1 W oe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

¡Ay de los que viven reposadamente en Sion, Y de los que se sienten seguros en el monte de Samaria, Los notables de las naciones principales, A quienes acude la casa de Israel!

2 P ass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?

Pasen a Calne y miren, Y de allí vayan a Hamat la grande, Desciendan luego a Gat de los Filisteos. ¿Son ustedes mejores que estos reinos, O es su territorio mayor que el de ustedes?

3 Y e that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

¿Alejan ustedes el día de la calamidad, Y acercan la silla de la violencia ?

4 T hat lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

Los que se acuestan en camas de marfil, Se tienden sobre sus lechos, Comen corderos del rebaño Y terneros de en medio del establo;

5 T hat chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;

Que improvisan al son del arpa, Y como David han compuesto cantos para sí;

6 T hat drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

Que beben vino en tazones del altar Y se ungen con los óleos más finos, Pero no se lamentan por la ruina de José,

7 T herefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.

Irán por tanto ahora al destierro a la cabeza de los desterrados, Y se acabarán los banquetes de los disolutos.

8 T he Lord God hath sworn by himself, saith the Lord the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

El Señor Dios ha jurado por sí mismo, ha declarado el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos: “Aborrezco la arrogancia de Jacob, Y odio sus palacios; Así que entregaré la ciudad y cuanto hay en ella.”

9 A nd it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

Y si diez hombres quedan en una misma casa, morirán.

10 A nd a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the Lord.

Entonces su tío o su incinerador, levantará a cada uno para sacar sus huesos de la casa, y dirá al que está en el fondo de la casa: “¿Hay alguien más contigo?” Y éste responderá: “Nadie.” Entonces aquél dirá: “¡Guarda silencio!, porque no se debe hacer mención del nombre del Señor.”

11 F or, behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

Porque el Señor ordenará que la casa grande sea reducida a escombros y que la casa pequeña sea hecha pedazos.

12 S hall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:

¿Corren los caballos por la peña? ¿Se ara en ella con bueyes? Pues ustedes han convertido el derecho en veneno, Y el fruto de la justicia en amargura;

13 Y e which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

Ustedes que se alegran por Lo Debar (en nada), Que dicen: “¿No hemos tomado para nosotros Carnáyim (dos cuernos) Con nuestra propia fuerza ?”

14 B ut, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.

“Por tanto, voy a levantar contra ustedes, oh casa de Israel,” Declara el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, “una nación que los afligirá desde la entrada de Hamat Hasta el arroyo del Arabá.”
