1 N ow all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, el cual tenía dieciséis años de edad, y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de Amasías, su padre.

2 H e built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king rested with his fathers.

Uzías reconstruyó a Elot y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey Amasías durmió con sus padres.

3 U zziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

De dieciséis años era Uzías cuando comenzó a reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

4 A nd he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

Él hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías, su padre.

5 H e sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.

Persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, el cual era entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días en que buscó a Jehová, él le prosperó.

6 N ow he went out and made war against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities around Ashdod and among the Philistines.

Salió y peleó contra los filisteos, derribó los muros de Gat, de Jabnia, y de Asdod; edificó ciudades en Asdod y en la tierra de los filisteos.

7 G od helped him against the Philistines, against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and against the Meunites.

Dios le dio ayuda contra los filisteos, contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-baal y contra los amonitas.

8 A lso the Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah. His fame spread as far as the entrance of Egypt, for he became exceedingly strong.

Dieron los amonitas presentes a Uzías y se divulgó su fama hasta la frontera de Egipto; porque se había hecho altamente poderoso.

9 A nd Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate, and at the corner buttress of the wall; then he fortified them.

Edificó también Uzías torres en Jerusalén, junto a la puerta del ángulo, junto a la puerta del valle y junto a las esquinas; y las fortificó.

10 A lso he built towers in the desert. He dug many wells, for he had much livestock, both in the lowlands and in the plains; he also had farmers and vinedressers in the mountains and in Carmel, for he loved the soil.

Asimismo edificó torres en el desierto y abrió muchas cisternas; porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en la Sefela como en las vegas, y viñas y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.

11 M oreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by companies, according to the number on their roll as prepared by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

Tuvo también Uzías un ejército de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra en divisiones, de acuerdo con la lista hecha bajo la dirección de Jeiel, el escriba, de Maasías, el gobernador, y de Hananías, uno de los jefes del rey.

12 T he total number of chief officers of the mighty men of valor was two thousand six hundred.

El número total de los jefes de familia, valientes y esforzados, era de dos mil seiscientos.

13 A nd under their authority was an army of three hundred and seven thousand five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

Y bajo las órdenes de estos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes, para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.

14 T hen Uzziah prepared for them, for the entire army, shields, spears, helmets, body armor, bows, and slings to cast stones.

Uzías preparó para todo el ejército escudos, lanzas, yelmos, corazas, arcos y hondas para tirar piedras.

15 A nd he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and large stones. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong. The Penalty for Uzziah’s Pride

E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas inventadas por ingenieros, para que estuvieran en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar flechas y grandes piedras. Y su fama se extendió lejos, porque fue ayudado maravillosamente, hasta hacerse poderoso.

16 B ut when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the Lord his God by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Pero cuando se hizo fuerte, su corazón se enalteció para su ruina; porque se rebeló contra Jehová, su Dios, entrando en el templo de Jehová para quemar incienso sobre el altar del incienso.

17 S o Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him were eighty priests of the Lord —valiant men.

Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Jehová, hombres valientes,

18 A nd they withstood King Uzziah, and said to him, “ It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Get out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed! You shall have no honor from the Lord God.”

que se opusieron al rey Uzías y le dijeron: «No te corresponde a ti, rey Uzías, el quemar incienso a Jehová, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo. Sal del santuario, porque has pecado, y tú no tienes derecho a la gloria que viene de Jehová Dios».

19 T hen Uzziah became furious; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead, before the priests in the house of the Lord, beside the incense altar.

Entonces Uzías, que tenía en la mano un incensario para ofrecer incienso, se llenó de ira contra los sacerdotes. En ese momento le brotó lepra en la frente, delante de los sacerdotes en la casa de Jehová, junto al altar del incienso.

20 A nd Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and there, on his forehead, he was leprous; so they thrust him out of that place. Indeed he also hurried to get out, because the Lord had struck him.

Cuando el sumo sacerdote Azarías y todos los sacerdotes lo miraron, se dieron cuenta de que tenía lepra en su frente. Entonces lo hicieron salir apresuradamente de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa en salir, porque Jehová lo había herido.

21 K ing Uzziah was a leper until the day of his death. He dwelt in an isolated house, because he was a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord. Then Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

Así el rey Uzías quedó leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó leproso en una casa apartada, por lo cual fue excluido de la casa de Jehová; y Jotam, su hijo, se hizo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

22 N ow the rest of the acts of Uzziah, from first to last, the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz wrote.

Los demás hechos de Uzías, los primeros y los últimos, fueron escritos por el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz.

23 S o Uzziah rested with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings, for they said, “He is a leper.” Then Jotham his son reigned in his place.

Durmió Uzías con sus padres y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: «Leproso es.» Y reinó su hijo Jotam en su lugar.
