1 E n aquel tiempo, dice Jehová, sacarán los huesos de los reyes de Judá, y los huesos de sus príncipes, y los huesos de los sacerdotes, y los huesos de los profetas, y los huesos de los moradores de Jerusalén, fuera de sus sepulcros;

“At that time,” declares the Lord, “they will bring out the bones of the kings of Judah and the bones of its princes, and the bones of the priests and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem from their graves.

2 y los esparcirán al sol y a la luna y a todo el ejército del cielo, a quienes amaron y a quienes sirvieron, en pos de quienes anduvieron, a quienes preguntaron, y ante quienes se postraron. No serán recogidos ni enterrados; serán como estiércol sobre la faz de la tierra.

They will spread them out to the sun, the moon and to all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served, and which they have gone after and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered or buried; they will be as dung on the face of the ground.

3 Y escogerá la muerte antes que la vida todo el resto que quede de esta mala generación, en todos los lugares adonde haya arrojado yo a los que queden, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

And death will be chosen rather than life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family, that remains in all the places to which I have driven them,” declares the Lord of hosts.

4 L es dirás asimismo: Así ha dicho Jehová: El que cae, ¿no se levanta? El que se desvía, ¿no vuelve al camino?

“You shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not repent?

5 ¿ Por qué continúa este pueblo de Jerusalén apostatando con apostasía perpetua? Se han aferrado al engaño, y rehúsan volverse.

“Why then has this people, Jerusalem, Turned away in continual apostasy? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return.

6 E scuché y oí; no hablan rectamente, no hay hombre que se arrepienta de su mal, diciendo: ¿Qué he hecho? Cada cual se apartó en su propia carrera, como caballo que irrumpe con ímpetu en la batalla.

“I have listened and heard, They have spoken what is not right; No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, ‘What have I done?’ Everyone turned to his course, Like a horse charging into the battle.

7 A un la cigüeña en el cielo conoce sus tiempos, y la tórtola y la grulla y la golondrina observan los tiempos de sus migraciones; pero mi pueblo no conoce la ordenanza de Jehová.

“Even the stork in the sky Knows her seasons; And the turtledove and the swift and the thrush Observe the time of their migration; But My people do not know The ordinance of the Lord.

8 ¿ Cómo decís: Nosotros somos sabios, y la ley de Jehová está con nosotros? Cuando lo cierto es que la ha cambiado en mentira la pluma mentirosa de los escribas.

“ How can you say, ‘We are wise, And the law of the Lord is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes Has made it into a lie.

9 L os sabios se avergonzaron, se espantaron y fueron consternados; he aquí que han rechazado la palabra de Jehová; ¿y qué sabiduría tienen?

“The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, And what kind of wisdom do they have?

10 P or tanto, daré a otros sus mujeres, y sus campos a nuevos poseedores; porque desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande cada uno sigue la avaricia; desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote todos practican el fraude.

“Therefore I will give their wives to others, Their fields to new owners; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is greedy for gain; From the prophet even to the priest Everyone practices deceit.

11 Y curaron la herida de la hija de mi pueblo a la ligera, diciendo: Paz, paz; cuando no hay paz.

“They heal the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace.

12 ¿ Se han avergonzado de haber hecho abominación? Ciertamente no se han avergonzado en lo más mínimo, ni aun saben lo que es sonrojarse; caerán, por tanto, entre los que caigan; cuando los castigue caerán, dice Jehová.

“Were they ashamed because of the abomination they had done? They certainly were not ashamed, And they did not know how to blush; Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time of their punishment they shall be brought down,” Says the Lord.

13 L os consumiré del todo, dice Jehová. No quedan uvas en la vid, ni higos en la higuera, y se cae la hoja; y lo que les he dado pasará de ellos.

“I will surely snatch them away,” declares the Lord; “There will be no grapes on the vine And no figs on the fig tree, And the leaf will wither; And what I have given them will pass away.”’”

14 ¿ Por qué nos estamos sentados? Reuníos, y entremos en las ciudades fortificadas, y perezcamos allí; porque Jehová nuestro Dios nos ha destinado a perecer, y nos ha dado a beber aguas de hiel, porque pecamos contra Jehová.

Why are we sitting still? Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities And let us perish there, Because the Lord our God has doomed us And given us poisoned water to drink, For we have sinned against the Lord.

15 E sperábamos paz, y no hubo bien alguno; día de curación, y he aquí terror.

We waited for peace, but no good came; For a time of healing, but behold, terror!

16 D esde Dan se oyó el bufido de sus caballos; al sonido de los relinchos de sus corceles tembló toda la tierra; pues vinieron y devoraron la tierra y su abundancia, la ciudad y los moradores de ella.

From Dan is heard the snorting of his horses; At the sound of the neighing of his stallions The whole land quakes; For they come and devour the land and its fullness, The city and its inhabitants.

17 P orque he aquí que yo envío sobre vosotros serpientes y áspides contra los cuales no hay encantamiento, y os morderán, dice Jehová. Lamentación sobre Judá y Jerusalén

“For behold, I am sending serpents against you, Adders, for which there is no charm, And they will bite you,” declares the Lord.

18 A unque quisiera consolarme de mi pesar, mi corazón desfallece dentro de mí.

My sorrow is beyond healing, My heart is faint within me!

19 H e aquí la voz del clamor de la hija de mi pueblo, que viene de tierra lejana: ¿No está Jehová en Sión? ¿No está en ella su Rey? ¿Por qué me hicieron airar con sus imágenes de talla, con vanidades ajenas?

Behold, listen! The cry of the daughter of my people from a distant land: “Is the Lord not in Zion? Is her King not within her?” “Why have they provoked Me with their graven images, with foreign idols?”

20 P asó la siega, terminó el verano, y nosotros no hemos sido salvos.

“Harvest is past, summer is ended, And we are not saved.”

21 S oy presa de angustia por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo; estoy negro, el espanto me ha sobrecogido.

For the brokenness of the daughter of my people I am broken; I mourn, dismay has taken hold of me.

22 ¿ No hay bálsamo en Galaad? ¿No hay allí médico? ¿Por qué, pues, no hubo medicina para la hija de mi pueblo?

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has not the health of the daughter of my people been restored?
