1 A m I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

¿No soy libre ? ¿No soy apóstol ? ¿No he visto a Jesús nuestro Señor ? ¿No son ustedes mi obra en el Señor ?

2 I f I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

Si para otros no soy apóstol, por lo menos para ustedes sí lo soy; pues ustedes son el sello de mi apostolado en el Señor.

3 M ine answer to them that do examine me is this,

Mi defensa contra los que me examinan es ésta:

4 H ave we not power to eat and to drink?

¿Acaso no tenemos derecho a comer y beber ?

5 H ave we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

¿No tenemos derecho a llevar con nosotros una esposa creyente, así como los demás apóstoles y los hermanos del Señor y Cefas (Pedro) ?

6 O r I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

¿O acaso sólo Bernabé y yo no tenemos el derecho a no trabajar?

7 W ho goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

¿Quién ha servido alguna vez como soldado a sus propias expensas? ¿Quién planta una viña y no come de su fruto ? ¿O quién cuida un rebaño y no bebe de la leche del rebaño?

8 S ay I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

¿Acaso digo esto según el juicio humano ? ¿No dice también la Ley esto mismo?

9 F or it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

Pues en la Ley de Moisés está escrito: “ No pondras bozal al buey cuando trilla.” ¿Acaso le preocupan a Dios los bueyes ?

10 O r saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

¿O lo dice especialmente por nosotros? Sí, se escribió por nosotros, porque el que ara debe arar con esperanza, y el que trilla debe trillar con la esperanza de recibir de la cosecha.

11 I f we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

Si en ustedes sembramos lo espiritual, ¿será demasiado que de ustedes cosechemos lo material ?

12 I f others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

Si otros tienen este derecho sobre ustedes, ¿no lo tenemos aún más nosotros? Sin embargo, no hemos usado este derecho, sino que sufrimos todo para no causar estorbo al evangelio de Cristo.

13 D o ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

¿No saben que los que desempeñan los servicios sagrados comen la comida del templo, y los que regularmente sirven al altar, del altar reciben su parte ?

14 E ven so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

Así también ordenó el Señor que los que proclaman el evangelio, vivan del evangelio.

15 B ut I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

Pero yo de nada de esto me he aprovechado. Y no escribo esto para que así se haga conmigo. Porque mejor me fuera morir, que permitir que alguien me prive de esta gloria.

16 F or though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

Porque si predico el evangelio (anuncio las buenas nuevas), no tengo nada de qué gloriarme, pues estoy bajo el deber de hacerlo. Pues ¡ay de mí si no predico el evangelio!

17 F or if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

Porque si hago esto voluntariamente, tengo recompensa; pero si lo hago en contra de mi voluntad, un encargo (una mayordomía) se me ha confiado.

18 W hat is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

¿Cuál es, entonces, mi recompensa ? Que al predicar el evangelio (anunciar las buenas nuevas), pueda ofrecerlo gratuitamente sin hacer pleno uso de mi derecho como predicador del evangelio. Celo Evangelizador de Pablo

19 F or though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

Porque aunque soy libre de todos, de todos me he hecho esclavo para ganar al mayor número posible.

20 A nd unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

A los Judíos me hice como Judío, para poder ganar a los Judíos. A los que están bajo la Ley, como bajo la Ley, aunque yo no estoy bajo la Ley, para poder ganar a los que están bajo la Ley.

21 t o them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

A los que están sin ley, como sin ley, aunque no estoy sin la ley de Dios, sino bajo la ley de Cristo, para poder ganar a los que están sin ley.

22 T o the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

A los débiles me hice débil, para ganar a los débiles. A todos me he hecho todo, para que por todos los medios salve a algunos.

23 A nd this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Y todo lo hago por amor del evangelio, para ser partícipe de él. Disciplina Personal de Pablo

24 K now ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

¿No saben que los que corren en el estadio, todos en verdad corren, pero sólo uno obtiene el premio ? Corran de tal modo que ganen.

25 A nd every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

Y todo el que compite en los juegos se abstiene de todo. Ellos lo hacen para recibir una corona corruptible, pero nosotros, una incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

Por tanto, yo de esta manera corro, no como sin tener meta; de esta manera peleo, no como dando golpes al aire,

27 b ut I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

sino que golpeo mi cuerpo y lo hago mi esclavo, no sea que habiendo predicado a otros, yo mismo sea descalificado.
