1 C uando Jabín, rey de Hazor, se enteró de esto, envió un mensaje a Jobab, rey de Madón, al rey de Simrón, al rey de Acsaf

Jabin king of Hazor heard what had happened. He sent news to Jobab king of Madon and to the kings of Shimron and Achshaph.

2 y a los reyes que estaban en la región del norte en las montañas, y en el Arabá al sur de Cineret, en los llanos y en las regiones de Dor al occidente,

He sent news to the kings in the hill country to the north, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the valleys, and in the high land of Dor to the west.

3 a l cananeo que estaba al oriente y al occidente, al amorreo, al heteo, al ferezeo, al jebuseo en las montañas, y al heveo al pie de Hermón en tierra de Mizpa.

He sent news to the Canaanite in the east and in the west, and the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite at the base of Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

4 E stos salieron con todos sus ejércitos, una multitud tan numerosa como la arena que está a la orilla del mar, con muchísimos caballos y carros de guerra.

Then they came out, they and all their armies with them. There were as many people as the sand beside the sea. And they had very many horses and war-wagons.

5 T odos estos reyes se unieron, llegaron y acamparon unidos junto a las aguas de Merom para pelear contra Israel.

All of these kings met and came and stayed together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

6 P ero Jehová dijo a Josué: «No les tengas temor, porque mañana a esta hora yo los entregaré a todos muertos delante de Israel; desjarretarás sus caballos y quemarás sus carros en el fuego.»

“Do not be afraid,” the Lord said to Joshua. “For tomorrow at this time I will have killed all of them for Israel. You will cut the legs of their horses and burn their war-wagons with fire.”

7 J osué, con toda su gente de guerra, se lanzó de repente contra ellos junto a las aguas de Merom.

So Joshua with all the men of war came upon them by surprise at the waters of Merom, and fought against them.

8 J ehová los entregó en manos de Israel, que los hirió y los persiguió hasta Sidón la grande, hasta Misrefot-maim y el llano de Mizpa, al oriente. Los hirió hasta no dejar ninguno con vida.

And the Lord gave them into the hand of Israel. They won the war against them and ran after them as far as the big city of Sidon and Misrephoth-maim and the valley of Mizpeh to the east. They killed them until no one was left alive.

9 J osué hizo con ellos como Jehová le había mandado: desjarretó sus caballos y quemó sus carros en el fuego.

Joshua did to them as the Lord had told him. He cut the legs of their horses and burned their war-wagons with fire.

10 P or entonces regresó Josué, tomó a Hazor y mató a espada a su rey, pues Hazor había sido antes cabeza de todos estos reinos.

Then Joshua turned back and took Hazor and killed its king with the sword. For Hazor had been the head of all these nations.

11 P asaron a espada todo cuanto en ella tenía vida, destruyéndolo todo por completo, sin que quedara nada capaz de respirar, y prendieron fuego a Hazor.

They killed every person in it with the sword, destroying all of them. There was no one left who breathed. Then he burned Hazor with fire.

12 A simismo tomó Josué todas las ciudades de aquellos reyes, y a todos sus reyes los pasó a filo de espada y los exterminó, como Moisés, siervo de Jehová, lo había mandado.

Joshua took all the cities of these kings, and all their kings and killed them with the sword. He destroyed all of them, just as the Lord’s servant Moses had told him.

13 P ero Israel no quemó todas las ciudades que estaban sobre colinas; Josué quemó únicamente a Hazor.

But Israel did not burn any cities that stood on their hills, except Hazor, which Joshua burned.

14 L os hijos de Israel tomaron para sí todo el botín y las bestias de aquellas ciudades; pero pasaron a todos los hombres a filo de espada hasta exterminarlos, sin dejar ninguno con vida.

The sons of Israel took for themselves all the riches of these cities and the cattle. But they killed every man with the sword until they had destroyed them. They left no one who breathed.

15 D e la manera que Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés, su siervo, así Moisés lo mandó a Josué, y así lo hizo Josué, sin quitar una palabra de todo lo que Jehová había mandado a Moisés. Josué se apodera de toda la tierra

What the Lord had told His servant Moses to do, he told Joshua, and Joshua did it. He did everything the Lord had told Moses.

16 C onquistó, pues, Josué toda aquella tierra, las montañas, todo el Neguev, toda la tierra de Gosén, los llanos, el Arabá, las montañas de Israel y sus valles,

So Joshua took all that land. He took the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of Goshen, the valleys, the Arabah, the hill country of Israel and its valleys.

17 d esde el monte Halac, que sube hacia Seir, hasta Baal-gad, en la llanura del Líbano, a la falda del monte Hermón. Capturó asimismo a todos sus reyes, los hirió y mató.

He took the land from Mount Halak which goes up to Seir as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon at the base of Mount Hermon. He took all their kings and killed them.

18 D urante mucho tiempo estuvo Josué en guerra con estos reyes.

Joshua made war against these kings for a long time.

19 N o hubo ciudad que hiciera la paz con los hijos de Israel, salvo los heveos que habitaban en Gabaón; todas las tomaron por la fuerza.

There was not a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivites living in Gibeon. They took them all in battle.

20 P orque de Jehová provenía que endurecieran su corazón para que opusieran resistencia a Israel, a fin de exterminarlos sin misericordia y fueran así aniquilados, como Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés.

For the Lord made their hearts hard to meet Israel in battle, so Israel might destroy all of them. They would not be shown pity but would be destroyed, just as the Lord had told Moses.

21 T ambién en aquel tiempo fue Josué y destruyó a los anaceos de los montes de Hebrón, de Debir, de Anab, de todos los montes de Judá y de todos los montes de Israel. Josué los destruyó a ellos y a sus ciudades.

At that time Joshua went and killed the big powerful men in the hill country. He killed them in Hebron, Debir, Anab, and all the hill country of Judah and Israel. Joshua destroyed all of them with their cities.

22 N inguno de los anaceos quedó en la tierra de los hijos de Israel; solamente quedaron en Gaza, en Gat y en Asdod.

There were no big powerful men left in the land of the people of Israel. Some were left only in Gaza, Gath and Ashdod.

23 C onquistó, pues, Josué toda la tierra, conforme a todo lo que Jehová había dicho a Moisés, y la entregó a los israelitas como herencia conforme a su distribución por tribus. Y la tierra descansó de la guerra.

So Joshua took the whole land, just as the Lord had told Moses. And Joshua gave it as a gift to Israel, a share for each family group. Then the land had rest from war.
