1 » Cuando alguien robe un buey o una oveja, y los degüelle o los venda, por el buey pagará cinco bueyes, y por la oveja, cuatro ovejas.
“ If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for the ox and four sheep for the sheep.
2 » Si el ladrón, sorprendido forzando una casa, es herido y muere, el que lo hirió no será culpado de su muerte.
“ If the thief is caught while breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no bloodguiltiness on his account.
3 P ero si es de día, el autor de la muerte será reo de homicidio. »El ladrón hará completa restitución; si no tiene con qué, será vendido para pagar lo robado.
But if the sun has risen on him, there will be bloodguiltiness on his account. He shall surely make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4 » Si lo robado, sea buey, asno u oveja, es hallado vivo en sus manos, pagará el doble.
If what he stole is actually found alive in his possession, whether an ox or a donkey or a sheep, he shall pay double.
5 » Si alguien hace pastar en un campo o una viña, y mete su bestia en campo de otro, de lo mejor de su campo y de lo mejor de su viña pagará.
“If a man lets a field or vineyard be grazed bare and lets his animal loose so that it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field and the best of his own vineyard.
6 » Cuando se prenda fuego, y al quemar espinos se quema también mieses amontonadas o en pie, o un campo, el que encendió el fuego pagará lo quemado.
“If a fire breaks out and spreads to thorn bushes, so that stacked grain or the standing grain or the field itself is consumed, he who started the fire shall surely make restitution.
7 » Cuando alguien dé a su prójimo plata o alhajas a guardar, y las roben de la casa de aquel hombre, si el ladrón es hallado, pagará el doble.
“ If a man gives his neighbor money or goods to keep for him and it is stolen from the man’s house, if the thief is caught, he shall pay double.
8 S i el ladrón no es hallado, entonces el dueño de la casa será presentado a los jueces, para que se vea si ha metido su mano en los bienes de su prójimo.
If the thief is not caught, then the owner of the house shall appear before the judges, to determine whether he laid his hands on his neighbor’s property.
9 » En toda clase de fraude, ya se trate de buey, asno, oveja, vestido o cualquier cosa perdida, cuando alguien diga: “Esto es mío”, la causa de ambos vendrá ante los jueces; y aquel a quien los jueces condenen, pagará el doble a su prójimo.
For every breach of trust, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any lost thing about which one says, ‘This is it,’ the case of both parties shall come before the judges; he whom the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor.
10 » Si alguien da a guardar a su prójimo un asno, un buey, una oveja o cualquier otro animal, y éste muere, es estropeado o robado sin que nadie lo vea,
“If a man gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep for him, and it dies or is hurt or is driven away while no one is looking,
11 j uramento de Jehová mediará entre ambos de que no metió sus manos en los bienes de su prójimo: su dueño lo aceptará, y el otro no pagará.
an oath before the Lord shall be made by the two of them that he has not laid hands on his neighbor’s property; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.
12 P ero si le fue robado, resarcirá a su dueño.
But if it is actually stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner.
13 Y si le fue arrebatado por una fiera, le traerá testimonio y no pagará lo arrebatado.
If it is all torn to pieces, let him bring it as evidence; he shall not make restitution for what has been torn to pieces.
14 » Pero si alguien toma prestada una bestia de su prójimo, y es estropeada o muerta estando ausente su dueño, deberá pagarla.
“If a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not with it, he shall make full restitution.
15 S i el dueño estaba presente, no la pagará. Si era alquilada, reciba el dueño el alquiler. Leyes humanitarias
If its owner is with it, he shall not make restitution; if it is hired, it came for its hire. Sundry Laws
16 » Si alguien engaña a una joven que no ha sido desposada y duerme con ella, deberá dotarla y tomarla por mujer.
“ If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged, and lies with her, he must pay a dowry for her to be his wife.
17 S i su padre no quiere dársela, él le pagará conforme a la dote de las vírgenes.
If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the dowry for virgins.
18 » A la hechicera no la dejarás con vida.
“You shall not allow a sorceress to live.
19 » Cualquiera que cohabite con una bestia, morirá.
“ Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.
20 » El que ofrezca sacrificio a otros dioses en vez de ofrecérselo solamente a Jehová, será muerto.
“ He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the Lord alone, shall be utterly destroyed.
21 » Al extranjero no engañarás ni angustiarás, porque extranjeros fuisteis vosotros en la tierra de Egipto.
“ You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22 » A ninguna viuda ni huérfano afligiréis,
You shall not afflict any widow or orphan.
23 p orque si tú llegas a afligirlos, y ellos claman a mí, ciertamente oiré yo su clamor,
If you afflict him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will surely hear his cry;
24 m i furor se encenderá y os mataré a espada; vuestras mujeres serán viudas, y huérfanos vuestros hijos.
and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
25 » Cuando prestes dinero a uno de mi pueblo, al pobre que está contigo, no te portarás con él como usurero ni le cobrarás intereses.
“ If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest.
26 S i tomas en prenda el vestido de tu prójimo, a la puesta del sol se lo devolverás,
If you ever take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, you are to return it to him before the sun sets,
27 p orque sólo eso es su abrigo, el vestido para cubrir su cuerpo. ¿Con qué dormirá? Y cuando él clame a mí, yo le oiré, porque soy misericordioso.
for that is his only covering; it is his cloak for his body. What else shall he sleep in? And it shall come about that when he cries out to Me, I will hear him, for I am gracious.
28 » No ofenderás a los jueces ni maldecirás al príncipe de tu pueblo.
“You shall not curse God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
29 » No demorarás en traerme la primicia de tu cosecha ni de tu lagar. »Me darás el primogénito de tus hijos.
“ You shall not delay the offering from your harvest and your vintage. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to Me.
30 L o mismo harás con el de tu buey y el de tu oveja; siete días estará con su madre, y al octavo día me lo darás.
You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me.
31 » Me seréis hombres santos. »No comeréis carne destrozada por las fieras en el campo; a los perros la echaréis.
“ You shall be holy men to Me, therefore you shall not eat any flesh torn to pieces in the field; you shall throw it to the dogs.
