1 A nd when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

Cuando vio Balaam que le parecía bien a Jehová que él bendijera a Israel, no fue, como la primera y la segunda vez, en busca de agüero, sino que puso su rostro hacia el desierto.

2 A nd Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

Al alzar sus ojos, vio a Israel acampado por tribus, y el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.

3 A nd he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

Entonces pronunció esta profecía: «Dice Balaam hijo de Beor, dice el varón de ojos abiertos,

4 h e hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

dice el que oyó los dichos de Dios, el que vio la visión del Omnipotente; caído, pero abiertos los ojos:

5 h ow goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

¡Cuán hermosas son tus tiendas, Jacob, y tus habitaciones, Israel!

6 A s the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

Como arroyos están extendidas, como huertos junto al río, como áloes plantados por Jehová, como cedros junto a las aguas.

7 H e shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

De sus manos destilan aguas, y su descendencia tiene agua en abundancia. Su rey es más grande que Agag, y su reino es engrandecido.

8 G od brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

Dios, que lo sacó de Egipto, tiene fuerzas como de búfalo. Devora a las naciones enemigas, desmenuza sus huesos y las traspasa con sus flechas.

9 H e couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

Se agazapa y se echa como un león, como una leona. ¿Quién lo despertará? ¡Benditos sean los que te bendigan y malditos los que te maldigan!» La profecía de Balaam

10 A nd Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

Entonces se encendió la ira de Balac contra Balaam, y batiendo las manos le dijo: —Para maldecir a mis enemigos te he llamado, pero tú los has bendecido ya tres veces.

11 T herefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.

Ahora huye a tu lugar; yo dije que te honraría, pero Jehová te ha privado de honra.

12 A nd Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

Balaam le respondió: —¿No lo declaré yo también a los mensajeros que me enviaste, diciendo:

13 I f Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?

“Aunque Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y oro, yo no podré traspasar el dicho de Jehová para hacer cosa buena ni mala de mi arbitrio, pero lo que hable Jehová, eso diré yo”?

14 A nd now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

Yo me voy ahora a mi pueblo; por tanto, ven, te indicaré lo que este pueblo ha de hacer a tu pueblo en los últimos días.

15 A nd he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

Entonces pronunció esta profecía: «Dice Balaam hijo de Beor, dice el varón de ojos abiertos;

16 h e hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

dice el que oyó los dichos de Jehová, el que sabe la ciencia del Altísimo, el que vio la visión del Omnipotente; caído, pero abiertos los ojos:

17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Lo veo, mas no ahora; lo contemplo, mas no de cerca: Saldrá estrella de Jacob, se levantará cetro de Israel, y herirá las sienes de Moab y destruirá a todos los hijos de Set.

18 A nd Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

Será tomada Edom, será también tomada Seir por sus enemigos, Israel realizará grandes prodigios.

19 O ut of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

De Jacob saldrá el vencedor y destruirá lo que quede de la ciudad.»

20 A nd when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.

Al ver a Amalec, pronunció esta profecía: «Amalec es la cabeza de las naciones, mas al fin perecerá para siempre.»

21 A nd he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.

Al ver al ceneo, pronunció esta profecía: «Fuerte es tu habitación; en la peña está tu nido.

22 N evertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.

Pero el ceneo será destruido, cuando Asiria te lleve cautivo.»

23 A nd he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!

Después pronunció esta profecía: «¡Ay!, ¿quién vivirá cuando haga Dios estas cosas?

24 A nd ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.

Vendrán naves de la costa de Quitim, afligirán a Asiria y afligirán también a Heber, mas él también perecerá para siempre.»

25 A nd Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

Entonces se levantó Balaam y se fue de regreso a su lugar, y también Balac se fue por su camino.
