1 A nd the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

Toda la tierra hablaba la misma lengua y las mismas palabras.

2 A nd it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

Según iban hacia el oriente, hallaron una llanura en la tierra de Sinar, y se establecieron allí.

3 A nd they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

Y se dijeron unos a otros: “Vamos, fabriquemos ladrillos y cozámos los bien.” Y usaron ladrillo en lugar de piedra y asfalto en lugar de mezcla.

4 A nd they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

Luego dijeron: “Vamos, edifiquémonos una ciudad y una torre cuya cúspide llegue hasta los cielos, y hagámonos un nombre famoso, para que no seamos dispersados sobre la superficie de toda la tierra.”

5 A nd the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

Pero el Señor descendió para ver la ciudad y la torre que habían edificado los hijos de los hombres.

6 A nd the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Y dijo el Señor: “Son un solo pueblo y todos ellos tienen la misma lengua. Esto es lo que han comenzado a hacer, y ahora nada de lo que se propongan hacer les será imposible.

7 G o to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

Vamos, bajemos y confundamos allí su lengua, para que ninguno entienda el lenguaje del otro.”

8 S o the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Así el Señor los dispersó desde allí sobre la superficie de toda la tierra, y dejaron de edificar la ciudad.

9 T herefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Por eso la ciudad fue llamada Babel (Babilonia), porque allí el Señor confundió la lengua de toda la tierra, y de allí el Señor los dispersó sobre la superficie de toda la tierra. Descendientes de Sem

10 T hese are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

Estas son las generaciones de Sem: Sem tenía 100 años, y fue el padre de Arfaxad, dos años después del diluvio.

11 A nd Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Sem 500 años después de haber engendrado a Arfaxad, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

12 A nd Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

Arfaxad vivió 35 años, y fue padre de Sala.

13 A nd Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Arfaxad 403 años después de haber engendrado a Sala, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

14 A nd Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:

Sala vivió 30 años, y fue padre de Heber.

15 A nd Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Sala 403 años después de haber engendrado a Heber, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

16 A nd Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:

Heber vivió 34 años, y fue padre de Peleg.

17 A nd Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Heber 430 años después de haber engendrado a Peleg, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

18 A nd Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

Peleg vivió 30 años, y fue padre de Reu.

19 A nd Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Peleg 209 años después de haber engendrado a Reu, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

20 A nd Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:

Reu vivió 32 años, y fue padre de Serug.

21 A nd Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Reu 207 años después de haber engendrado a Serug, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

22 A nd Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:

Serug vivió 30 años, y fue padre de Nacor.

23 A nd Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Serug 200 años después de haber engendrado a Nacor, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

24 A nd Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:

Nacor vivió 29 años, y fue padre de Taré.

25 A nd Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

Y vivió Nacor 119 años después de haber engendrado a Taré, y tuvo otros hijos e hijas.

26 A nd Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Taré vivió 70 años, y fue padre de Abram, de Nacor y de Harán. Descendientes de Taré

27 N ow these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

Estas son las generaciones de Taré: Taré fue padre de Abram, de Nacor y de Harán. Harán fue padre de Lot.

28 A nd Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

Harán murió en presencia de su padre Taré en la tierra de su nacimiento, en Ur de los Caldeos.

29 A nd Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

Abram y Nacor tomaron para sí mujeres. El nombre de la mujer de Abram era Sarai, y el nombre de la mujer de Nacor, Milca, hija de Harán, padre de Milca y de Isca.

30 B ut Sarai was barren; she had no child.

Pero Sarai era estéril; no tenía hijo.

31 A nd Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

Y Taré tomó a Abram su hijo, a su nieto Lot, hijo de Harán, y a Sarai su nuera, mujer de su hijo Abram. Salieron juntos de Ur de los Caldeos, en dirección a la tierra de Canaán. Llegaron hasta Harán, y se establecieron allí.

32 A nd the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

Los días de Taré fueron 205 años. Y murió Taré en Harán.
