1 M oreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

La palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías por segunda vez, mientras él estaba aún preso en el patio de la cárcel. Le dijo:

2 T hus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;

«Yo, el Señor, que hizo la tierra y la formó para afirmarla, y cuyo nombre es el Señor, declaro:

3 c all unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Clama a mí, y yo te responderé; te daré a conocer cosas grandes y maravillosas que tú no conoces.

4 F or thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;

Yo, el Señor y Dios de Israel, declaro acerca de las casas de esta ciudad, y de los palacios de los reyes de Judá, que han sido derribados con arietes y con hachas.

5 t hey come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

Los caldeos han llegado a combatir y a llenar las casas con los cadáveres de los que yo herí en mi furor y mi enojo, pues yo escondí mi rostro de esta ciudad por causa de toda su maldad.

6 B ehold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

Pero les traeré salud y medicamentos, y los sanaré, y les haré experimentar una paz abundante y duradera.

7 A nd I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

Haré volver a los cautivos de Judá y de Israel, y los restableceré como al principio.

8 A nd I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

Los limpiaré de toda la maldad que los llevó a pecar contra mí, y les perdonaré todos los pecados que cometieron contra mí, y también sus rebeldías.

9 A nd it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

Entre todas las naciones de la tierra, que sabrán de todo el bien que les haré, Jerusalén será para mí motivo de gozo, alabanza y gloria. Y las naciones temerán y temblarán al ver todo el bien que les haré y toda la paz que les haré.

10 T hus saith the Lord; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

»Yo, el Señor, declaro: En este lugar, del cual dicen que está desierto y sin gente ni animales, y en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, que ahora están en ruinas, sin gente ni animales,

11 t he voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the Lord.

volverá a escucharse la voz de gozo y de alegría, la voz del novio y de la novia, la voz de los que dicen: “¡Alabemos al Señor de los ejércitos, porque el Señor es bueno, porque su misericordia es eterna!”, la voz de los que traen a mi casa ofrendas de acción de gracias. Porque yo haré que cambie la suerte de esta tierra, la cual volverá a ser lo que antes fue. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.

12 T hus saith the Lord of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

»Yo, el Señor de los ejércitos, declaro: En este lugar desierto, sin gente ni animales, y en todas sus ciudades, volverá a haber pastos donde los pastores harán pacer a sus ganados.

13 I n the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the Lord.

En las ciudades de las montañas y de la Sefela, y en las ciudades del Néguev en la tierra de Benjamín y alrededor de Jerusalén, y en las ciudades de Judá, se volverán a contar los ganados. Yo, el Señor, lo he dicho.

14 B ehold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

»Vienen días en que yo confirmaré las buenas promesas que he hecho a la casa de Israel y a la casa de Judá. —Palabra del Señor.

15 I n those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

»Cuando llegue el día y el momento, haré que de David surja un Renuevo de justicia, que impondrá la justicia y el derecho en la tierra.

16 I n those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness.

En esos días Judá será salvado, y Jerusalén habitará segura y será llamada “El Señor es nuestra justicia”.

17 F or thus saith the Lord; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

»Yo, el Señor, declaro: Nunca faltará un sucesor de David en el trono de la casa de Israel.

18 n either shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

Tampoco faltarán sacerdotes ni levitas que todos los días ofrezcan ante mí holocaustos, ofrendas quemadas y sacrificios.»

19 A nd the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, saying,

La palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías, y le dijo:

20 T hus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

«Yo, el Señor, declaro: El día que mi pacto con el día y con la noche llegue a su fin, de tal manera que no vuelva a haber ni día ni noche,

21 t hen may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

ese día también llegará a su fin mi pacto con mi siervo David para que sus descendientes reinen sobre su trono, lo mismo que mi pacto con los levitas y sacerdotes, mis ministros.

22 A s the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

Porque yo multiplicaré la descendencia de mi siervo David, y la de los levitas que me sirven. Serán como el ejército del cielo, que no puede ser contado, y como la arena del mar, que no se puede medir.»

23 M oreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

La palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías, y le dijo:

24 C onsiderest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the Lord hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

«¿Te has fijado que hay quienes dicen que yo, el Señor, he rechazado a las dos familias que escogí? ¡Tan en poco tienen a Israel y Judá que ya no los consideran una nación!

25 T hus saith the Lord; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

Pues yo, el Señor, declaro: Si mi pacto con el día y la noche dejara de tener validez, y quitara yo las leyes que gobiernan al cielo y a la tierra,

26 t hen will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

entonces también llegaría yo a rechazar a la descendencia de Jacob y de mi siervo David, y no tomaría a ninguno de sus descendientes para gobernar a la posteridad de Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob. Pero lo cierto es que yo haré volver a sus cautivos, y tendré de ellos misericordia.»
