1 T hese are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Queste sono le tappe fatte dai figli d’Israele che uscirono dal paese d’Egitto, divisi in schiere, sotto la guida di Mosè e di Aaronne.

2 A nd Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the Lord: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.

Mosè mise per iscritto le loro marce, tappa per tappa, per ordine del Signore; e queste sono le tappe che fecero nel loro cammino.

3 A nd they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

Partirono da Ramses il primo mese, il quindicesimo giorno di quel mese. Il giorno dopo la Pasqua i figli d’Israele partirono a testa alta, sotto gli occhi di tutti gli Egiziani,

mentre gli Egiziani seppellivano quelli che il Signore aveva colpiti in mezzo a loro, cioè tutti i primogeniti, quando anche i loro dèi erano stati colpiti dal giudizio del Signore.

5 A nd the children of Israel removed from Rameses, and pitched in Succoth.

I figli d’Israele partirono dunque da Ramses e si accamparono a Succot.

6 A nd they departed from Succoth, and pitched in Etham, which is in the edge of the wilderness.

Partirono da Succot e si accamparono a Etam, che è all’estremità del deserto.

7 A nd they removed from Etham, and turned again unto Pi-hahiroth, which is before Baal-zephon: and they pitched before Migdol.

Partirono da Etam e piegarono verso Pi-Achirot, che è di fronte a Baal-Sefon, e si accamparono davanti a Migdol.

8 A nd they departed from before Pi-hahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in Marah.

Partirono da davanti ad Achirot, attraversarono il mare in direzione del deserto, fecero tre giornate di marcia nel deserto di Etam e si accamparono a Mara.

9 A nd they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there.

Partirono da Mara e andarono a Elim, dove c’erano dodici sorgenti d’acqua e settanta palme. Là si accamparono.

10 A nd they removed from Elim, and encamped by the Red sea.

Partirono da Elim e si accamparono presso il mar Rosso.

11 A nd they removed from the Red sea, and encamped in the wilderness of Sin.

Partirono dal mar Rosso e si accamparono nel deserto di Sin.

12 A nd they took their journey out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.

Partirono dal deserto di Sin e si accamparono a Dofca.

13 A nd they departed from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush.

Partirono da Dofca e si accamparono ad Alus.

14 A nd they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the people to drink.

Partirono da Alus e si accamparono a Refidim, dove non c’era acqua da bere per il popolo.

15 A nd they departed from Rephidim, and pitched in the wilderness of Sinai.

Partirono da Refidim e si accamparono nel deserto del Sinai.

16 A nd they removed from the desert of Sinai, and pitched at Kibroth-hattaavah.

Partirono dal deserto del Sinai e si accamparono a Chibrot-Attaava.

17 A nd they departed from Kibroth-hattaavah, and encamped at Hazeroth.

Partirono da Chibrot-Attaava e si accamparono ad Aserot.

18 A nd they departed from Hazeroth, and pitched in Rithmah.

19 A nd they departed from Rithmah, and pitched at Rimmon-parez.

20 A nd they departed from Rimmon-parez, and pitched in Libnah.

21 A nd they removed from Libnah, and pitched at Rissah.

22 A nd they journeyed from Rissah, and pitched in Kehelathah.

23 A nd they went from Kehelathah, and pitched in mount Shapher.

24 A nd they removed from mount Shapher, and encamped in Haradah.

27 A nd they departed from Tahath, and pitched at Tarah.

35 A nd they departed from Ebronah, and encamped at Ezion-gaber.

36 A nd they removed from Ezion-gaber, and pitched in the wilderness of Zin, which is Kadesh.

Partirono da Esion-Gheber e si accamparono nel deserto di Sin, cioè a Cades.

37 A nd they removed from Kadesh, and pitched in mount Hor, in the edge of the land of Edom.

Poi partirono da Cades e si accamparono al monte Or, all’estremità del paese di Edom.

38 A nd Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the Lord, and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month.

E il sacerdote Aaronne salì sul monte Or per ordine del Signore e lì morì, quarant’anni dopo l’uscita dei figli d’Israele dal paese d’Egitto, il quinto mese, il primo giorno del mese.

39 A nd Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three years old when he died in mount Hor.

Aaronne era in età di centoventitré anni quando morì sul monte Or.

40 A nd king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children of Israel.

Il re di Arad, cananeo, che abitava il mezzogiorno del paese di Canaan, udì che i figli d’Israele arrivavano.

41 A nd they departed from mount Hor, and pitched in Zalmonah.

Quelli partirono dal monte Or e si accamparono a Salmona.

42 A nd they departed from Zalmonah, and pitched in Punon.

Partirono da Salmona e si accamparono a Punon.

43 A nd they departed from Punon, and pitched in Oboth.

Partirono da Punon e si accamparono a Obot.

44 A nd they departed from Oboth, and pitched in Ije-abarim, in the border of Moab.

Partirono da Obot e si accamparono a Iie-Abarim, sui confini di Moab.

45 A nd they departed from Iim, and pitched in Dibon-gad.

Partirono da Iim e si accamparono a Dibon-Gad.

46 A nd they removed from Dibon-gad, and encamped in Almon-diblathaim.

Partirono da Dibon-Gad e si accamparono ad Almon-Diblataim.

47 A nd they removed from Almon-diblathaim, and pitched in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo.

Partirono da Almon-Diblataim e si accamparono sui monti di Abarim di fronte a Nebo.

48 A nd they departed from the mountains of Abarim, and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

Partirono dai monti di Abarim e si accamparono nelle pianure di Moab, presso il Giordano di fronte a Gerico.

49 A nd they pitched by Jordan, from Beth-jesimoth even unto Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.

Si accamparono presso il Giordano, da Bet-Iesimot fino ad Abel-Sittim, nelle pianure di Moab. La proscrizione dei Cananei

50 A nd the Lord spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

Il Signore parlò a Mosè nelle pianure di Moab, presso il Giordano di fronte a Gerico, e disse:

51 S peak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

«Parla ai figli d’Israele e di’ loro: “Quando avrete passato il Giordano e sarete entrati nel paese di Canaan,

52 t hen ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

scaccerete d’innanzi a voi tutti gli abitanti del paese, distruggerete tutte le loro immagini, distruggerete tutte le loro statue di metallo fuso e demolirete tutti i loro luoghi sacri.

53 a nd ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

Prenderete possesso del paese e in esso vi stabilirete, perché io ve l’ho dato affinché lo possediate.

54 A nd ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.

Dividerete il paese a sorte, secondo le vostre famiglie. A quelle che sono più numerose darete una porzione maggiore e a quelle che sono meno numerose darete una porzione minore. Ognuno possederà quello che gli sarà toccato in sorte; vi spartirete la proprietà secondo le tribù dei vostri padri.

55 B ut if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Ma se non scacciate d’innanzi a voi gli abitanti del paese, quelli di loro che vi avrete lasciato saranno per voi come spine negli occhi e pungoli nei fianchi e vi faranno tribolare nel paese che abiterete.

56 M oreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

E avverrà che io tratterò voi come mi ero proposto di trattar loro”».
