1 A marás, pues, al Señor tu Dios, y guardarás siempre sus mandatos, sus estatutos, sus ordenanzas y sus mandamientos.

“Love the Lord your God. Always do what He tells you and keep all His Laws.

2 Y comprended hoy que no estoy hablando con vuestros hijos, los cuales no han visto la disciplina del Señor vuestro Dios: su grandeza, su mano poderosa, su brazo extendido,

I am not speaking to your children. They have not seen how the Lord worked and how great He is.

3 s us señales y sus obras que hizo en medio de Egipto a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y a toda su tierra;

They have not seen the special things you have seen, what He did in Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt and to all his land.

4 l o que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y a sus carros, al hacer que el agua del mar Rojo los cubriera cuando os perseguían, y el Señor los destruyó completamente;

They have not seen what He did to Egypt’s army, the horses and war-wagons. He made the water of the Red Sea flow over them while they were coming after you. He destroyed every one of them.

5 l o que os hizo en el desierto hasta que llegasteis a este lugar,

They have not seen what He did to you in the desert until you came to this place.

6 y lo que hizo a Datán y Abiram, los hijos de Eliab, hijo de Rubén, cuando la tierra abrió su boca y los tragó a ellos, a sus familias, a sus tiendas y a todo ser viviente que los seguía, en medio de todo Israel.

They do not know what He did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, son of Reuben. The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, those of their house, their tents, and every living thing that followed them among Israel.

7 P ero vuestros propios ojos han visto toda la gran obra que el Señor ha hecho. Obediencia y recompensa

But your own eyes have seen all the great work the Lord has done.

8 G uardad, pues, todos los mandamientos que os ordeno hoy, para que seáis fuertes, y entréis y toméis posesión de la tierra a la cual entráis para poseerla;

“So keep every Law which I am telling you today. And you will be strong and go in and take the land which is to be yours.

9 p ara que prolonguéis vuestros días en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a vuestros padres y a su descendencia, una tierra que mana leche y miel.

You will live long in the land the Lord promised to your fathers and their children, a land flowing with milk and honey.

10 P orque la tierra a la cual entras para poseerla, no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde vinisteis, donde sembrabas tu semilla, y la regabas con el pie como una huerta de hortalizas,

For the land you are going in to take is not like the land you came from in Egypt. There you planted your seed and watered it using your feet, like a vegetable garden.

11 s ino que la tierra a la cual entráis para poseerla, tierra de montes y valles, bebe el agua de las lluvias del cielo.

But the land you are about to go into and take for your own is a land of hills and valleys. It drinks water from the rain of heaven.

12 E s una tierra que el Señor tu Dios cuida; los ojos del Señor tu Dios están siempre sobre ella, desde el principio hasta el fin del año.

The Lord your God cares for this land. His eyes watch over it from the beginning to the end of the year.

13 Y sucederá que si obedecéis mis mandamientos que os ordeno hoy, de amar al Señor vuestro Dios y de servirle con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma,

“Listen to and obey all the Laws I am telling you today. Love the Lord your God. Work for Him with all your heart and soul. If you do,

14 E l dará a vuestra tierra la lluvia a su tiempo, lluvia temprana y lluvia tardía, para que recojas tu grano, tu mosto y tu aceite.

He will give the rain for your land at the right times, the early and late rain. So you may gather in your grain, your new wine and your oil.

15 Y El dará hierba en tus campos para tu ganado, y comerás y te saciarás.

He will give grass in your fields for your cattle. And you will eat and be filled.

16 C uidaos, no sea que se engañe vuestro corazón y os desviéis y sirváis a otros dioses, y los adoréis.

Be careful not to let your hearts be fooled so you turn away and work for other gods and worship them.

17 N o sea que la ira del Señor se encienda contra vosotros, y cierre los cielos y no haya lluvia y la tierra no produzca su fruto, y pronto perezcáis en la buena tierra que el Señor os da.

Or the anger of the Lord will burn against you. He will shut the heavens so there will be no rain and the ground will not give its fruit. Then you will be quick to die from the good land the Lord is giving you.

18 G rabad, pues, estas mis palabras en vuestro corazón y en vuestra alma; atadlas como una señal a vuestra mano, y serán por insignias entre vuestros ojos.

“Keep these words of mine in your heart and in your soul. Tie them as something special to see upon your hand and on your forehead between your eyes.

19 Y enseñadlas a vuestros hijos, hablando de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa y cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.

20 Y escríbelas en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas,

Write them beside the door of your house and on your gates.

21 p ara que tus días y los días de tus hijos sean multiplicados en la tierra que el Señor juró dar a tus padres, por todo el tiempo que los cielos permanezcan sobre la tierra.

And your days and the days of your children will become many in the land the Lord promised to give to your fathers, as long as the heavens are above the earth.

22 P orque si guardáis cuidadosamente todo este mandamiento que os ordeno para cumplirlo, amando al Señor vuestro Dios, andando en todos sus caminos y allegándoos a El,

Be careful to obey all this Law which I am telling you. Love the Lord your God. Walk in all His ways and hold on to Him. If you do,

23 e ntonces el Señor expulsará de delante de vosotros a todas estas naciones, y vosotros desposeeréis a naciones más grandes y más poderosas que vosotros.

the Lord will drive out all these nations in front of you. And you will take for your own what has belonged to nations greater and stronger than you.

24 T odo lugar donde pise la planta de vuestro pie será vuestro; vuestras fronteras serán desde el desierto hasta el Líbano, y desde el río, el río Eufrates, hasta el mar occidental.

Every place where your foot steps will be yours. Your land will be from the desert to Lebanon, and from the River Euphrates to the sea in the west.

25 N adie os podrá hacer frente; el Señor vuestro Dios infundirá, como El os ha dicho, espanto y temor de vosotros en toda la tierra que pise vuestro pie.

There no man will be able to stand in front of you. The Lord your God will put the fear of you on all the land where you walk, as He has promised you.

26 H e aquí, hoy pongo delante de vosotros una bendición y una maldición:

“See, I am putting in front of you today good and a curse.

27 l a bendición, si escucháis los mandamientos del Señor vuestro Dios que os ordeno hoy;

Good will come to you if you listen to the Laws of the Lord your God, which I am telling you today.

28 y la maldición, si no escucháis los mandamientos del Señor vuestro Dios, sino que os apartáis del camino que os ordeno hoy, para seguir a otros dioses que no habéis conocido.

But a curse will come to you if you do not listen to the Laws of the Lord your God and turn aside from the way I am telling you today, by following other gods you have not known.

29 Y acontecerá, que cuando el Señor tu Dios te lleve a la tierra donde entras para poseerla, pondrás la bendición sobre el monte Gerizim y la maldición sobre el monte Ebal.

When the Lord your God brings you into the land which is to be yours, you are to speak on Mount Gerizim about the good and on Mount Ebal the curses.

30 ¿ No están ellos al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino del poniente, en la tierra de los cananeos que habitan en el Arabá, frente a Gilgal, junto al encinar de More ?

You know they are on the other side of the Jordan, west of the road where the sun goes down. They are in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, beside Gilgal, next to the trees of Moreh.

31 P orque vais a pasar el Jordán para ir a poseer la tierra que el Señor vuestro Dios os da, y la tomaréis y habitaréis en ella;

You are about to cross the Jordan to go in to take the land the Lord your God is giving you. It will be your land and you will live in it.

32 y tendréis cuidado de cumplir todos los estatutos y decretos que hoy pongo delante de vosotros.

Be careful to obey all the Laws which I am giving you today.
