1 N ow the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Pero el Espíritu dice claramente que, en los últimos tiempos, algunos apostatarán de la fe, escuchando a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas de demonios,

2 s peaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

de hipócritas y mentirosos, cuya conciencia está cauterizada.

3 f orbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Estos prohibirán casarse y mandarán abstenerse de alimentos que Dios creó para que con acción de gracias participaran de ellos los creyentes y los que han conocido la verdad,

4 F or every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

porque todo lo que Dios creó es bueno y nada es de desecharse, si se toma con acción de gracias,

5 f or it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

ya que por la palabra de Dios y por la oración es santificado. Un buen ministro de Jesucristo

6 I f thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

Si esto enseñas a los hermanos, serás buen ministro de Jesucristo, nutrido con las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina que has seguido.

7 B ut refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

Desecha las fábulas profanas y de viejas. Ejercítate para la piedad,

8 F or bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

porque el ejercicio corporal para poco es provechoso, pero la piedad para todo aprovecha, pues tiene promesa de esta vida presente y de la venidera.

9 T his is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

Palabra fiel es ésta y digna de ser recibida por todos:

10 F or therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

que por esto mismo trabajamos y sufrimos oprobios, porque esperamos en el Dios viviente, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, mayormente de los que creen.

11 T hese things command and teach.

Esto manda y enseña.

12 L et no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Ninguno tenga en poco tu juventud, sino sé ejemplo de los creyentes en palabra, conducta, amor, espíritu, fe y pureza.

13 T ill I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Entre tanto que voy, ocúpate en la lectura, la exhortación y la enseñanza.

14 N eglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

No descuides el don que hay en ti, que te fue dado mediante profecía con la imposición de las manos del presbiterio.

15 M editate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

Ocúpate en estas cosas; permanece en ellas, para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto a todos.

16 T ake heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Ten cuidado de ti mismo y de la doctrina; persiste en ello, pues haciendo esto te salvarás a ti mismo y a los que te escuchen.
