1 “ You are the children of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave the front of your head for the dead.

2 F or you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. Clean and Unclean Meat

Porque eres pueblo santo a Jehová, tu Dios, y Jehová te ha escogido para que le seas un pueblo único entre todos los pueblos que están sobre la tierra. Animales limpios y animales inmundos

3 “ You shall not eat any detestable thing.

»Nada abominable comerás.

4 T hese are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

»Éstos son los animales que podréis comer: el buey, la oveja, la cabra,

5 t he deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the mountain goat, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.

el ciervo, la gacela, el corzo, la cabra montés, el íbice, el antílope y el carnero montés.

6 A nd you may eat every animal with cloven hooves, having the hoof split into two parts, and that chews the cud, among the animals.

También podréis comer todo animal de pezuñas partidas, o sea, hendida en dos mitades, y que rumia.

7 N evertheless, of those that chew the cud or have cloven hooves, you shall not eat, such as these: the camel, the hare, and the rock hyrax; for they chew the cud but do not have cloven hooves; they are unclean for you.

Pero estos no comeréis entre los que rumian o entre los que tienen la pezuña hendida: el camello, la liebre y el conejo, porque rumian, pero no tienen la pezuña hendida; os serán inmundos.

8 A lso the swine is unclean for you, because it has cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud; you shall not eat their flesh or touch their dead carcasses.

Tampoco el cerdo, porque tiene la pezuña hendida, pero no rumia; os será inmundo. De la carne de estos no comeréis, ni tocaréis sus cuerpos muertos.

9 “ These you may eat of all that are in the waters: you may eat all that have fins and scales.

»De entre los que viven en el agua, estos podréis comer: todo lo que tiene aletas y escamas.

10 A nd whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.

Pero no comeréis lo que no tiene aletas y escama; os será inmundo.

11 “ All clean birds you may eat.

»Podréis comer toda ave limpia.

12 B ut these you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,

Pero éstas son las que no podréis comer: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el azor,

13 t he red kite, the falcon, and the kite after their kinds;

el gallinazo, el milano según su especie,

14 e very raven after its kind;

todo cuervo según su especie,

15 t he ostrich, the short-eared owl, the sea gull, and the hawk after their kinds;

el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y el gavilán según sus especies,

16 t he little owl, the screech owl, the white owl,

el búho, el ibis, el calamón,

17 t he jackdaw, the carrion vulture, the fisher owl,

el pelícano, el buitre, el somormujo,

18 t he stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe and the bat.

la cigüeña, la garza según su especie, la abubilla y el murciélago.

19 “ Also every creeping thing that flies is unclean for you; they shall not be eaten.

»Todo insecto alado os será inmundo: no se comerá.

20 “ You may eat all clean birds.

Podréis comer toda ave limpia.

21 “ You shall not eat anything that dies of itself; you may give it to the alien who is within your gates, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk. Tithing Principles

»No comeréis ningún animal muerto. Al extranjero que está en tus poblaciones se lo darás, y él podrá comerlo; o véndelo a un extranjero, porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Jehová, tu Dios. »No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre. La ley del diezmo

22 “ You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year.

»Indefectiblemente diezmarás todo el producto del grano que rinda tu campo cada año.

23 A nd you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.

Comerás delante de Jehová, tu Dios, en el lugar que él escoja para poner allí su nombre, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu vino y de tu aceite, y las primicias de tus manadas y de tus ganados, para que aprendas a temer a Jehová, tu Dios, todos los días.

24 B ut if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the Lord your God has blessed you,

Si el camino es tan largo que no puedas llevarlo, por estar lejos de ti el lugar que Jehová, tu Dios, haya escogido para poner en él su nombre, cuando Jehová, tu Dios, te haya bendecido,

25 t hen you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses.

entonces lo venderás, llevarás el dinero contigo e irás al lugar que Jehová, tu Dios, escoja.

26 A nd you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

Allí entregarás el dinero por todo lo que deseas: por vacas, por ovejas, por vino, por sidra o por cualquier cosa que tú desees. Comerás allí delante de Jehová, tu Dios, y te alegrarás, tú y tu familia.

27 Y ou shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you.

»No desampararás al levita que habite en tus poblaciones, porque no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.

28 “ At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates.

»Al cabo de tres años sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año, y lo guardarás en tus ciudades.

29 A nd the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Allí vendrá el levita, que no tiene parte ni heredad contigo, el extranjero, el huérfano y la viuda que haya en tus poblaciones, y comerán y se saciarán, para que Jehová, tu Dios, te bendiga en toda obra que tus manos hagan.
