1 A nd now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.

“Y ahora, para ustedes, sacerdotes, es este mandamiento.

2 I f ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

Si no escuchan, y si no deciden de corazón dar honor a Mi nombre,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos “enviaré sobre ustedes maldición, y maldeciré sus bendiciones; y en verdad, ya las he maldecido, porque no lo han decidido de corazón.

3 B ehold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

Yo reprenderé a su descendencia, y les echaré estiércol a la cara, el estiércol de sus fiestas, y serán llevados con él.

4 A nd ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.

Entonces sabrán que les he enviado este mandamiento para que Mi pacto siga con Leví,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

5 M y covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

“Mi pacto con él era de vida y paz, las cuales le di para que Me reverenciara; y él Me reverenció, y estaba lleno de temor ante Mi nombre.

6 T he law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

La verdadera instrucción (ley) estaba en su boca, y no se hallaba iniquidad en sus labios; en paz y rectitud caminaba conmigo, y apartaba a muchos de la iniquidad.

7 F or the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

Pues los labios del sacerdote deben guardar la sabiduría, y los hombres deben buscar la instrucción de su boca, porque él es el mensajero del Señor de los ejércitos.

8 B ut ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.

Pero ustedes se han desviado del camino, han hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley, han corrompido el pacto de Leví,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

9 T herefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

“Por eso Yo también los he hecho despreciables y viles ante todo el pueblo, así como ustedes no han guardado Mis caminos y hacen acepción de personas al aplicar la ley. Abominaciones del Pueblo

10 H ave we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

“¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios ? ¿Por qué nos portamos deslealmente unos contra otros, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres ?

11 J udah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the Lord which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

Deslealmente ha obrado Judá. Una abominación se ha cometido en Israel y en Jerusalén; porque Judá ha profanado el santuario del Señor, que El ama, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño.

12 T he Lord will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the Lord of hosts.

Que el Señor extermine de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hace esto (sea testigo o defensor) aunque presente una ofrenda al Señor de los ejércitos.

13 A nd this have ye done again, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

“Y esta otra cosa hacen: cubren el altar del Señor de lágrimas, llantos y gemidos, porque El ya no mira la ofrenda ni la acepta con agrado de su mano.

14 Y et ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

Y ustedes dicen: ‘¿Por qué?’ Porque el Señor ha sido testigo entre tú y la mujer de tu juventud, contra la cual has obrado deslealmente, aunque ella es tu compañera y la mujer de tu pacto.

15 A nd did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

Pero ninguno que tenga un remanente del Espíritu lo ha hecho así. ¿Y qué hizo éste mientras buscaba una descendencia de parte de Dios ? Presten atención, pues, a su espíritu; no seas desleal con la mujer de tu juventud.

16 F or the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

“Porque Yo detesto el divorcio,” dice el Señor, Dios de Israel, “y al que cubre de iniquidad su vestidura,” dice el Señor de los ejércitos. “Presten atención, pues, a su espíritu y no sean desleales.”

17 Y e have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Ustedes han cansado al Señor con sus palabras. Y dicen: “¿En qué Lo hemos cansado?” Cuando dicen: “Todo el que hace mal es bueno a los ojos del Señor, y en ellos El se complace; o: ¿Dónde está el Dios de la justicia ?”
