1 R emind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed,

2 t o malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.

Que a nadie difamen, que no sean amigos de contiendas, sino amables, mostrando toda mansedumbre para con toda la humanidad.

3 F or we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

Nosotros también éramos en otro tiempo insensatos, rebeldes, extraviados, esclavos de placeres y deleites diversos, viviendo en malicia y envidia, odiados y odiándonos unos a otros.

4 B ut when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,

Pero cuando se manifestó la bondad de Dios, nuestro Salvador, y su amor para con la humanidad,

5 H e saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

nos salvó, no por obras de justicia que nosotros hubiéramos hecho, sino por su misericordia, por el lavamiento de la regeneración y por la renovación en el Espíritu Santo,

6 w hom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

el cual derramó en nosotros abundantemente por Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador,

7 s o that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

para que, justificados por su gracia, llegáramos a ser herederos conforme a la esperanza de la vida eterna.

8 T his is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.

Palabra fiel es ésta, y en estas cosas quiero que insistas con firmeza, para que los que creen en Dios procuren ocuparse en buenas obras. Estas cosas son buenas y útiles a los hombres.

9 B ut avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.

Pero evita las cuestiones necias, como genealogías, contiendas y discusiones acerca de la Ley, porque son vanas y sin provecho.

10 R eject a factious man after a first and second warning,

Al que cause divisiones, después de una y otra amonestación deséchalo,

11 k nowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned. Personal Concerns

sabiendo que el tal se ha pervertido, y que peca y está condenado por su propio juicio. Instrucciones personales

Y aprendan también los nuestros a ocuparse en buenas obras para los casos de necesidad, para que no se queden sin dar fruto. Salutaciones y bendición final
