1 B e ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Sean, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados;

2 a nd walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

y anden en amor, así como también Cristo les amó y se dio a sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios, como fragante aroma.

3 B ut fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Pero que la inmoralidad, y toda impureza o avaricia, ni siquiera se mencionen entre ustedes, como corresponde a los santos.

4 n either filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Tampoco haya obscenidades, ni necedades, ni groserías, que no son apropiadas, sino más bien acciones de gracias.

5 F or this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Porque con certeza ustedes saben esto: que ningún inmoral, impuro, o avaro, que es idólatra, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.

6 L et no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Que nadie los engañe con palabras vanas, pues por causa de estas cosas la ira de Dios viene sobre los hijos de desobediencia.

7 B e not ye therefore partakers with them.

Por tanto, no sean partícipes con ellos;

8 F or ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

porque antes ustedes eran tinieblas, pero ahora son luz en el Señor; anden como hijos de luz.

9 ( for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Porque el fruto de la luz consiste en toda bondad, justicia y verdad.

10 p roving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Examinen qué es lo que agrada al Señor,

11 A nd have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

y no participen en las obras estériles de las tinieblas, sino más bien, desenmascárenlas (repróchenlas).

12 F or it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

Porque es vergonzoso aun hablar de las cosas que ellos hacen en secreto.

13 B ut all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Pero todas las cosas se hacen visibles cuando son expuestas por la luz, pues todo lo que se hace visible es luz.

14 W herefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Por esta razón dice: “Despierta, tú que duermes, Y levántate de entre los muertos, Y te alumbrará Cristo.”

15 S ee then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Por tanto, tengan cuidado cómo andan; no como insensatos sino como sabios,

16 r edeeming the time, because the days are evil.

aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

17 W herefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Así pues, no sean necios, sino entiendan cuál es la voluntad del Señor.

18 A nd be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Y no se embriaguen con vino, en lo cual hay disolución, sino sean llenos del Espíritu.

19 s peaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Hablen entre ustedes con salmos, himnos y cantos espirituales, cantando y alabando con su corazón al Señor.

20 g iving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Den siempre gracias por todo, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a Dios, el Padre.

21 s ubmitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Sométanse unos a otros en el temor (la reverencia) de Cristo. Cristo y la Iglesia, un Modelo para el Hogar

22 W ives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Las mujeres estén sometidas a sus propios maridos como al Señor.

23 F or the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, siendo El mismo el Salvador del cuerpo.

24 T herefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Pero así como la iglesia está sujeta a Cristo, también las mujeres deben estarlo a sus maridos en todo.

25 H usbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Maridos, amen a sus mujeres, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia y se dio El mismo por ella,

26 t hat he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

para santificarla, habiéndola purificado por el lavamiento del agua con la palabra,

27 t hat he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

a fin de presentársela a sí mismo, una iglesia en toda su gloria, sin que tenga mancha ni arruga ni cosa semejante, sino que fuera santa e inmaculada.

28 S o ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Así deben también los maridos amar a sus mujeres, como a sus propios cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama.

29 F or no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Porque nadie aborreció jamás su propio cuerpo, sino que lo sustenta y lo cuida, así como también Cristo a la iglesia;

30 f or we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

porque somos miembros de Su cuerpo.

31 F or this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Por esto el hombre dejara a su padre y a su madre, y se unira a su mujer, y los dos seran una sola carne.

32 T his is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Grande es este misterio, pero hablo con referencia a Cristo y a la iglesia.

33 N evertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

En todo caso, cada uno de ustedes ame también a su mujer como a sí mismo, y que la mujer respete a su marido.
