1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 T hou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Ти знаєш сидіння моє та вставання моє, думку мою розумієш здалека.

3 T hou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

Дорогу мою та лежання моє виміряєш, і Ти всі путі мої знаєш,

4 F or there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

бо ще слова нема на моїм язиці, а вже, Господи, знаєш те все!

5 T hou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Оточив Ти мене ззаду й спереду, і руку Свою надо мною поклав.

6 S uch knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Дивне знання над моє розуміння, високе воно, я його не подолаю!

7 W hither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

Куди я від Духа Твого піду, і куди я втечу від Твого лиця?

8 I f I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

Якщо я на небо зійду, то Ти там, або постелюся в шеолі ось Ти!

9 I f I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Понесуся на крилах зірниці, спочину я на кінці моря,

10 E ven there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

то рука Твоя й там попровадить мене, і мене буде тримати правиця Твоя!

11 I f I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

Коли б я сказав: Тільки темрява вкриє мене, і ніч світло для мене,

12 Y ea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

то мене не закриє від Тебе і темрява, і ніч буде світити, як день, і темнота як світло!

13 F or thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

Бо Ти вчинив нирки мої, Ти виткав мене в утробі матері моєї,

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Прославляю Тебе, що я дивно утворений! Дивні діла Твої, і душа моя відає вельми про це!

15 M y substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

і кості мої не сховались від Тебе, бо я вчинений був в укритті, я витканий був у глибинах землі!

16 T hine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Мого зародка бачили очі Твої, і до книги Твоєї записані всі мої члени та дні, що в них були вчинені, коли жодного з них не було...

17 H ow precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

Які дорогі мені стали думки Твої, Боже, як побільшилося їх число,

18 I f I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

перелічую їх, численніші вони від піску! Як пробуджуюся, то я ще з Тобою.

19 S urely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

Якби, Боже, вразив Ти безбожника, а ви, кровожерці, відступітесь від мене!

20 F or they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

Вони називають підступно Тебе, Твої вороги на марноту пускаються!

21 D o not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

Отож, ненавиджу Твоїх ненависників, Господи, і Твоїх заколотників бриджусь:

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

повною ненавистю я ненавиджу їх, вони стали мені ворогами!...

23 S earch me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Випробуй, Боже, мене, і пізнай моє серце, досліди Ти мене, і пізнай мої задуми,

24 A nd see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

і побач, чи не йду я дорогою злою, і на вічну дорогу мене попровадь!
