1 Y algunos descendieron de Judea y enseñaban a los hermanos: Si no os circuncidáis conforme al rito de Moisés, no podéis ser salvos.

Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

2 C omo Pablo y Bernabé tuvieran gran disensión y debate con ellos, los hermanos determinaron que Pablo y Bernabé, y algunos otros de ellos subieran a Jerusalén a los apóstoles y a los ancianos para tratar esta cuestión.

And when Paul and Barnabas had great dissension and debate with them, the brethren determined that Paul and Barnabas and some others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this issue.

3 A sí que, siendo enviados por la iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y Samaria, relatando detalladamente la conversión de los gentiles, y causaban gran gozo a todos los hermanos.

Therefore, being sent on their way by the church, they were passing through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and were bringing great joy to all the brethren.

4 C uando llegaron a Jerusalén, fueron recibidos por la iglesia, los apóstoles y los ancianos, e informaron de todo lo que Dios había hecho con ellos.

When they arrived at Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all that God had done with them.

5 P ero algunos de la secta de los fariseos que habían creído, se levantaron diciendo: Es necesario circuncidarlos y mandarles que guarden la ley de Moisés. El concilio de Jerusalén

But some of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed stood up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to direct them to observe the Law of Moses.”

6 E ntonces los apóstoles y los ancianos se reunieron para considerar este asunto.

The apostles and the elders came together to look into this matter.

7 Y después de mucho debate, Pedro se levantó y les dijo: Hermanos, vosotros sabéis que en los primeros días Dios escogió de entre vosotros que por mi boca los gentiles oyeran la palabra del evangelio y creyeran.

After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brethren, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe.

8 Y Dios, que conoce el corazón, les dio testimonio dándoles el Espíritu Santo, así como también nos lo dio a nosotros;

And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us;

9 y ninguna distinción hizo entre nosotros y ellos, purificando por la fe sus corazones.

and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

10 A hora pues, ¿por qué tentáis a Dios poniendo sobre el cuello de los discípulos un yugo que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido llevar ?

Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?

11 C reemos más bien que somos salvos por la gracia del Señor Jesús, de la misma manera que ellos también lo son.

But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”

12 T oda la multitud hizo silencio, y escuchaban a Bernabé y a Pablo, que relataban las señales y prodigios que Dios había hecho entre los gentiles por medio de ellos.

All the people kept silent, and they were listening to Barnabas and Paul as they were relating what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles. James’s Judgment

13 C uando terminaron de hablar, Jacobo respondió, diciendo: Escuchadme, hermanos.

After they had stopped speaking, James answered, saying, “Brethren, listen to me.

14 S imón ha relatado cómo Dios al principio tuvo a bien tomar de entre los gentiles un pueblo para su nombre.

Simeon has related how God first concerned Himself about taking from among the Gentiles a people for His name.

15 Y con esto concuerdan las palabras de los profetas, tal como está escrito:

With this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written,

16 D espues de esto volvere, y reedificare el tabernaculo de David que ha caido. Y reedificare sus ruinas, y lo levantare de nuevo,

‘ After these things I will return, And I will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen, And I will rebuild its ruins, And I will restore it,

17 p ara que el resto de los hombres busque al Señor, y todos los gentiles que son llamados por mi nombre,

So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,’

18 d ice el Señor, que hace saber todo esto desde tiempos antiguos.

Says the Lord, who makes these things known from long ago.

19 P or tanto, yo opino que no molestemos a los que de entre los gentiles se convierten a Dios,

Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles,

20 s ino que les escribamos que se abstengan de cosas contaminadas por los ídolos, de fornicación, de lo estrangulado y de sangre.

but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

21 P orque Moisés desde generaciones antiguas tiene en cada ciudad quienes lo prediquen, pues todos los días de reposo es leído en las sinagogas. La carta del concilio a los gentiles

For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

22 E ntonces pareció bien a los apóstoles y a los ancianos, con toda la iglesia, escoger de entre ellos algunos hombres para enviarlos a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé: a Judas, llamado Barsabás, y a Silas, hombres prominentes entre los hermanos,

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas—Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren,

23 y enviaron esta carta con ellos: Los apóstoles, y los hermanos que son ancianos, a los hermanos en Antioquía, Siria y Cilicia que son de los gentiles, saludos.

and they sent this letter by them, “ The apostles and the brethren who are elders, to the brethren in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia who are from the Gentiles, greetings.

24 P uesto que hemos oído que algunos de entre nosotros, a quienes no autorizamos, os han inquietado con sus palabras, perturbando vuestras almas,

“Since we have heard that some of our number to whom we gave no instruction have disturbed you with their words, unsettling your souls,

25 n os pareció bien, habiendo llegado a un común acuerdo, escoger algunos hombres para enviarlos a vosotros con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo,

it seemed good to us, having become of one mind, to select men to send to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26 h ombres que han arriesgado su vida por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27 P or tanto, hemos enviado a Judas y a Silas, quienes también os informarán las mismas cosas verbalmente.

“Therefore we have sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will also report the same things by word of mouth.

28 P orque pareció bien al Espíritu Santo y a nosotros no imponeros mayor carga que estas cosas esenciales:

“For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials:

29 q ue os abstengáis de cosas sacrificadas a los ídolos, de sangre, de lo estrangulado y de fornicación. Si os guardáis de tales cosas, bien haréis. Pasadlo bien. Judas y Silas en Antioquía

that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell.”

30 A sí que ellos, después de ser despedidos, descendieron a Antioquía; y reuniendo a la congregación, entregaron la carta;

So when they were sent away, they went down to Antioch; and having gathered the congregation together, they delivered the letter.

31 y cuando la leyeron, se regocijaron por el consuelo que les impartía.

When they had read it, they rejoiced because of its encouragement.

32 S iendo Judas y Silas también profetas, exhortaron y confortaron a los hermanos con un largo mensaje.

Judas and Silas, also being prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brethren with a lengthy message.

33 Y después de pasar allí algún tiempo, fueron despedidos en paz por los hermanos para volver a aquellos que los habían enviado.

After they had spent time there, they were sent away from the brethren in peace to those who had sent them out.

34 P ero a Silas le pareció bien quedarse allí.

'> But it seemed good to Silas to remain there.]

35 M as Pablo y Bernabé se quedaron en Antioquía, enseñando y predicando con muchos otros, la palabra del Señor. Pablo y Bernabé se separan

But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching with many others also, the word of the Lord. Second Missionary Journey

36 D espués de algunos días Pablo dijo a Bernabé: Volvamos y visitemos a los hermanos en todas las ciudades donde hemos proclamado la palabra del Señor, para ver cómo están.

After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return and visit the brethren in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are.”

37 B ernabé quería llevar también con ellos a Juan, llamado Marcos,

Barnabas wanted to take John, called Mark, along with them also.

38 p ero Pablo consideraba que no debían llevar consigo a quien los había desertado en Panfilia y no los había acompañado en la obra.

But Paul kept insisting that they should not take him along who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work.

39 S e produjo un desacuerdo tan grande que se separaron el uno del otro, y Bernabé tomó consigo a Marcos y se embarcó rumbo a Chipre.

And there occurred such a sharp disagreement that they separated from one another, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.

40 M as Pablo escogió a Silas y partió, siendo encomendado por los hermanos a la gracia del Señor.

But Paul chose Silas and left, being committed by the brethren to the grace of the Lord.

41 Y viajaba por Siria y Cilicia confirmando a las iglesias.

And he was traveling through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
