1 B ienaventurado el que piensa en el pobre; en el día malo lo librará Jehová.

Happy is the man who cares for the poor. The Lord will save him in times of trouble.

2 J ehová lo guardará, le dará vida y será bienaventurado en la tierra. No lo entregarás a la voluntad de sus enemigos.

The Lord will keep him alive and safe. And he will be happy upon the earth. You will not give him over to the desire of those who hate him.

3 J ehová lo sostendrá en el lecho del dolor; ablandará su cama en la enfermedad.

The Lord will give him strength on his bed of sickness. When he is sick, You will make him well again.

4 Y o dije: «Jehová, ten misericordia de mí, sana mi alma, porque contra ti he pecado.»

As for me, I said, “O Lord, have loving-kindness for me. Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

5 M is enemigos hablan mal de mí, preguntando: «¿Cuándo morirá y perecerá su nombre?»

Those who hate me speak bad words against me, saying, “When will he die, and his name be forgotten?”

6 Y si vienen a verme, hablan mentira; recogen malas noticias y al salir afuera las divulgan.

When one comes to see me, he speaks lies. His heart gathers up bad stories. Then he goes outside and tells them.

7 R eunidos murmuran contra mí todos los que me aborrecen; contra mí piensan mal, diciendo:

All who hate me speak in secret together against me. They make plans to hurt me, saying,

8 « Cosa maligna se ha apoderado de él; el que cayó en cama no volverá a levantarse.»

“A bad thing has come over him. When he lies down, he will not rise again.”

9 A un el hombre de mi paz, en quien yo confiaba, el que de mi pan comía, alzó el pie contra mí.

Even a friend of mine whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has turned against me.

10 M as tú, Jehová, ten misericordia de mí y hazme levantar, y les daré el pago.

Have loving-kindness for me, O Lord. Raise me up, so that I may pay them back.

11 E n esto conoceré que te he agradado: en que mi enemigo no se alegre de mí.

Then I will know that You are pleased with me, because he who hates me does not win over me.

12 E n cuanto a mí, en mi integridad me has sustentado y me has hecho estar delante de ti para siempre.

As for me, You hold me up in my honesty. And You set me beside You forever.

13 ¡ Bendito sea Jehová, el Dios de Israel, por los siglos de los siglos! ¡Amén y amén!

Honor be to the Lord, the God of Israel, forever and ever! Let it be so!
