1 A cuérdate, Jehová, de lo que nos ha sucedido; mira, y ve nuestro oprobio.
O Lord, remember what has happened to us. Look, and see our shame!
2 N uestra heredad ha pasado a extraños, nuestras casas a forasteros.
The land we received from You has been given over to strangers. Our homes have been given to people from other lands.
3 H uérfanos somos, sin padre; nuestras madres son como viudas.
We have lost our fathers. Our mothers are like those who have lost their husbands.
4 P or dinero bebemos el agua; por la leña pagamos un precio.
We have to pay for our drinking water, and we must buy our wood.
5 P adecemos persecución, caen sobre nosotros, nos fatigamos y no hay para nosotros reposo.
Those who come after us are at our necks. We are tired and cannot rest.
6 A l egipcio y al asirio extendimos la mano para saciarnos de pan.
We have put out our hands to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
7 N uestros padres pecaron y han muerto, pero nosotros llevamos su castigo.
Our fathers sinned, and are no more, and we have suffered for their sins.
8 L os siervos dominan sobre nosotros, y nadie nos libra de sus manos.
Servants rule over us. There is no one to save us from their hand.
9 T raemos nuestro pan haciendo peligrar nuestra vida ante la espada del desierto.
We put our lives in danger to get our bread, because of the sword in the desert.
10 N uestra piel se ha ennegrecido como un horno a causa del ardor del hambre.
Our skin has become as hot as fire because of the burning heat of hunger.
11 V iolaron a las mujeres en Sión, a las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.
They have taken and sinned against the women in Zion, and the young women who have never had a man in the cities of Judah.
12 A los príncipes colgaron de las manos; no respetaron el rostro de los viejos.
Rulers were hung by their hands. Leaders were not respected.
13 L levaron a los jóvenes a mover el molino, y los muchachos desfallecían bajo el peso de la leña.
Young men worked to grind the grain, and boys fell under loads of wood.
14 Y a no se ven los ancianos en la puerta, y los jóvenes han dejado sus canciones.
The old men have left the city gate. Young men have stopped playing their music.
15 C esó el gozo de nuestro corazón, y nuestra danza se cambió en luto.
The joy of our hearts has come to an end. Our dancing has been turned into sorrow.
16 L a corona ha caído de nuestra cabeza. ¡Ay ahora de nosotros, porque hemos pecado!
The crown has fallen from our head. It is bad for us, for we have sinned!
17 P or esto tenemos entristecido el corazón y nos han entenebrecido nuestros ojos:
Because of this our heart is weak. Because of these things our eyes are weak.
18 p or el monte Sión, que está asolado y las zorras andan por él.
Mount Zion lies in waste, so foxes run all over it.
19 M as tú, Jehová, permanecerás para siempre; tu trono, de generación en generación.
O Lord, You rule forever. Your throne will last for all people-to-come.
20 ¿ Por qué te olvidas completamente de nosotros y nos abandonas por tan largo tiempo?
Why do You forget us forever? Why do You leave us alone for so long?
21 H aznos volver a ti, Jehová, y nos volveremos; renueva nuestros días como al principio.
Return us to You, O Lord. Bring us back. Make our days as they were before.
22 ¿ O acaso es que ya nos has desechado y estás airado del todo contra nosotros?
Or have You turned away from us forever? Is there no end to Your anger?
