1 E very wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

2 H e that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

3 I n the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Los labios del necio derraman soberbia; los labios de los sabios son su protección.

4 W here no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Sin bueyes el granero no se llena; gracias a su fuerza, hay abundancia de pan.

5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

El testigo verdadero no miente; el testigo falso esparce calumnias.

6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

El burlón busca la sabiduría y no da con ella; el hombre entendido la encuentra fácilmente.

7 G o from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

No te juntes con gente necia, porque nada aprenderás de lo que te digan.

8 T he wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

El que es sabio y astuto sabe por dónde va; a los necios los engaña su propia necedad.

9 F ools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Los necios se burlan del pecado; los hombres rectos se ganan la buena voluntad.

10 T he heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

Cada corazón conoce su propia amargura, y ningún extraño participa de su alegría.

11 T he house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

La mansión de los impíos será derribada, pero la choza de los hombres rectos permanece.

12 T here is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Hay caminos que el hombre considera rectos, pero que al final conducen a la muerte.

13 E ven in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

Hasta de reírse duele el corazón; a veces la alegría acaba en congoja.

14 T he backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

El corazón necio se harta de sus caminos, pero el hombre de bien va feliz por los suyos.

15 T he simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

El inexperto cree todo lo que oye; el que es astuto mira por dónde anda.

16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

El sabio teme a Dios y se aparta del mal, pero el necio se muestra temerario y engreído.

17 H e that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

El que fácilmente se enoja comete locuras; el hombre perverso es aborrecido.

18 T he simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

La necedad es la herencia de los simplones; los astutos se cubren de conocimientos.

19 T he evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

Los malvados se inclinarán ante los buenos, y los impíos comparecerán ante los justos.

20 T he poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

Al pobre lo odian hasta sus amigos; al rico, todo el mundo lo quiere.

21 H e that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

El que humilla a su prójimo comete un pecado; ¡feliz de aquél que se compadece de los pobres!

22 D o they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

Los que urden el mal pierden el rumbo; los que piensan el bien encuentran amor y verdad.

23 I n all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Toda labor rinde sus frutos, pero hablar por hablar empobrece.

24 T he crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Las riquezas son la corona de los sabios; la corona de los necios es su necedad.

25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

El testigo verdadero te salva la vida; el testigo falso te difama.

26 I n the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

El temor del Señor infunde plena confianza, y da esperanza a nuestros hijos.

27 T he fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

El temor del Señor es un manantial de vida, que nos aparta de los lazos de la muerte.

28 I n the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

Un pueblo numeroso es la gloria del rey; un pueblo escaso es la debilidad del príncipe.

29 H e that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Enojo lento, gran inteligencia; espíritu impaciente, demasiada necedad.

30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Un corazón apacible infunde vida al cuerpo, pero la envidia corroe hasta los huesos.

31 H e that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

Oprimir al pobre es afrentar al Creador; tener misericordia del pobre es honrar a Dios.

32 T he wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Al malvado lo pierde su propia maldad; el justo, aun en la muerte mantiene la esperanza.

33 W isdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

La sabiduría reposa en el corazón prudente, pero entre los necios es desconocida.

34 R ighteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Un pueblo justo es un gran pueblo, pero el pecado deshonra a las naciones.

35 T he king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

El rey es amable con el siervo inteligente, pero se enoja con el que lo avergüenza.
