1 E ntonces Salomón dijo: El Señor ha dicho que El moraría en la densa nube.

Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that He would live in the thick cloud.

2 Y o, pues, te he edificado una casa majestuosa, un lugar donde mores para siempre.

I have built a great house for You. It is a place for You to live in forever.”

3 D espués el rey se volvió y bendijo a toda la asamblea de Israel, mientras toda la asamblea de Israel estaba de pie,

Then the king turned around and prayed that good would come to all the people of Israel, while all the people of Israel stood.

4 y dijo: Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, que habló por su boca a mi padre David y por su mano lo ha cumplido, cuando dijo:

Solomon said, “Honor and thanks be to the Lord, the God of Israel. He spoke with His mouth to my father David. And He has kept His promises with His hands, saying,

5 “ Desde el día en que saqué a mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, no escogí ninguna ciudad de entre todas las tribus de Israel en la cual edificar una casa para que estuviera allí mi nombre, ni escogí a hombre alguno por príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel;

‘Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the families of Israel in which to build a house for My name. I did not choose any man to be a leader over My people Israel.

6 m as escogí a Jerusalén para que mi nombre estuviera allí, y escogí a David para que estuviera sobre mi pueblo Israel.”

But I have chosen Jerusalem that My name might be there. And I have chosen David to rule My people Israel.’

7 Y mi padre David tuvo en su corazón edificar una casa al nombre del Señor, Dios de Israel.

Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

8 P ero el Señor dijo a mi padre David: “Por cuanto tuviste en tu corazón edificar una casa a mi nombre, bien hiciste en desearlo en tu corazón.

But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.

9 “ Sin embargo, tú no edificarás la casa, sino que tu hijo que te nacerá, él edificará la casa a mi nombre.”

But you will not build the house. Your son who will be born to you will build the house for My name.’

10 A hora el Señor ha cumplido la palabra que había dicho; pues yo me he levantado en lugar de mi padre David y me he sentado en el trono de Israel, como el Señor prometió, y he edificado la casa al nombre del Señor, Dios de Israel.

Now the Lord has kept His promise which He made. For I have taken the place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised. And I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

11 Y he puesto allí el arca, en la cual está el pacto que el Señor hizo con los hijos de Israel.

There I have put the special box with the Law of the Lord which He gave to the people of Israel.” Solomon’s Prayer

12 E ntonces Salomón se puso delante del altar del Señor en presencia de toda la asamblea de Israel y extendió las manos.

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord, in front of all the people of Israel, and spread out his hands.

Solomon had made a special place to stand, out of brass. It was as long and as wide as three steps, and as high as a man’s chest. And he had put it in the center of the open space. He stood on it, then got down on his knees in front of all the people of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven.

14 d ijo: Oh Señor, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como tú ni en el cielo ni en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y muestras misericordia a tus siervos que andan delante de ti con todo su corazón;

He said, “O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth. You keep Your promises and show loving-kindness to Your servants who walk with You with all their hearts.

15 q ue has cumplido con tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste; ciertamente has hablado con tu boca y lo has cumplido con tu mano, como sucede hoy.

You have kept Your promises to Your servant David my father. Yes, You have spoken with Your mouth, and have done all You said You would do, as it is today.

16 A hora pues, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, cumple con tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste, diciendo: “No te faltará quién se siente en el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos guarden sus caminos para andar en mi ley como tú has andado delante de mí.”

So now, O Lord, God of Israel, keep Your promise which You made to Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You will never be without a man to sit on the throne of Israel. But your sons must be careful to walk in My Law, as you have done.’

17 A hora pues, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, que se cumpla la palabra que hablaste a tu siervo David.

So now, O Lord, God of Israel, let Your Word be made sure which You have spoken to Your servant David.

“But is it true that God will live with man on the earth? See, heaven and the highest heaven cannot hold You. How much less can this house hold You which I have built!

But respect the prayer of Your servant and what he asks of You, O Lord my God. Listen to the cry and to the prayer which Your servant prays to You.

20 Q ue tus ojos estén abiertos día y noche sobre esta casa, sobre el lugar del cual has dicho que pondrías allí tu nombre, para que oigas la oración que tu siervo hará sobre este lugar.

May Your eyes be open day and night toward this house, the place where You have promised to put Your name. Listen to the prayer which Your servant prays toward this place.

21 Y escucha las súplicas de tu siervo y de tu pueblo Israel cuando oren hacia este lugar; escucha tú desde el lugar de tu morada, desde los cielos; escucha y perdona.

Listen to what Your servant and Your people Israel ask for when they pray toward this place. Hear from the place where You live, from heaven. Hear and forgive.

22 S i alguno peca contra su prójimo, y se le exige juramento, y viene y jura delante de tu altar en esta casa,

“If a man sins against his neighbor, and has to make a promise, and he comes and makes a promise before Your altar in this house,

23 e scucha tú desde los cielos y obra y juzga a tus siervos, castigando al impío, haciendo recaer su conducta sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo dándole conforme a su justicia.

then hear from heaven, and act. Judge Your servants. Punish the sinful by bringing his actions on his own head. And make it known that the one who is right and good is not guilty. Bring good to him because he is right and good.

24 Y si tu pueblo Israel es derrotado delante del enemigo por haber pecado contra ti, y se vuelven a ti y confiesan tu nombre, y oran y hacen súplica delante de ti en esta casa,

“If Your people Israel lose a battle against those who hate them, because they have sinned against You, and they return to You and tell of Your name, and pray and ask of You in this house,

25 e scucha tú desde los cielos y perdona el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y hazlos volver a la tierra que diste a ellos y a sus padres.

then listen to them from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel. Bring them back to the land You have given to them and to their fathers.

