2 L os tesoros de maldad no serán de provecho, mas la justicia libra de la muerte.

Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death.

3 J ehová no dejará que el justo padezca hambre, mas rechazará la codicia de los malvados.

The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will reject the craving of the wicked.

4 L a mano negligente empobrece, pero la mano de los diligentes enriquece.

Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

5 E l que recoge en verano es hombre sensato, pero el que duerme en tiempo de siega, avergüenza.

He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, But he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully.

6 H ay bendiciones sobre la cabeza del justo, pero la boca de los malvados oculta violencia.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

7 L a memoria del justo es bendecida, mas el nombre de los malvados se pudrirá.

The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot.

8 E l de corazón sabio recibe los mandamientos, mas el de labios necios va a su ruina.

The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will be ruined.

9 E l que camina en integridad anda confiado, pero el que pervierte sus caminos sufrirá quebranto.

He who walks in integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will be found out.

10 E l que guiña el ojo acarrea tristeza; el de labios necios será derribado.

He who winks the eye causes trouble, And a babbling fool will be ruined.

11 M anantial de vida es la boca del justo, pero la boca de los malvados oculta violencia.

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

12 E l odio despierta rencillas, pero el amor cubre todas las faltas.

Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions.

13 E n los labios del prudente hay sabiduría, mas la vara es para las espaldas del insensato.

On the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found, But a rod is for the back of him who lacks understanding.

14 L os sabios atesoran sabiduría, mas la boca del necio es una calamidad cercana.

Wise men store up knowledge, But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.

15 L as riquezas del rico son su ciudad fortificada; la debilidad de los pobres es su pobreza.

The rich man’s wealth is his fortress, The ruin of the poor is their poverty.

16 L a obra del justo es para vida; el fruto del malvado es para pecado.

The wages of the righteous is life, The income of the wicked, punishment.

17 G uardar la instrucción es camino que lleva a la vida; el que rechaza la reprensión, yerra.

He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray.

18 E l de labios mentirosos encubre el odio; el que propaga la calumnia es un necio.

He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool.

19 E n las muchas palabras no falta pecado; el que refrena sus labios es prudente.

When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

20 P lata pura es la lengua del justo, mas es nada el corazón de los malvados.

The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver, The heart of the wicked is worth little.

21 L os labios del justo sustentan a muchos, pero los necios mueren por falta de entendimiento.

The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of understanding.

22 L a bendición de Jehová es la que enriquece, y no añade tristeza con ella.

It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it.

23 C ometer maldad es una diversión para el insensato, mas la sabiduría recrea al hombre inteligente.

Doing wickedness is like sport to a fool, And so is wisdom to a man of understanding.

24 L o que el malvado teme, eso le sobrevendrá, pero los justos recibirán lo que desean.

What the wicked fears will come upon him, But the desire of the righteous will be granted.

25 C omo pasa el torbellino, así el malo no permanece, mas el justo permanece para siempre.

When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

26 C omo el vinagre para los dientes y el humo para los ojos, así es el perezoso para quienes lo envían.

Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him.

27 E l temor de Jehová aumenta los días, mas los años de los malvados serán acortados.

The fear of the Lord prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.

28 L a esperanza de los justos es alegría, mas la esperanza de los malvados perecerá.

The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes.

29 E l camino de Jehová es fortaleza para el perfecto, pero destrucción para los que cometen maldad.

The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity.

30 E l justo jamás será removido, pero los malvados no habitarán la tierra.

The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land.

31 D e la boca del justo brota la sabiduría, mas la lengua perversa será cortada.

The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, But the perverted tongue will be cut out.

32 L os labios del justo saben decir lo que agrada, mas la boca de los malvados habla perversidades.

The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted.
