1 T hen Solomon said, “The Lord has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud.

2 “ I have built You a lofty house, And a place for Your dwelling forever.”

Pero yo he querido edificarte una morada, un lugar en que vivas para siempre.»

3 T hen the king faced about and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing.

Luego el rey se volvió y bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel, mientras toda la congregación de Israel estaba en pie.

4 H e said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has fulfilled it with His hands, saying,

5 ‘ Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man for a leader over My people Israel;

“Desde el día que saqué a mi pueblo de la tierra de Egipto, ninguna ciudad he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar Casa donde estuviera mi nombre, ni he escogido otro hombre para que fuera príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel.

6 b ut I have chosen Jerusalem that My name might be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’

Pero a Jerusalén he elegido para que en ella esté mi nombre, y a David he elegido para que esté sobre mi pueblo Israel.”

7 N ow it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

David, mi padre, tuvo en su corazón edificar Casa al nombre de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

8 B ut the Lord said to my father David, ‘Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.

Pero Jehová dijo a David mi padre: “Respecto a haber sentido en tu corazón el deseo de edificar una Casa a mi nombre, bien has hecho en haber tenido esto en tu corazón.

9 N evertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will be born to you, he shall build the house for My name.’

Pero tú no edificarás la Casa, sino un hijo tuyo, salido de tus entrañas, él edificará la Casa a mi nombre.”

10 N ow the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in the place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

»Pues bien, Jehová ha cumplido su promesa: me levanté yo en lugar de David, mi padre, y me he sentado en el trono de Israel, como Jehová había dicho, y he edificado una Casa al nombre de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

11 T here I have set the ark in which is the covenant of the Lord, which He made with the sons of Israel.” Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication

En ella he puesto el Arca, en la cual está el pacto que Jehová celebró con los hijos de Israel.»

12 T hen he stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.

Se puso luego Salomón delante del altar de Jehová, en presencia de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendió sus manos;

13 N ow Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and he stood on it, knelt on his knees in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.

pues Salomón había hecho un estrado de bronce de cinco codos de largo, cinco codos de ancho y tres codos de alto, y lo había puesto en medio del atrio; y poniéndose sobre él se arrodilló delante de toda la congregación de Israel, extendió sus manos al cielo y dijo:

14 H e said, “O Lord, the God of Israel, there is no god like You in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing lovingkindness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart;

«Jehová, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios semejante a ti en el cielo ni en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y tienes misericordia con tus siervos que caminan delante de ti de todo su corazón;

15 w ho has kept with Your servant David, my father, that which You have promised him; indeed You have spoken with Your mouth and have fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

que has mantenido a tu siervo David, mi padre, la promesa que le hiciste; tú lo dijiste con tu boca, y con tu mano lo has cumplido, como se ve en este día.

16 N ow therefore, O Lord, the God of Israel, keep with Your servant David, my father, that which You have promised him, saying, ‘ You shall not lack a man to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your sons take heed to their way, to walk in My law as you have walked before Me.’

Ahora, pues, Jehová, Dios de Israel, cumple a tu siervo David, mi padre, lo que le has prometido, diciendo: “Nunca faltará en mi presencia uno de los tuyos, que se siente en el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos guarden su camino andando en mi Ley, como tú has andado delante de mí.”

17 N ow therefore, O Lord, the God of Israel, let Your word be confirmed which You have spoken to Your servant David.

Ahora, pues, Jehová, Dios de Israel, cúmplase la promesa que hiciste a tu siervo David.

18 “ But will God indeed dwell with mankind on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You; how much less this house which I have built.

»Pero, ¿es verdad que Dios habitará con el hombre en la tierra? Si los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no te pueden contener, ¿cuánto menos esta Casa que he edificado?

19 Y et have regard to the prayer of Your servant and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which Your servant prays before You;

Pero tú mirarás a la oración de tu siervo, y a su ruego, Jehová, Dios mío, para oír el clamor y la oración con que tu siervo ora delante de ti.

20 t hat Your eye may be open toward this house day and night, toward the place of which You have said that You would put Your name there, to listen to the prayer which Your servant shall pray toward this place.

Que tus ojos estén abiertos sobre esta Casa de día y de noche, sobre el lugar del cual dijiste: “Mi nombre estará allí.” Escucha la oración con que tu siervo ora en este lugar.

21 L isten to the supplications of Your servant and of Your people Israel when they pray toward this place; hear from Your dwelling place, from heaven; hear and forgive.

Asimismo escucha el ruego de tu siervo y de tu pueblo Israel, cuando en este lugar hagan oración. Escucha desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada; escucha y perdona.

22 “ If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath, and he comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this house,

»Cuando alguno peque contra su prójimo, y se le exige juramento, si viene a jurar ante tu altar en esta Casa,

23 t hen hear from heaven and act and judge Your servants, punishing the wicked by bringing his way on his own head and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness.

tú oirás desde los cielos, actuarás y juzgarás a tus siervos, dando la paga al impío, haciendo recaer su proceder sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo, al darle conforme a su justicia.

