1 P or tanto, debemos prestar mucha mayor atención a las cosas que hemos oído, no sea que marchemos a la deriva.

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

2 P orque si la palabra dicha por medio de ángeles fue firme, y toda transgresión y desobediencia recibió justa retribución,

For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

3 ¿ cómo escaparemos nosotros, si descuidamos una salvación tan grande? La cual, habiendo comenzado a ser anunciada por medio del Señor, nos fue confirmada por los que oyeron,

how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,

4 t estificando Dios juntamente con ellos, tanto con señales como con prodigios y diversos milagros y dones distribuidos por el Espíritu Santo según su voluntad. El autor de la salvación

God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. Earth Subject to Man

5 P orque no sometió a los ángeles el mundo venidero, acerca del cual estamos hablando;

For He did not subject to angels the world to come, concerning which we are speaking.

6 p ero alguien testificó en cierto lugar, diciendo: ¿Qué es el hombre, para que te acuerdes de él, O el hijo del hombre, para que te preocupes de él?

But one has testified somewhere, saying, “ What is man, that You remember him ? Or the son of man, that You are concerned about him ?

7 L e hiciste un poco menor que a los ángeles, Le coronaste de gloria y de honra, Y le constituiste sobre las obras de tus manos;

“ You have made him for a little while lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And have appointed him over the works of Your hands;

8 T odo lo sometiste bajo sus pies. Porque en cuanto le sometió todas las cosas, nada dejó que no esté sometido a él; pero ahora todavía no vemos que todas las cosas le estén sometidas.

You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him. Jesus Briefly Humbled

9 P ero vemos a aquel que fue hecho un poco menor que los ángeles, a Jesús, coronado de gloria y de honra, a causa del padecimiento de la muerte, para que por la gracia de Dios experimentase la muerte en provecho de todos.

But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.

10 P orque era propio de aquel por cuya causa son todas las cosas, y mediante el cual todas las cosas subsisten, que en su designio de ir llevando muchos hijos a la gloria, perfeccionase por medio de padecimientos al autor de la salvación de ellos.

For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.

11 P orque el que santifica y los que son santificados, de uno son todos; por lo cual no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos,

For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 d iciendo: Anunciaré a mis hermanos tu nombre, En medio de la congregación te cantaré himnos.

saying, “ I will proclaim Your name to My brethren, In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your praise.”

13 Y otra vez: Yo estaré confiado en él. Y de nuevo: He aquí, yo y los hijos que Dios me dio.

And again, “ I will put My trust in Him.” And again, “ Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.”

14 A sí que, por cuanto los hijos han tenido en común una carne y una sangre, él también participó igualmente de lo mismo, para, por medio de la muerte, destruir el poder al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, esto es, al diablo,

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

15 y librar a todos los que por el temor de la muerte estaban durante toda la vida sujetos a servidumbre.

and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

16 P orque ciertamente no viene en auxilio de los ángeles, sino que viene en auxilio de la descendencia de Abraham.

For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.

17 P or lo cual debía ser en todo semejante a sus hermanos, para venir a ser misericordioso y fiel sumo sacerdote en lo que a Dios se refiere, para hacer propiciación por los pecados del pueblo.

Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

18 P ues en cuanto él mismo fue probado mediante el sufrimiento, es poderoso para venir en auxilio de los que son tentados.

For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.
