1 A nd Job answered and said,

Entonces respondió Job:

2 N o doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

“En verdad que ustedes son el pueblo, Y con ustedes morirá la sabiduría.

3 B ut I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

Pero yo también tengo inteligencia como ustedes; No soy inferior a ustedes. ¿Y quién no sabe esto ?

4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

Soy motivo de burla para mis amigos, Yo, el que clamaba a Dios, y El le respondía. Motivo de burla es el justo e intachable.

5 H e that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

El que está en holgura desprecia la calamidad, Como cosa preparada para aquéllos cuyos pies resbalan.

6 T he tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

Las tiendas de los destructores prosperan, Y los que provocan a Dios están seguros, A quienes Dios ha dado el poder que tienen.

7 B ut ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

Ahora pregunta a los animales, y que ellos te instruyan, Y a las aves de los cielos, y que ellas te informen.

8 O r speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

O habla a la tierra, y que ella te instruya, Y que los peces del mar te lo declaren.

9 W ho knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

¿Quién entre todos ellos no sabe Que la mano del Señor ha hecho esto,

10 I n whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Que en Su mano está la vida de todo ser viviente, Y el aliento de todo ser humano ?

11 D oth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

¿No distingue el oído las palabras Como el paladar prueba la comida ?

12 W ith the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

En los ancianos está la sabiduría, Y en largura de días el entendimiento.

13 W ith him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

En El están la sabiduría y el poder, Y el consejo y el entendimiento son Suyos.

14 B ehold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

El derriba, y no se puede reedificar; Aprisiona a un hombre, y no puede ser liberado.

15 B ehold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

El retiene las aguas, y todo se seca, Y las envía, e inundan la tierra.

16 W ith him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

En El están la fuerza y la prudencia, Suyos son el engañado y el engañador.

17 H e leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

El hace que los consejeros anden descalzos, Y hace necios a los jueces.

18 H e looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

Rompe las cadenas de los reyes Y ata sus cinturas con cuerda.

19 H e leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

Hace que los sacerdotes anden descalzos Y derriba a los que están seguros.

20 H e removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

Priva del habla a los hombres de confianza Y quita a los ancianos el discernimiento.

21 H e poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

Vierte desprecio sobre los nobles Y afloja el cinto de los fuertes.

22 H e discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

El revela los misterios de las tinieblas Y saca a la luz la densa oscuridad.

23 H e increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

Engrandece las naciones, y las destruye; Ensancha las naciones, y las dispersa.

24 H e taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

Priva de inteligencia a los jefes de la gente de la tierra Y los hace vagar por un desierto sin camino;

25 T hey grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

Andan a tientas en tinieblas, sin luz, Y los hace tambalearse como borrachos.
