1 С тарец--возлюбленному Гаию, которого я люблю по истине.

The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.

2 В озлюбленный! молюсь, чтобы ты здравствовал и преуспевал во всем, как преуспевает душа твоя.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

3 И бо я весьма обрадовался, когда пришли братия и засвидетельствовали о твоей верности, как ты ходишь в истине.

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

4 Д ля меня нет большей радости, как слышать, что дети мои ходят в истине.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

5 В озлюбленный! ты как верный поступаешь в том, что делаешь для братьев и для странников.

Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;

6 О ни засвидетельствовали перед церковью о твоей любви. Ты хорошо поступишь, если отпустишь их, как должно ради Бога,

Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

7 и бо они ради имени Его пошли, не взяв ничего от язычников.

Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.

8 И так мы должны принимать таковых, чтобы сделаться споспешниками истине.

We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

9 Я писал церкви; но любящий первенствовать у них Диотреф не принимает нас.

I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

10 П осему, если я приду, то напомню о делах, которые он делает, понося нас злыми словами, и не довольствуясь тем, и сам не принимает братьев, и запрещает желающим, и изгоняет из церкви.

Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

11 В озлюбленный! не подражай злу, но добру. Кто делает добро, тот от Бога; а делающий зло не видел Бога.

Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

12 О Димитрии засвидетельствовано всеми и самою истиною; свидетельствуем также и мы, и вы знаете, что свидетельство наше истинно.

Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

13 М ногое имел я писать; но не хочу писать к тебе чернилами и тростью,

I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:

14 а надеюсь скоро увидеть тебя и поговорить устами к устам. (1-15) Мир тебе. Приветствуют тебя друзья; приветствуй друзей поименно. Аминь.

But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
