1 Е то думите на писмото, което пророк Йеремия изпрати от Йерусалим до останалите старейшини на пленниците, до свещениците, до пророците и до целия народ, които Навуходоносор беше закарал в плен от Йерусалим във Вавилон

Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

2 ( след като цар Йехония, овдовялата царица, евнусите, Юдейските и йерусалимските първенци, художниците и ковачите бяха излезли от Йерусалим),

(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)

3 ч рез ръката на Еласа, Сафановия син, и на Гемария, Хелкиевия син (когото Юдейският цар Седекия изпрати при вавилонския цар Навуходоносор), в което писмо казваше:

By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,

4 Т ака казва Господ на Силите, Израелевият Бог, на всичките пленници, които Аз съм направил да бъдат закарани пленници от Йерусалим във Вавилон:

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;

5 П остройте къщи и живейте в тях, насадете градини и яжте плода им,

Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;

6 в земете жени и народете синове и дъщери, вземете жени за синовете си и дайте дъщерите си на мъже, за да народите синове и дъщери, и се умножавайте там, а не се намалявайте,

Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.

7 т ърсете мира на града, където ви направих да бъдете закарани пленници, и се молете за него на Господа; понеже в неговия мир ще имате и вие мир.

And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

8 З ащото така казва Господ на Силите, Израелевият Бог: Да не ви мамят пророците и прорицателите ви, които са сред вас, и не слушайте сънищата си, които вие давате причина да ги сънувате.

For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

9 З ащото те ви пророкуват лъжливо в Мое име; Аз не съм ги пратил, казва Господ.

For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.

10 З ащото така казва Господ: Като се изпълнят седемдесет години във Вавилон, Аз ще ви посетя и ще изпълня благото Си слово към вас, като ви върна на това място.

For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

11 З ащото аз зная мислите, които мисля за вас, казва Господ, мисля за мир, а не за зло, за да ви дам бъдеще и надежда.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 Т огава ще извикате към Мен и ще отидете, и ще Ми се помолите; и Аз ще ви послушам.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13 И ще Ме потърсите и ще Ме намерите, като Ме потърсите с цялото си сърце.

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

14 И вие ще Ме намерите, казва Господ; ще ви върна от плен и ще ви събера от всички народи и от всички места, където ви бях изгонил, казва Господ; и ще ви върна на мястото, откъдето ви направих да бъдете закарани пленници.

And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

15 П онеже казахте: Господ ни е въздигнал пророци във Вавилон,

Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;

16 т о знайте, че така говори Господ за царя, който седи на Давидовия престол, и за целия народ, който населява този град, братята ви, които не излязоха с вас в плен -

Know that thus saith the Lord of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;

17 т ака казва Господ на Силите: Ето, ще изпратя върху тях меч, глад и мор и ще ги направя като непотребни смокини, които поради лошавината им не се ядат.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

18 Щ е ги преследвам с меч, глад и мор; и ще ги предам да бъдат тласкани по всички царства на света, да бъдат за проклятие, за учудване, за подсвиркване и за укор между всички народи, където съм ги изгонил;

And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:

19 з ащото не са послушали Моите думи, казва Господ, които им пратих чрез слугите Си, пророците, като ставах рано и ги пращах; но вие не искахте да слушате, казва Господ.

Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the Lord.

20 И така, послушайте Господнето слово, всички вие пленени, които изпратих от Йерусалим във Вавилон.

Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:

21 Т ака казва Господ на Силите, Израелевият Бог, за Ахаав, Колайевия син, и за Седекия, Маасиевия син, които ви пророкуват лъжа в Моето име: Ето, ще ги предам в ръката на вавилонския цар Навуходоносор, който ще ги порази пред очите ви;

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;

22 и с тях всички Юдейски пленници, които са във Вавилон, ще вземат да проклинат, като казват: Господ да те направи като Седекия и като Ахаав, които вавилонският цар опече на огън;

And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

23 з ащото те извършиха нечестие в Израел, прелюбодействаха с жените на ближните си и в Мое име говореха лъжливи думи, които не съм им заповядал. Но Аз зная и съм свидетел, казва Господ.

Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the Lord.

24 С ъщо и на нехеламеца Семая да кажеш:

Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,

25 Т ака говори Господ на силите, Израелевият Бог: Понеже си пратил писма от свое име до целия народ, който е в Йерусалим, и до свещеник Софония, Маасиевия син, и до всички свещеници, в които си казал:

Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

26 Г оспод те е поставил свещеник вместо свещеника Йодай, за да си надзирател в Господния дом над всеки човек, който, като лудува, се прави на пророк, за да го сложат в клада и в окови.

The Lord hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the Lord, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.

27 И така, сега защо не си смъмрил анатотеца Йеремия, който ви се прави на пророк,

Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?

28 т ъй като е пратил до нас във Вавилон да кажат: Този плен ще бъде дълъг; постройте си къщи и живейте в тях, и насадете градини, и яжте плода им?

For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

29 И свещеник Софония прочете това писмо, като слушаше пророк Йеремия.

And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

30 Т огава Господнето слово дойде към Йеремия и каза:

Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying,

31 П рати до всички пленници да им кажат: Така казва Господ за нехеламеца Семая: Понеже Семая ви е пророкувал, а Аз не съм го пратил, и ви е подвел да уповавате на лъжа,

Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the Lord concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:

32 з атова така казва Господ: Ето, ще накажа нехеламеца Семайя и потомството му; той няма да има човек, който да живее между този народ, нито ще види доброто, което Аз ще направя на народа Си, казва Господ; понеже е проповядвал бунт против Господа.

Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the Lord; because he hath taught rebellion against the Lord.