24 “ If Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they return to You and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication before You in this house,

»Cuando tu pueblo Israel sea derrotado delante del enemigo por haber pecado contra ti, si se convierte y confiesa tu nombre, si ruega delante de ti en esta Casa,

25 t hen hear from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You have given to them and to their fathers.

tú oirás desde los cielos, perdonarás el pecado de tu pueblo Israel y les harás volver a la tierra que les diste a ellos y a sus padres.

26 “ When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin when You afflict them;

»Cuando los cielos se cierren y no haya lluvias, por haber pecado contra ti, si oran a ti en este lugar y confiesan tu nombre, si se convierten de sus pecados cuando los aflijas,

27 t hen hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants and Your people Israel, indeed, teach them the good way in which they should walk. And send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people for an inheritance.

tú los oirás en los cielos y perdonarás el pecado de tus siervos y de tu pueblo Israel, les enseñarás el buen camino para que anden en él y enviarás lluvia sobre tu tierra, la que diste por heredad a tu pueblo.

28 “ If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, if there is locust or grasshopper, if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities, whatever plague or whatever sickness there is,

»Cuando haya hambre en la tierra, o pestilencia, o las plantas se sequen por el calor, o sean atacadas por hongos, las langostas o el pulgón; cuando los sitien sus enemigos en la tierra donde habiten; cualquier plaga o enfermedad que sea;

29 w hatever prayer or supplication is made by any man or by all Your people Israel, each knowing his own affliction and his own pain, and spreading his hands toward this house,

toda oración y todo ruego que haga cualquier hombre, o todo tu pueblo Israel, cualquiera que conozca su llaga y su dolor en su corazón, si extiende sus manos hacia esta Casa,

30 t hen hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and render to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men,

tú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada; perdonarás y darás a cada uno conforme a sus caminos, habiendo conocido su corazón; porque sólo tú conoces el corazón de los hijos de los hombres;

31 t hat they may fear You, to walk in Your ways as long as they live in the land which You have given to our fathers.

para que te teman y anden en tus caminos, todos los días que vivan sobre la faz de la tierra que tú diste a nuestros padres.

32 “ Also concerning the foreigner who is not from Your people Israel, when he comes from a far country for Your great name’s sake and Your mighty hand and Your outstretched arm, when they come and pray toward this house,

»También al extranjero que no sea de tu pueblo Israel, que haya venido de lejanas tierras a causa de tu gran nombre y de tu mano poderosa, y de tu brazo extendido, si viene y ora hacia esta Casa,

33 t hen hear from heaven, from Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know Your name, and fear You as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by Your name.

tú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, y harás conforme a todas las cosas por las cuales haya clamado a ti el extranjero; para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu nombre, te teman como tu pueblo Israel, y sepan que tu nombre es invocado sobre esta Casa que yo he edificado.

34 “ When Your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way You shall send them, and they pray to You toward this city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name,

»Cuando tu pueblo salga a la guerra contra sus enemigos por el camino que tú le envíes, y ora a ti hacia esta ciudad que tú elegiste, hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu nombre,

35 t hen hear from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

tú oirás desde los cielos su oración y su ruego, y ampararás su causa.

36 “ When they sin against You ( for there is no man who does not sin) and You are angry with them and deliver them to an enemy, so that they take them away captive to a land far off or near,

»Cuando pequen contra ti (pues no hay hombre que no peque), y te enojes contra ellos, y los entregues a sus enemigos, para que sus conquistadores los lleven cautivos a otras tierras, lejos o cerca,

37 i f they take thought in the land where they are taken captive, and repent and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have committed iniquity and have acted wickedly’;

si ellos vuelven en sí en la tierra adonde los hayan llevado cautivos; si se convierten y oran a ti en la tierra de su cautividad, y dicen: “Pecamos, somos culpables, impíamente hemos actuado”;

38 i f they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been taken captive, and pray toward their land which You have given to their fathers and the city which You have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for Your name,

si se convierten a ti de todo su corazón y de toda su alma en la tierra de su cautividad, donde los hayan llevado cautivos, y oran hacia la tierra que tú diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste, y hacia la Casa que he edificado a tu nombre;

39 t hen hear from heaven, from Your dwelling place, their prayer and supplications, and maintain their cause and forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

tú oirás desde los cielos, desde el lugar de tu morada, su oración y su ruego, ampararás su causa y perdonarás a tu pueblo que pecó contra ti.

40 “ Now, O my God, I pray, let Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

»Ahora, pues, Dios mío, te ruego que estén abiertos tus ojos y atentos tus oídos a la oración en este lugar.

41 “ Now therefore arise, O Lord God, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your might; let Your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation and let Your godly ones rejoice in what is good.

»Jehová Dios, levántate ahora para habitar en tu reposo, tú y el Arca de tu poder; Jehová Dios, sean vestidos de salvación tus sacerdotes, y tus santos se regocijen en tu bondad.

42 “ O Lord God, do not turn away the face of Your anointed; remember Your lovingkindness to Your servant David.”

Jehová Dios, no rechaces a tu ungido; acuérdate de tus misericordias para con tu siervo David.»
