1 M y son! to my wisdom give attention, To mine understanding incline thine ear,

我 兒 ， 要 留 心 我 智 慧 的 話 語 ， 側 耳 聽 我 聰 明 的 言 詞 ，

2 T o observe thoughtfulness, And knowledge do thy lips keep.

為 要 使 你 謹 守 謀 略 ， 嘴 唇 保 存 知 識 。

3 F or the lips of a strange woman drop honey, And smoother than oil her mouth,

因 為 淫 婦 的 嘴 滴 下 蜂 蜜 ； 他 的 口 比 油 更 滑 ，

4 A nd her latter end bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a sword mouths.

至 終 卻 苦 似 茵 蔯 ， 快 如 兩 刃 的 刀 。

5 H er feet are going down to death, Sheol do her steps take hold of.

他 的 腳 下 入 死 地 ； 他 腳 步 踏 住 陰 間 ，

6 T he path of life -- lest thou ponder, Moved have her paths -- thou knowest not.

以 致 他 找 不 著 生 命 平 坦 的 道 。 他 的 路 變 遷 不 定 ， 自 己 還 不 知 道 。

7 A nd now, ye sons, hearken to me, And turn not from sayings of my mouth.

眾 子 啊 ， 現 在 要 聽 從 我 ； 不 可 離 棄 我 口 中 的 話 。

8 K eep far from off her thy way, And come not near unto the opening of her house,

你 所 行 的 道 要 離 他 遠 ， 不 可 就 近 他 的 房 門 ，

9 L est thou give to others thy honour, And thy years to the fierce,

恐 怕 將 你 的 尊 榮 給 別 人 ， 將 你 的 歲 月 給 殘 忍 的 人 ；

10 L est strangers be filled thy power, And thy labours in the house of a stranger,

恐 怕 外 人 滿 得 你 的 力 量 ， 你 勞 碌 得 來 的 ， 歸 入 外 人 的 家 ；

11 A nd thou hast howled in thy latter end, In the consumption of thy flesh and thy food,

終 久 ， 你 皮 肉 和 身 體 消 毀 ， 你 就 悲 歎 ，

12 A nd hast said, `How have I hated instruction, And reproof hath my heart despised,

說 ： 我 怎 麼 恨 惡 訓 誨 ， 心 中 藐 視 責 備 ，

13 A nd I have not hearkened to the voice of my directors, And to my teachers have not inclined mine ear.

也 不 聽 從 我 師 傅 的 話 ， 又 不 側 耳 聽 那 教 訓 我 的 人 ？

14 A s a little thing I have been all evil, In the midst of an assembly and a company.

我 在 聖 會 裡 ， 幾 乎 落 在 諸 般 惡 中 。

15 D rink waters out of thine own cistern, Even flowing ones out of thine own well.

你 要 喝 自 己 池 中 的 水 ， 飲 自 己 井 裡 的 活 水 。

16 L et thy fountains be scattered abroad, In broad places rivulets of waters.

你 的 泉 源 豈 可 漲 溢 在 外 ？ 你 的 河 水 豈 可 流 在 街 上 ？

17 L et them be to thee for thyself, And not to strangers with thee.

惟 獨 歸 你 一 人 ， 不 可 與 外 人 同 用 。

18 L et thy fountain be blessed, And rejoice because of the wife of thy youth,

要 使 你 的 泉 源 蒙 福 ； 要 喜 悅 你 幼 年 所 娶 的 妻 。

19 A hind of loves, and a roe of grace! Let her loves satisfy thee at all times, In her love magnify thyself continually.

他 如 可 愛 的 麀 鹿 ， 可 喜 的 母 鹿 ； 願 他 的 胸 懷 使 你 時 時 知 足 ， 他 的 愛 情 使 你 常 常 戀 慕 。

20 A nd why dost thou magnify thyself, My son, with a stranger? And embrace the bosom of a strange woman?

我 兒 ， 你 為 何 戀 慕 淫 婦 ？ 為 何 抱 外 女 的 胸 懷 ？

21 F or over-against the eyes of Jehovah are the ways of each, And all his paths He is pondering.

因 為 ， 人 所 行 的 道 都 在 耶 和 華 眼 前 ； 他 也 修 平 人 一 切 的 路 。

22 H is own iniquities do capture the wicked, And with the ropes of his sin he is holden.

惡 人 必 被 自 己 的 罪 孽 捉 住 ； 他 必 被 自 己 的 罪 惡 如 繩 索 纏 繞 。

23 H e dieth without instruction, And in the abundance of his folly magnifieth himself!

他 因 不 受 訓 誨 就 必 死 亡 ； 又 因 愚 昧 過 甚 ， 必 走 差 了 路 。
