1 A nd when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions.

Cuando la reina de Sabá oyó hablar de la fama del rey Salomón, que honraba el nombre del Señor, quiso verlo y ponerlo a prueba con preguntas difíciles.

2 A nd she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

Llegó a Jerusalén acompañada de un gran séquito: llevaba camellos cargados con especias, y oro en abundancia y piedras preciosas. Al llegar a la presencia de Salomón, le hizo toda clase de preguntas,

3 A nd Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.

y Salomón las respondió una a una. No hubo nada para lo cual Salomón no tuviera una respuesta.

4 A nd when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built,

Y al ver la reina de Sabá cuán sabio era Salomón, y el templo que había edificado,

5 a nd the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the Lord; there was no more spirit in her.

y al probar los manjares de su mesa y examinar las habitaciones de sus oficiales, y la calidad de las vestiduras que llevaban los sirvientes responsables de los manjares, y los holocaustos que se ofrecían en el templo del Señor, se quedó asombrada.

6 A nd she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.

Entonces le dijo al rey: «Ya he visto que es verdad todo lo que escuché en mi país acerca de ti y de tu sabiduría.

7 H owbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

Yo no lo creía; por eso vine a comprobarlo por mí misma. ¡Y lo que me contaron no es ni la mitad de lo que he visto con mis propios ojos! Tu sabiduría y tus posesiones son mayores que la fama que te precedía.

8 H appy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.

¡Qué afortunados son tus súbditos! ¡Qué dichosos son tus sirvientes, que siempre están en tu presencia y escuchan tu sabiduría!

9 B lessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the Lord loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.

¡Bendito sea el Señor, tu Dios, que se agradó de ti y te puso en el trono de Israel! Yo sé que el Señor siempre ha amado a su pueblo Israel. Por eso te puso como su rey, para que lo gobiernes con rectitud y justicia.»

10 A nd she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

Dicho esto, la reina de Sabá le obsequió a Salomón tres mil novecientos sesenta kilos de oro, gran cantidad de especias y piedras preciosas. Nunca antes se había visto tal cantidad de especias como las que la reina de Sabá le obsequió al rey Salomón.

11 A nd the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.

También la flota de Jirán, que había llevado oro de Ofir, llegó con mucha madera de sándalo y más piedras preciosas.

12 A nd the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the Lord, and for the king’s house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.

Con la madera de sándalo, Salomón mandó hacer barandillas para el templo del Señor y para el palacio real, y además mandó fabricar arpas y salterios para los cantores. Nunca antes hubo en Israel tal cantidad de madera de sándalo, ni se ha vuelto a ver.

13 A nd king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

Cuando la reina de Sabá regresó a su país con todo su séquito, el rey Salomón le dio cuanto ella quiso y pidió, además de lo que ya le había dado. Riquezas y fama de Salomón

14 N ow the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

La renta que Salomón recibía anualmente era de veintidós mil kilos de oro,

15 b eside that he had of the merchantmen, and of the traffick of the spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the country.

sin contar los tributos de los mercaderes, de las especias, y de los reyes de Arabia y los gobernadores del país.

16 A nd king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of gold went to one target.

Además, el rey Salomón mandó forjar doscientos grandes escudos bañados en oro. En cada escudo se emplearon seis kilos de oro.

17 A nd he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pound of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

También mandó forjar otros trescientos escudos más pequeños, bañados en oro, que hizo colocar en el palacio conocido como Bosque del Líbano. En cada uno se emplearon un kilo y medio de oro.

18 M oreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the best gold.

Luego mandó hacer un gran trono de marfil recubierto del oro más refinado.

19 T he throne had six steps, and the top of the throne was round behind: and there were stays on either side on the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the stays.

El trono tenía seis escalones; el respaldo era redondo y con brazos laterales, junto a los cuales había dos leones.

20 A nd twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.

En los seis escalones había doce leones, puestos uno frente al otro en cada escalón. En ningún otro reino conocido había un trono tan suntuoso.

21 A nd all king Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; none were of silver: it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

Toda la vajilla y todas las copas del palacio del Bosque del Líbano eran de oro fino. De plata no había nada, porque en los días de Salomón la plata no era apreciada.

22 F or the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

Y como el rey Salomón tenía una flota de naves de Tarsis junto con la flota de Jirán, una vez cada tres años llegaban las naves de Tarsis cargadas con oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.

23 S o king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.

Las riquezas y la sabiduría de Salomón excedían a las de todos los reyes de la tierra.

24 A nd all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

Muchos procuraban ver al rey Salomón para escuchar de sus labios la sabiduría que el Señor le había dado,

25 A nd they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

y cada año le llevaba valiosos presentes: alhajas de oro y de plata, vestiduras finas, armas, especias aromáticas, y caballos y mulos. Salomón comercia en caballos y en carros

26 A nd Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the cities for chariots, and with the king at Jerusalem.

Salomón llegó a reunir mil cuatrocientos carros de guerra y doce mil jinetes. Los carros estaban en los cuarteles destinados a ellos, y también al cuidado de la guardia real en Jerusalén.

27 A nd the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore trees that are in the vale, for abundance.

Salomón tenía tantas riquezas que la plata llegó a ser tan común como las piedras, y la madera de cedro como las higueras silvestres de los llanos.

28 A nd Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

Los mercaderes de Salomón compraban a Egipto caballos y telas finas.

29 A nd a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.

Los carros que salían de Egipto costaban seiscientas monedas de plata, y los caballos, ciento cincuenta; y así eran vendidos a los reyes hititas y sirios.
