1 A hora, pues, oh sacerdotes, para vosotros es este mandamiento.

“And now this commandment is for you, O priests.

2 S i no escucháis, ni decidís de corazón dar gloria a mi nombre, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, enviaré maldición sobre vosotros, y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y aun las he maldecido ya, porque no lo habéis decidido de corazón.

If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the Lord of hosts, “then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.

3 H e aquí, yo voy a maldecir la sementera para daño vuestro, y os echaré al rostro el estiércol, el estiércol de vuestros animales sacrificados, y seréis arrojados juntamente con él.

Behold, I am going to rebuke your offspring, and I will spread refuse on your faces, the refuse of your feasts; and you will be taken away with it.

4 Y sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento, para que mi pacto fuese con Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

Then you will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that My covenant may continue with Levi,” says the Lord of hosts.

5 M i pacto con él fue de vida y de paz, las cuales cosas yo le di; y de temor, y tuvo temor de mí, y guardó reverencia a mi nombre.

“My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him as an object of reverence; so he revered Me and stood in awe of My name.

6 L a ley de la verdad estuvo en su boca, y no fue hallada iniquidad en sus labios; anduvo conmigo en paz y en justicia, e hizo que muchos se apartasen de la iniquidad.

True instruction was in his mouth and unrighteousness was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity.

7 P orque los labios del sacerdote han de guardar la sabiduría, y de su boca el pueblo buscará la ley; porque él es el mensajero de Jehová de los ejércitos.

For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

8 M as vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley; habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

But as for you, you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by the instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi,” says the Lord of hosts.

9 P or tanto, yo también os he hecho despreciables y viles ante todo el pueblo, así como vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos, y en la ley hacéis acepción de personas.

“So I also have made you despised and abased before all the people, just as you are not keeping My ways but are showing partiality in the instruction. Sin in the Family

10 ¿ No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué, pues, nos portamos deslealmente el uno contra el otro, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres?

“Do we not all have one father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously each against his brother so as to profane the covenant of our fathers?

11 P revaricó Judá, y en Israel y en Jerusalén se ha cometido abominación; porque Judá ha profanado el santuario de Jehová que él ama, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño.

Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord which He loves and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

12 J ehová cortará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que haga esto, al que vela y al que responde, y al que ofrece ofrenda a Jehová de los ejércitos.

As for the man who does this, may the Lord cut off from the tents of Jacob everyone who awakes and answers, or who presents an offering to the Lord of hosts.

13 Y esta otra cosa hacéis: cubrir el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto, y de clamor, porque no mira más vuestra ofrenda, ni la acepta con gusto de vuestras manos.

“This is another thing you do: you cover the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping and with groaning, because He no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand.

14 Y aun así decís: ¿Por qué? Porque Jehová es testigo entre ti y la mujer de tu juventud, contra la cual has sido desleal, siendo ella tu compañera, y la mujer de tu pacto.

Yet you say, ‘For what reason?’ Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.

15 ¿ No hizo él un solo ser, que tiene aliento de vida? ¿Y por qué uno? Porque buscaba una descendencia para Dios. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales para con la mujer de vuestra juventud.

But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And what did that one do while he was seeking a godly offspring? Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of your youth.

16 P orque Jehová Dios de Israel ha dicho que él aborrece el repudio, y al que cubre de iniquidad su vestido, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Guardaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu, y no seáis desleales. El día del juicio se acerca

For I hate divorce,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with wrong,” says the Lord of hosts. “So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”

17 H abéis hecho cansar a Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y decís: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? En que decís: Cualquiera que hace mal agrada a Jehová, y en los tales se complace; o si no, ¿dónde está el Dios del juicio?

You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied Him ?” In that you say, “ Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delights in them,” or, “ Where is the God of justice?”
