1 I n the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

Al tercer mes de la salida de los Israelitas de la tierra de Egipto, ese mismo día, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí.

2 F or they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

Salieron de Refidim, llegaron al desierto de Sinaí y acamparon en el desierto. Allí, delante del monte, acampó Israel.

3 A nd Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

Moisés subió hacia Dios, y el Señor lo llamó desde el monte y le dijo: “Así dirás a la casa de Jacob y anunciarás a los Israelitas:

4 Y e have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

‘Ustedes han visto lo que he hecho a los Egipcios, y cómo los he tomado sobre alas de águilas y los he traído a Mí.

5 N ow therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

Ahora pues, si en verdad escuchan Mi voz y guardan Mi pacto, serán Mi especial tesoro entre todos los pueblos, porque Mía es toda la tierra.

6 A nd ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Ustedes serán para Mí un reino de sacerdotes y una nación santa.’ Estas son las palabras que dirás a los Israelitas.”

7 A nd Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him.

Entonces Moisés fue y llamó a los ancianos del pueblo, y expuso delante de ellos todas estas palabras que el Señor le había mandado.

8 A nd all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord.

Y todo el pueblo respondió a una, y dijeron: “Haremos todo lo que el Señor ha dicho.” Y Moisés llevó al Señor las palabras del pueblo.

9 A nd the Lord said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord.

Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Yo vendré a ti en una densa nube, para que el pueblo oiga cuando Yo hable contigo y también te crean para siempre.” Entonces Moisés comunicó al pueblo las palabras del Señor.

10 A nd the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

El Señor dijo también a Moisés: “Ve al pueblo y conságralos hoy y mañana, y que laven sus vestidos.

11 A nd be ready against the third day: for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

Que estén preparados para el tercer día, porque al tercer día el Señor descenderá a la vista de todo el pueblo sobre el Monte Sinaí.

12 A nd thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

Pondrás límites alrededor para el pueblo, y dirás: ‘De ningún modo suban al monte o toquen su límite. Cualquiera que toque el monte, ciertamente morirá.

13 T here shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

Ninguna mano lo tocará, sino que morirá apedreado o a flechazos. Sea animal o sea hombre, no vivirá.’ Cuando suene largamente la bocina ellos subirán al monte.”

14 A nd Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

Y Moisés bajó del monte al pueblo, y santificó al pueblo. Después ellos lavaron sus vestidos.

15 A nd he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.

Entonces Moisés dijo al pueblo: “Estén preparados para el tercer día. No se acerquen a mujer.” La Majestuosa Presencia del Señor

16 A nd it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

Y aconteció que al tercer día, cuando llegó la mañana, hubo truenos y relámpagos y una densa nube sobre el monte y un sonido tan fuerte de trompeta, que hizo temblar a todo el pueblo que estaba en el campamento.

17 A nd Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

Entonces Moisés sacó al pueblo del campamento para ir al encuentro de Dios, y ellos se quedaron al pie del monte.

18 A nd mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

Todo el Monte Sinaí humeaba, porque el Señor había descendido sobre él en fuego. El humo subía como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte se estremecía con violencia.

19 A nd when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

El sonido de la trompeta aumentaba más y más. Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía con el trueno.

20 A nd the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the Lord called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

El Señor descendió a la cumbre del Monte Sinaí. Entonces el Señor llamó a Moisés a la cumbre del monte, y Moisés subió.

21 A nd the Lord said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the Lord to gaze, and many of them perish.

Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Desciende, advierte al pueblo, no sea que traspasen los límites para ver al Señor y perezcan muchos de ellos.

22 A nd let the priests also, which come near to the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break forth upon them.

También que se santifiquen los sacerdotes que se acercan al Señor, no sea que el Señor irrumpa contra ellos.”

23 A nd Moses said unto the Lord, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

Y Moisés dijo al Señor: “El pueblo no puede subir al Monte Sinaí, porque Tú nos advertiste: ‘Pon límites alrededor del monte y santifícalo.’”

24 A nd the Lord said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the Lord, lest he break forth upon them.

Entonces el Señor le dijo: “Ve, desciende, y vuelve a subir, tú y Aarón contigo; pero que los sacerdotes y el pueblo no traspasen los límites para subir al Señor, no sea que El se lance contra ellos.”

25 S o Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.

Descendió, pues, Moisés y advirtió al pueblo.
