1 N adab y Abiú, hijos de Aarón, tomaron cada uno su incensario, pusieron en ellos fuego, le echaron incienso encima, y ofrecieron delante de Jehová un fuego extraño, que él nunca les había mandado.

Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, each took his fire pan, put fire in it, and put special perfume on it. They gave a fire that was not holy to the Lord because the Lord had not told them to do this.

2 E ntonces salió de la presencia de Jehová un fuego que los quemó, y murieron delante de Jehová.

So the Lord sent out fire that burned them up and they died before the Lord.

3 L uego dijo Moisés a Aarón: «Esto es lo que Jehová afirmó cuando dijo: “En los que a mí se acercan me santificaré, y en presencia de todo el pueblo seré glorificado.”» Y Aarón calló.

Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord meant when He said, ‘I will show Myself holy among those who are near Me. I will be honored in front of all the people.’” And Aaron said nothing.

4 D espués Moisés llamó a Misael y a Elzafán, hijos de Uziel, tío de Aarón, y les dijo: «Acercaos y sacad a vuestros hermanos de delante del santuario, fuera del campamento.»

Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, the brother of Aaron’s father. He said to them, “Come, carry your brothers away from the holy place and away from the tents.”

5 E llos se acercaron y los sacaron en sus túnicas fuera del campamento, como dijo Moisés.

So they came and carried them in their coats away from the tents, as Moses had said.

6 E ntonces Moisés dijo a Aarón y a sus hijos Eleazar e Itamar: «No descubráis vuestras cabezas ni rasguéis vuestros vestidos en señal de duelo, para que no muráis, ni se levante la ira sobre toda la congregación; pero vuestros hermanos, toda la casa de Israel, sí se lamentarán por el fuego que ha encendido Jehová.

Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “Do not take the covering off your heads and do not tear your clothes, so you will not die and God will not be angry with all the people. But your brothers, the whole house of Israel, will cry in sorrow because of the burning the Lord has done.

7 N o os alejéis de la puerta del Tabernáculo de reunión, porque moriréis, pues el aceite de la unción de Jehová está sobre vosotros.» Y ellos hicieron conforme al dicho de Moisés.

Do not even go out the door of the meeting tent, so you will not die. For the holy oil of the Lord is upon you.” And they did what Moses said. How the Religious Leaders Were to Act

8 E ntonces Jehová habló a Aarón y le dijo:

The Lord said to Aaron,

9 « Ni tú ni tus hijos debéis beber vino ni sidra cuando entréis en el Tabernáculo de reunión, para que no muráis. Estatuto perpetuo será para vuestras generaciones,

“Do not drink wine or strong drink, you or your sons, when you come into the meeting tent, so you will not die. It is a Law forever for all your people.

10 p ara poder discernir entre lo santo y lo profano, y entre lo inmundo y lo limpio,

You are to know the difference between what is holy and what is not, and between what is clean and what is not.

11 y enseñar a los hijos de Israel todos los estatutos que Jehová les ha dado por medio de Moisés.»

You are to teach the people of Israel all the Laws which the Lord has told them by Moses.”

12 M oisés dijo a Aarón y a Eleazar e Itamar, los hijos que le habían quedado: «Tomad la ofrenda que queda de las ofrendas encendidas a Jehová, y comedla sin levadura junto al altar, porque es cosa muy santa.

Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons who were left, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Take the grain gift that is left from the gifts by fire to the Lord. And eat it without yeast beside the altar, for it is most holy.

13 L a comeréis, pues, en lugar santo, porque esto es lo reservado a ti y a tus hijos de las ofrendas quemadas a Jehová, pues así me ha sido mandado.

Eat it in a holy place, because it is yours and your sons’, from the gifts by fire to the Lord. For so I have been told.

14 C omeréis asimismo en lugar limpio, tú y contigo tus hijos y tus hijas, el pecho mecido y la pierna reservada, porque por derecho son tuyos y de tus hijos, dados de los sacrificios de paz de los hijos de Israel.

But you and your sons and daughters may eat in a clean place the breast of the wave gift and the thigh that is given. For they are given to you as your right and your sons’ right, from the peace gifts of the people of Israel.

15 C on las ofrendas de las grasas que se han de quemar, traerán la pierna que se ha de reservar y el pecho que será mecido como ofrenda mecida delante de Jehová; serán para ti y tus hijos derecho perpetuo, como Jehová lo ha mandado.»

They will bring the thigh that is given and the breast of the wave gift, with the gifts by fire of the fat. They will wave them before the Lord for a wave gift. They will be yours and your sons’, as your right forever, as the Lord has said.”

16 E ntonces Moisés preguntó por el macho cabrío de la expiación, pero se encontró con que ya había sido quemado. Enojado contra Eleazar e Itamar, los hijos que habían quedado de Aarón, dijo:

But Moses looked and looked for the goat of the sin gift, and found that it had been burned up! So he was angry with Aaron’s sons who were left, Eleazar and Ithamar, saying,

17 — ¿Por qué no comisteis la expiación en lugar santo? Pues es muy santa, y él os la dio para llevar el pecado de la comunidad, para que sean reconciliados delante de Jehová.

“Why have you not eaten the sin gift in the holy place? For it is most holy and He gave it to you to take away the guilt of the people, to take away their sins before the Lord.

18 V ed que la sangre no fue llevada dentro del santuario, por lo que vosotros debíais comer la ofrenda en el lugar santo, como yo mandé.

See, its blood has not been brought inside the holy place. You should have been sure to eat it in the holy place, as I told you.”

19 A arón respondió a Moisés: —Mira, hoy han ofrecido su expiación y su holocausto delante de Jehová, pero a mí me han sucedido estas cosas. Si yo hubiera comido hoy del sacrificio de expiación, ¿sería esto grato a Jehová?

But Aaron said to Moses, “See, today they have given their sin gift and their burnt gift to the Lord. When things like these happened to me, if I had eaten a sin gift today, would it have been good in the eyes of the Lord?”

20 C uando Moisés oyó esto, se dio por satisfecho.

And when Moses heard that, he was not angry any more.
