1 T hen all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

Entonces se congregó todo Israel alrededor de David en Hebrón, y le dijeron: “Mire, somos hueso suyo y carne suya.

2 A nd moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.

Ya de antes, cuando Saúl aún era rey, usted era el que sacaba a Israel y el que lo volvía a traer. Y el Señor su Dios le dijo: ‘Tú pastorearás a Mi pueblo Israel, y serás príncipe sobre Mi pueblo Israel.’”

3 T herefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.

Vinieron, pues, todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo un pacto con ellos en Hebrón delante del Señor; luego ungieron a David como rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del Señor por medio de Samuel.

4 A nd David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.

Entonces David fue con todo Israel a Jerusalén, es decir, Jebús, y allí estaban los Jebuseos, habitantes de la tierra.

5 A nd the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.

Los habitantes de Jebús dijeron a David: “Usted no entrará aquí.” Pero David capturó la fortaleza de Sion, es decir, la ciudad de David.

6 A nd David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.

Y David había dicho: “El que primero hiera a un Jebuseo será jefe y comandante.” Y Joab, hijo de Sarvia, subió primero, y fue hecho jefe.

7 A nd David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.

David habitó en la fortaleza; por tanto fue llamada la ciudad de David.

8 A nd he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

Y edificó la ciudad alrededor, desde el Milo (la ciudadela) hasta la muralla que la rodeaba; y Joab reparó el resto de la ciudad.

9 S o David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.

David se engrandecía cada vez más, y el Señor de los ejércitos estaba con él. Los Valientes de David

10 T hese also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

Estos son los jefes de los valientes que tenía David, quienes le dieron fuerte apoyo en su reino, junto con todo Israel, para hacerlo rey, conforme a la palabra del Señor concerniente a Israel.

11 A nd this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.

Y éstos constituyen la lista de los valientes que tenía David: Jasobeam, hijo de Hacmoni, jefe de los treinta; él blandió su lanza contra 300 a los cuales mató de una sola vez.

12 A nd after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.

Después de él, Eleazar, hijo de Dodo el Ahohíta; él era uno de los tres valientes.

13 H e was with David at Pas-dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

El estaba con David en Pasdamim cuando los Filisteos se reunieron allí para la batalla; y había una parcela llena de cebada, y el pueblo huyó delante de los Filisteos,

14 A nd they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.

15 N ow three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

Tres de los treinta jefes descendieron a la roca donde estaba David, en la cueva de Adulam, mientras el ejército de los Filisteos acampaba en el Valle de Refaim.

16 A nd David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Beth-lehem.

David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, mientras la guarnición de los Filisteos estaba en Belén (Casa del Pan).

17 A nd David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, that is at the gate!

18 A nd the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord,

Entonces los tres se abrieron paso por el campamento de los Filisteos, y sacando agua del pozo de Belén que estaba junto a la puerta, se la llevaron y la trajeron a David; pero David no quiso beberla, sino que la derramó para el Señor,

19 a nd said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

y dijo: “Lejos esté de mí que haga tal cosa delante de mi Dios. ¿Beberé la sangre de estos hombres que fueron con riesgo de sus vidas? Porque con riesgo de sus vidas la trajeron.” Por eso no quiso beberla. Estas cosas hicieron los tres valientes.

20 A nd Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.

Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, era el primero de los treinta, y blandió su lanza contra 300 y los mató; y él tuvo tanto renombre como los tres.

21 O f the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.

De los treinta en el segundo grupo, él fue el más distinguido y llegó a ser capitán de ellos; pero no igualó a los tres primeros.

22 B enaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.

Benaía, hijo de Joiada, hijo de un valiente de Cabseel, de grandes hazañas, mató a los dos hijos de Ariel de Moab. Y él descendió y mató a un león en medio de un foso un día que estaba nevando.

23 A nd he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.

También mató a un Egipcio, un hombre grande de 2. 25 metros de estatura; y en la mano del Egipcio había una lanza como un rodillo de tejedor, pero Benaía descendió a él con un palo, y arrebatando la lanza de la mano del Egipcio, lo mató con su propia lanza.

24 T hese things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.

Estas cosas hizo Benaía, hijo de Joiada, y tuvo tanto renombre como los tres valientes.

25 B ehold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.

El fue el más distinguido entre los treinta, pero no igualó a los tres; y David lo puso sobre su guardia.

26 A lso the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,
