1 P ero el primer día de la semana, al rayar el alba, las mujeres vinieron al sepulcro trayendo las especias aromáticas que habían preparado.

Early in the morning on the first day of the week, the women went to the grave taking the spices they had made ready.

2 Y encontraron que la piedra había sido removida del sepulcro,

They found the stone had been pushed away from the grave.

3 y cuando entraron, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor Jesús.

They went in but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 Y aconteció que estando ellas perplejas por esto, de pronto se pusieron junto a ellas dos varones en vestiduras resplandecientes;

While they wondered about what had happened, they saw two men standing by them in shining clothes.

5 y estando ellas aterrorizadas e inclinados sus rostros a tierra, ellos les dijeron: ¿Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive?

They were very much afraid and got down with their faces to the ground. The men said to them, “Why do you look for the living One among those who are dead?

6 N o está aquí, sino que ha resucitado. Acordaos cómo os habló cuando estaba aún en Galilea,

He is not here. He is risen. Do you not remember what He said to you when He was yet in Galilee?

7 d iciendo que el Hijo del Hombre debía ser entregado en manos de hombres pecadores, y ser crucificado, y al tercer día resucitar.

He said, ‘The Son of Man must be given over into the hands of sinful men. He must be nailed to a cross. He will rise again three days later.’”

8 E ntonces ellas se acordaron de sus palabras,

They remembered what He had said.

9 y regresando del sepulcro, anunciaron todas estas cosas a los once y a todos los demás.

When they came back from the grave, they told all these things to the eleven followers and to all the others.

10 E ran María Magdalena y Juana y María, la madre de Jacobo; también las demás mujeres con ellas referían estas cosas a los apóstoles.

They were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James. Other women who were with them told these things to the followers also.

11 Y a ellos estas palabras les parecieron como disparates, y no las creyeron.

Their words sounded like foolish talk. The followers did not believe them.

12 P ero Pedro se levantó y corrió al sepulcro; e inclinándose para mirar adentro, vio sólo las envolturas de lino; y se fue a su casa, maravillado de lo que había acontecido. Jesús se manifiesta a dos discípulos

But Peter got up and ran to the grave. He got down to look in and saw only the linen clothes. Then he went away, surprised about what had happened. The Followers of Jesus Do Not Believe He Is Risen

13 Y he aquí que aquel mismo día dos de ellos iban a una aldea llamada Emaús, que estaba como a once kilómetros de Jerusalén.

That same day two of His followers were going to the town of Emmaus. It was about a two-hour walk from Jerusalem.

14 Y conversaban entre sí acerca de todas estas cosas que habían acontecido.

They talked of all these things that had happened.

15 Y sucedió que mientras conversaban y discutían, Jesús mismo se acercó y caminaba con ellos.

While they were talking together, Jesus Himself came and walked along with them.

16 P ero sus ojos estaban velados para que no le reconocieran.

Something kept their eyes from seeing Who He was.

17 Y El les dijo: ¿Qué discusiones son estas que tenéis entre vosotros mientras vais andando? Y ellos se detuvieron, con semblante triste.

He said to them, “What are you talking about as you walk?” They stood still and looked sad.

18 R espondiendo uno de ellos, llamado Cleofas, le dijo: ¿Eres tú el único visitante en Jerusalén que no sabe las cosas que en ella han acontecido en estos días?

One of them, whose name was Cleopas, said to Him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who has not heard of the things that have happened here these days?”

19 E ntonces El les dijo: ¿Qué cosas? Y ellos le dijeron: Las referentes a Jesús el Nazareno, que fue un profeta poderoso en obra y en palabra delante de Dios y de todo el pueblo;

Jesus said to them, “What things?” They answered, “The things about Jesus of Nazareth. He was the great One Who spoke for God. He did powerful works and spoke powerful words in the sight of God and the people.

20 y cómo los principales sacerdotes y nuestros gobernantes le entregaron a sentencia de muerte y le crucificaron.

And the religious leaders and the leaders of the people gave Him over to be killed and nailed Him to a cross.

21 P ero nosotros esperábamos que El era el que iba a redimir a Israel. Pero además de todo esto, este es el tercer día desde que estas cosas acontecieron.

We were hoping He was the One Who was going to make the Jewish people free. But it was three days ago when these things happened.

22 Y también algunas mujeres de entre nosotros nos asombraron; pues cuando fueron de madrugada al sepulcro,

“Some of the women of our group have surprised us and made us wonder. They went to the grave early this morning.

23 y al no hallar su cuerpo, vinieron diciendo que también habían visto una aparición de ángeles que decían que El vivía.

They did not find His body. They came back saying they had seen angels in a special dream who said that He was alive.

24 A lgunos de los que estaban con nosotros fueron al sepulcro, y lo hallaron tal como también las mujeres habían dicho; pero a El no le vieron.

Some of those who were with us went to the grave and found it as the women had said. But they did not see Him.”

25 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: ¡Oh insensatos y tardos de corazón para creer todo lo que los profetas han dicho!

Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish men. How slow you are to believe what the early preachers have said.

26 ¿ No era necesario que el Cristo padeciera todas estas cosas y entrara en su gloria ?

Did not Christ have to go through these hard things to come into His shining-greatness?”

