1 I n the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam became king over Judah.

2 H e reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maachah the granddaughter of Abishalom.

Reinó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

3 A nd he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.

Anduvo en todos los pecados que su padre había cometido antes de él. Su corazón no fue perfecto para con Jehová, su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.

4 N evertheless for David’s sake the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, by setting up his son after him and by establishing Jerusalem;

Pero por amor a David, Jehová, su Dios, le dio una lámpara en Jerusalén, al poner en el trono a su hijo después de él y sostener a Jerusalén,

5 b ecause David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

por cuanto David había hecho lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, y de ninguna cosa que le habían mandado se había apartado en todos los días de su vida, salvo en lo tocante a Urías, el heteo.

6 A nd there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

Hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días de su vida.

7 N ow the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

Los demás hechos de Abiam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Y hubo guerra entre Abiam y Jeroboam.

8 S o Abijam rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Then Asa his son reigned in his place. Asa Reigns in Judah

9 I n the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king over Judah.

10 A nd he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His grandmother’s name was Maachah the granddaughter of Abishalom.

11 A sa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did his father David.

Asa hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David, su padre,

12 A nd he banished the perverted persons from the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

porque expulsó del país a los sodomitas y quitó todos los ídolos que sus padres habían hecho.

13 A lso he removed Maachah his grandmother from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. And Asa cut down her obscene image and burned it by the Brook Kidron.

También privó a su madre Maaca de ser reina madre, porque había hecho un ídolo de Asera. Asa deshizo, además, el ídolo de su madre y lo quemó junto al torrente Cedrón.

14 B ut the high places were not removed. Nevertheless Asa’s heart was loyal to the Lord all his days.

Sin embargo, los lugares altos no desaparecieron. Con todo, el corazón de Asa fue perfecto para con Jehová toda su vida.

15 H e also brought into the house of the Lord the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which he himself had dedicated: silver and gold and utensils.

16 N ow there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Hubo guerra continuamente entre Asa y Baasa, rey de Israel.

17 A nd Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

Baasa, rey de Israel, subió contra Judá y fortificó Ramá, para evitar que se comunicaran con Asa, rey de Judá.

18 T hen Asa took all the silver and gold that was left in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and the treasuries of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,

Asa tomó toda la plata y el oro que había quedado en los tesoros de la casa de Jehová y en los tesoros de la casa real, se los entregó a sus siervos y los envió a Ben-adad hijo de Tabrimón hijo de Hezión, rey de Siria, el cual residía en Damasco, diciendo:

19 “ Let there be a treaty between you and me, as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you a present of silver and gold. Come and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

«Haya alianza entre nosotros, como entre mi padre y el tuyo. Aquí te envío un presente de plata y de oro. Ve y rompe tu pacto con Baasa, rey de Israel, para que se aparte de mí.»

20 S o Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. He attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maachah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

Ben-adad aceptó la propuesta del rey Asa y envió a los jefes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel. Conquistó Ijón, Dan, Abel-bet-maaca, toda Cineret y toda la tierra de Neftalí.

21 N ow it happened, when Baasha heard it, that he stopped building Ramah, and remained in Tirzah.

Al saberlo Baasa, dejó de edificar Ramá y se quedó en Tirsa.

22 T hen King Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted. And they took away the stones and timber of Ramah, which Baasha had used for building; and with them King Asa built Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

Entonces el rey Asa convocó a todo Judá, sin exceptuar a nadie. Se llevaron de Ramá la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba, y el rey Asa construyó con ello Geba de Benjamín y Mizpa. Muerte de Asa

23 T he rest of all the acts of Asa, all his might, all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

Los demás hechos de Asa, todo su poderío, todo lo que hizo y las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? En los días de su vejez Asa enfermó de los pies.

24 S o Asa rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. Then Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place. Nadab Reigns in Israel

Durmió Asa con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David, su padre. Reinó en su lugar Josafat, su hijo. Reinado de Nadab

25 N ow Nadab the son of Jeroboam became king over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.

Nadab hijo de Jeroboam comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en el segundo año de Asa, rey de Judá. Reinó sobre Israel dos años.

26 A nd he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin by which he had made Israel sin.

Hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová andando en el camino de su padre y en los pecados con que éste hizo pecar a Israel.

27 T hen Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him. And Baasha killed him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, while Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

Baasa hijo de Ahías, que era de la casa de Isacar, conspiró contra él. Baasa lo hirió en Gibetón, que era de los filisteos, porque Nadab y todo Israel tenían sitiado a Gibetón.

28 B aasha killed him in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place.

Lo mató, pues, Baasa en el tercer año de Asa, rey de Judá, y reinó en lugar suyo.

29 A nd it was so, when he became king, that he killed all the house of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken by His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

Apenas comenzó a reinar, mató a toda la casa de Jeroboam, sin dejar alma viviente de los de Jeroboam, hasta raerla, conforme a la palabra que Jehová anunció por medio de su siervo Ahías, el silonita,

30 b ecause of the sins of Jeroboam, which he had sinned and by which he had made Israel sin, because of his provocation with which he had provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger.

y a causa de los pecados que Jeroboam había cometido, con los cuales hizo pecar a Israel, provocando así el enojo de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

31 N ow the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Los demás hechos de Nadab, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

32 A nd there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days. Baasha Reigns in Israel

Y hubo guerra continua entre Asa y Baasa, rey de Israel. Reinado de Baasa

33 I n the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah became king over all Israel in Tirzah, and reigned twenty-four years.

En el tercer año de Asa, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Baasa hijo de Ahías sobre todo Israel en Tirsa. Reinó veinticuatro años.

34 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin by which he had made Israel sin.

Pero hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; anduvo en el camino de Jeroboam y en el pecado con que éste hizo pecar a Israel.
