Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed,

2 Q ue a nadie difamen, que no sean amigos de contiendas, sino amables, mostrando toda mansedumbre para con toda la humanidad.

to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.

3 N osotros también éramos en otro tiempo insensatos, rebeldes, extraviados, esclavos de placeres y deleites diversos, viviendo en malicia y envidia, odiados y odiándonos unos a otros.

For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

4 P ero cuando se manifestó la bondad de Dios, nuestro Salvador, y su amor para con la humanidad,

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,

5 n os salvó, no por obras de justicia que nosotros hubiéramos hecho, sino por su misericordia, por el lavamiento de la regeneración y por la renovación en el Espíritu Santo,

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

6 e l cual derramó en nosotros abundantemente por Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador,

whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

7 p ara que, justificados por su gracia, llegáramos a ser herederos conforme a la esperanza de la vida eterna.

so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

8 P alabra fiel es ésta, y en estas cosas quiero que insistas con firmeza, para que los que creen en Dios procuren ocuparse en buenas obras. Estas cosas son buenas y útiles a los hombres.

This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.

9 P ero evita las cuestiones necias, como genealogías, contiendas y discusiones acerca de la Ley, porque son vanas y sin provecho.

But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.

10 A l que cause divisiones, después de una y otra amonestación deséchalo,

Reject a factious man after a first and second warning,

11 s abiendo que el tal se ha pervertido, y que peca y está condenado por su propio juicio. Instrucciones personales

knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned. Personal Concerns

12 C uando te envíe a Artemas o a Tíquico, apresúrate a venir a mí a Nicópolis, porque allí he determinado pasar el invierno.

When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.

13 A Zenas, intérprete de la Ley, y a Apolos, encamínalos con solicitud, de modo que nada les falte.

Diligently help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way so that nothing is lacking for them.

14 Y aprendan también los nuestros a ocuparse en buenas obras para los casos de necesidad, para que no se queden sin dar fruto. Salutaciones y bendición final

Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.

15 T odos los que están conmigo te saludan. Saluda a los que nos aman en la fe. La gracia sea con todos vosotros. Amén.