27 Y comenzando por Moisés y continuando con todos los profetas, les explicó lo referente a El en todas las Escrituras.

Jesus kept on telling them what Moses and all the early preachers had said about Him in the Holy Writings.

28 S e acercaron a la aldea adonde iban, y El hizo como que iba más lejos.

When they came to the town where they were going, Jesus acted as if He were going farther.

29 Y ellos le instaron, diciendo: Quédate con nosotros, porque está atardeciendo, y el día ya ha declinado. Y entró a quedarse con ellos.

But they said to Him, “Stay with us. It will soon be evening. The day is about over.” He went in to stay with them.

30 Y sucedió que al sentarse a la mesa con ellos, tomó pan, y lo bendijo; y partiéndo lo, les dio.

As He sat at the table with them, He took the bread and gave thanks and broke it. Then He gave it to them.

31 E ntonces les fueron abiertos los ojos y le reconocieron; pero El desapareció de la presencia de ellos.

And their eyes were opened and they knew Him. Then He left them and could not be seen.

32 Y se dijeron el uno al otro: ¿No ardía nuestro corazón dentro de nosotros mientras nos hablaba en el camino, cuando nos abría las Escrituras ?

They said to each other, “Were not our hearts filled with joy when He talked to us on the road about what the Holy Writings said?”

33 Y levantándose en esa misma hora, regresaron a Jerusalén, y hallaron reunidos a los once y a los que estaban con ellos,

Then they got up at once and went back to Jerusalem. They found the eleven followers together and others with them.

34 q ue decían: Es verdad que el Señor ha resucitado y se ha aparecido a Simón.

They said, “For sure the Lord is risen and was seen by Simon.”

35 Y ellos contaban sus experiencias en el camino, y cómo le habían reconocido en el partir del pan. Jesús se aparece a los discípulos

Then they told what had happened on the road and how they came to know Him when He broke the bread. Jesus Is Seen by the Other Ten Followers

36 M ientras ellos relataban estas cosas, Jesús se puso en medio de ellos, y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

As they talked, Jesus Himself stood among them. He said, “May you have peace.”

37 P ero ellos, aterrorizados y asustados, pensaron que veían un espíritu.

But they were afraid and full of fear. They thought they saw a spirit.

38 Y El les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis turbados, y por qué surgen dudas en vuestro corazón?

Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid? Why do you have doubts in your hearts?

39 M irad mis manos y mis pies, que soy yo mismo; palpadme y ved, porque un espíritu no tiene carne ni huesos como veis que yo tengo.

Look at My hands and My feet. See! It is I, Myself! Touch Me and see for yourself. A spirit does not have flesh and bones as I have.”

40 Y cuando dijo esto, les mostró las manos y los pies.

When Jesus had said this, He showed them His hands and feet.

41 C omo ellos todavía no lo creían a causa de la alegría y que estaban asombrados, les dijo: ¿Tenéis aquí algo de comer ?

They still wondered. It was hard for them to believe it and yet it made them happy. Then He said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

42 E ntonces ellos le presentaron parte de un pescado asado.

They gave Jesus a piece of fish that had been cooked and some honey.

43 Y El lo tomó y comió delante de ellos. La gran comisión

He took it and ate it in front of them. Jesus Sends His Followers to Teach

44 Y les dijo: Esto es lo que yo os decía cuando todavía estaba con vosotros: que era necesario que se cumpliera todo lo que sobre mí está escrito en la ley de Moisés, en los profetas y en los salmos.

Jesus said to them, “These are the things I told you while I was yet with you. All things written about Me in the Law of Moses and in the Books of the early preachers and in the Psalms must happen as they said they would happen.”

45 E ntonces les abrió la mente para que comprendieran las Escrituras,

Then He opened their minds to understand the Holy Writings.

46 y les dijo: Así está escrito, que el Cristo padeciera y resucitara de entre los muertos al tercer día;

He said to them, “It is written that Christ should suffer and be raised from the dead after three days.

47 y que en su nombre se predicara el arrepentimiento para el perdón de los pecados a todas las naciones, comenzando desde Jerusalén.

It must be preached that men must be sorry for their sins and turn from them. Then they will be forgiven. This must be preached in His name to all nations beginning in Jerusalem.

48 V osotros sois testigos de estas cosas.

You are to tell what you have seen.

49 Y he aquí, yo enviaré sobre vosotros la promesa de mi Padre; pero vosotros, permaneced en la ciudad hasta que seáis investidos con poder de lo alto. Jesús se despide de sus discípulos

See! I will send you what My Father promised. But you are to stay in Jerusalem until you have received power from above.” Jesus Goes to Be Beside His Father

50 E ntonces los condujo fuera de la ciudad, hasta cerca de Betania, y alzando sus manos, los bendijo.

Jesus led them out as far as Bethany. Then He lifted up His hands and prayed that good would come to them.

51 Y aconteció que mientras los bendecía, se separó de ellos y fue llevado arriba al cielo.

And while He was praying that good would come to them, He went from them (and was taken up to heaven and

52 E llos, después de adorarle, regresaron a Jerusalén con gran gozo,

they worshiped Him). Then they went back to Jerusalem with great joy.

53 y estaban siempre en el templo alabando a Dios.

They spent all their time in the house of God honoring and giving thanks to God.
