1 I n the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

En el año diecisiete de Peka hijo de Remalías comenzó a reinar Acaz hijo de Jotam, rey de Judá.

2 T wenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.

Cuando comenzó a reinar Acaz tenía veinte años, y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años, pero no hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, su Dios, como su padre David,

3 B ut he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.

sino que anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y aun hizo pasar por fuego a su hijo, según las prácticas abominables de las naciones que Jehová echó de delante de los hijos de Israel.

4 A nd he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, sobre los collados y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 T hen Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

Entonces Rezín, rey de Siria, y Peka hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron a Jerusalén para atacarla y sitiar a Acaz, pero no pudieron tomarla.

6 A t that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.

En aquel tiempo el rey de Edom recobró Elat para Edom, y echó de Elat a los hombres de Judá. Los de Edom llegaron a Elat y habitaron allí hasta hoy.

7 S o Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

Entonces Acaz envió embajadores a Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria, diciendo: «Yo soy tu siervo y tu hijo. Sube y defiéndeme de manos del rey de Siria y de manos del rey de Israel, que se han levantado contra mí.»

8 A nd Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

Acaz tomó la plata y el oro que había en la casa de Jehová y en los tesoros de la casa real, y envió al rey de Asiria un presente.

9 A nd the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

El rey de Asiria atendió su petición, pues subió contra Damasco y la tomó, se llevó cautivos sus habitantes a Kir y mató a Rezín.

10 A nd king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

Después fue el rey Acaz a encontrarse en Damasco con Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria. Cuando el rey Acaz vio el altar que estaba en Damasco, envió al sacerdote Urías el diseño y la descripción del altar, conforme a todos los detalles.

11 A nd Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

Y el sacerdote Urías edificó el altar, de acuerdo con todo lo que el rey Acaz le había enviado de Damasco. Así lo hizo el sacerdote Urías, antes que el rey Acaz regresara de Damasco.

12 A nd when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.

Cuando el rey llegó de Damasco y vio el altar, se acercó y ofreció sacrificios en él;

13 A nd he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.

encendió su holocausto y su ofrenda, derramó sus libaciones y esparció la sangre de sus sacrificios de paz junto al altar.

14 A nd he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the Lord, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of the altar.

Trasladó el altar de bronce que estaba delante de Jehová, en la parte delantera de la Casa, entre el altar y el templo de Jehová, y lo puso al lado norte del altar.

15 A nd king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

Después mandó el rey Acaz al sacerdote Urías: «En el gran altar encenderás el holocausto de la mañana y la ofrenda de la tarde, el holocausto del rey y su ofrenda, asimismo el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra, su ofrenda y sus libaciones; esparcirás sobre él toda la sangre del holocausto y toda la sangre del sacrificio. El altar de bronce será mío para consultar en él.»

16 T hus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

El sacerdote Urías hizo conforme a todas las cosas que el rey Acaz le mandó.

17 A nd king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.

Luego el rey Acaz cortó los tableros de las basas y les quitó las fuentes; quitó también el mar de sobre los bueyes de bronce que estaban debajo de él y lo puso sobre el suelo de piedra.

18 A nd the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry without, turned he from the house of the Lord for the king of Assyria.

Por causa del rey de Asiria quitó del templo de Jehová el pórtico para el sábado que habían edificado en la Casa y el pasadizo de afuera, el del rey.

19 N ow the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos que puso por obra Acaz, ¿no están todos escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

20 A nd Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

El rey Acaz durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Ezequías.