26 C uando los cielos estén cerrados y no haya lluvia por haber ellos pecado contra ti, y oren hacia este lugar y confiesen tu nombre, y se vuelvan de su pecado cuando tú los aflijas,

“When the heavens are shut up and give no rain because the people have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and tell of Your name, and turn from their sin when You bring trouble to them,

27 e scucha tú desde los cielos y perdona el pecado de tus siervos y de tu pueblo Israel; sí, enséñales el buen camino por el que deben andar, y envía lluvia sobre tu tierra, la que diste a tu pueblo por heredad.

then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants and Your people Israel. Teach them the good way in which they should walk. And send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people.

28 S i hay hambre en la tierra, si hay pestilencia, si hay tizón o añublo, langosta o saltamontes, si sus enemigos los sitian en la tierra de sus ciudades, cualquier plaga o cualquier enfermedad que haya,

“If there is a time of no food in the land, and if there is a disease that kills the plants, or if there are locusts or grasshoppers, if those who hate Your people send armies to trap them in their cities, whatever trouble or sickness there is,

29 t oda oración o toda súplica que sea hecha por cualquier hombre o por todo tu pueblo Israel, conociendo cada cual su aflicción y su dolor, y extendiendo sus manos hacia esta casa,

hear the prayer made by any man or by all Your people Israel. Each one will know his own trouble and his own pain. And when he spreads his hands toward this house,

30 e scucha tú desde los cielos, el lugar de tu morada, y perdona y da a cada uno conforme a todos sus caminos, ya que conoces su corazón (porque sólo tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres ),

then hear from heaven where You live, and forgive. Give to each man what he should have. For You, and only You, know the hearts of men.

31 p ara que te teman y anden en tus caminos todos los días que vivan sobre la faz de la tierra que diste a nuestros padres.

May they fear You and walk in Your ways as long as they live in the land You have given to our fathers.

32 T ambién en cuanto al extranjero que no es de tu pueblo Israel, cuando venga de una tierra lejana a causa de tu gran nombre y de tu mano poderosa y de tu brazo extendido, cuando ellos vengan a orar a esta casa,

“If a stranger who is not from Your people Israel comes from a far country because of Your great name, Your powerful hand, and Your strong arm, when he comes and prays toward this house,

33 e scucha tú desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, y haz conforme a todo lo que el extranjero te pida, para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu nombre, para que te teman, como te teme tu pueblo Israel, y para que sepan que tu nombre es invocado sobre esta casa que he edificado.

hear from heaven where You live. Do all that the stranger asks of You. Then all the people of the earth may know Your name and honor You with fear, as Your people Israel do. And then they may know that this house I have built is called by Your name.

34 C uando salga tu pueblo a la batalla contra sus enemigos, por cualquier camino que los envíes, y oren a ti vueltos hacia esta ciudad que has escogido, y hacia la casa que he edificado a tu nombre,

“When Your people go out to battle against those who hate them, by whatever way You send them, and they pray to You toward this city which You have chosen and the house I have built for Your name,

35 e scucha desde los cielos su oración y su súplica, y hazles justicia.

then hear their prayer from heaven and help them.

36 C uando pequen contra ti (pues no hay hombre que no peque ) y estés airado contra ellos, y los entregues delante del enemigo, y éstos los lleven cautivos a una tierra, lejana o cercana,

“When they sin against You, (for there is no man who does not sin), and You are angry with them and give them to those who hate them, they will be carried away against their will to a land far away or near.

37 s i recapacitan en la tierra adonde hayan sido llevados cautivos, y se arrepienten y te suplican en la tierra de su cautiverio, diciendo: “Hemos pecado, hemos cometido iniquidad y hemos obrado perversamente”;

If they think about it in the land where they have been taken, and are sorry for their sins and turn away from them and pray to You in the land where they have been taken, saying, ‘We have sinned. We have been bad and have done wrong.’

38 s i se vuelven a ti con todo su corazón y con toda su alma en la tierra de su cautiverio adonde hayan sido llevados cautivos, y oran vueltos hacia la tierra que diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que has escogido y hacia la casa que he edificado a tu nombre,

If they come back to You with all their heart and soul in the land where they have been taken and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers and toward the city You have chosen and toward the house I have built for Your name,

39 e scucha tú desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, su oración y sus súplicas, hazles justicia y perdona a tu pueblo que ha pecado contra ti.

then hear from heaven where You live. Hear their prayer and what they ask for, and help them. Forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

40 A hora, oh Dios mío, te ruego que tus ojos estén abiertos y tus oídos atentos a la oración elevada en este lugar.

“Now, O my God, I ask You, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears listen to the prayer given in this place.

41 A hora pues, levántate, oh Señor Dios, hacia tu reposo, tú y el arca de tu poder; que tus sacerdotes, oh Señor Dios, se revistan de salvación y tus santos se regocijen en lo que es bueno.

Now rise up, O Lord God. Go to Your resting place, You and the special box of Your power. O Lord God, let Your religious leaders be dressed in saving power. Let those who belong to You be filled with joy in what is good.

42 O h Señor Dios, no rechaces el rostro de tu ungido; acuérdate de tus misericordias para con tu siervo David.

O Lord God, do not turn away the face of Your chosen one. Remember Your loving-kindness to Your servant David.”
