1 И когда окончил Иисус наставления двенадцати ученикам Своим, перешел оттуда учить и проповедывать в городах их.

And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and preach in their cities.

2 И оанн же, услышав в темнице о делах Христовых, послал двоих из учеников своих

Now when John heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent by his disciples

3 с казать Ему: Ты ли Тот, Который должен придти, или ожидать нам другого?

and said unto him, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?

4 И сказал им Иисус в ответ: пойдите, скажите Иоанну, что слышите и видите:

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye hear and see:

5 с лепые прозревают и хромые ходят, прокаженные очищаются и глухие слышат, мертвые воскресают и нищие благовествуют;

the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings preached to them.

6 и блажен, кто не соблазнится о Мне.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.

7 К огда же они пошли, Иисус начал говорить народу об Иоанне: что смотреть ходили вы в пустыню? трость ли, ветром колеблемую?

And as these went their way, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind?

8 Ч то же смотреть ходили вы? человека ли, одетого в мягкие одежды? Носящие мягкие одежды находятся в чертогах царских.

But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft raiment are in king's houses.

9 Ч то же смотреть ходили вы? пророка? Да, говорю вам, и больше пророка.

But wherefore went ye out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

10 И бо он тот, о котором написано: се, Я посылаю Ангела Моего пред лицем Твоим, который приготовит путь Твой пред Тобою.

This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way before thee.

11 И стинно говорю вам: из рожденных женами не восставал больший Иоанна Крестителя; но меньший в Царстве Небесном больше его.

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not arisen a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

12 О т дней же Иоанна Крестителя доныне Царство Небесное силою берется, и употребляющие усилие восхищают его,

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and men of violence take it by force.

13 и бо все пророки и закон прорекли до Иоанна.

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14 И если хотите принять, он есть Илия, которому должно придти.

And if ye are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, that is to come.

15 К то имеет уши слышать, да слышит!

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

16 Н о кому уподоблю род сей? Он подобен детям, которые сидят на улице и, обращаясь к своим товарищам,

But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the marketplaces, who call unto their fellows

17 г оворят: мы играли вам на свирели, и вы не плясали; мы пели вам печальные песни, и вы не рыдали.

and say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not mourn.

18 И бо пришел Иоанн, ни ест, ни пьет; и говорят: в нем бес.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a demon.

19 П ришел Сын Человеческий, ест и пьет; и говорят: вот человек, который любит есть и пить вино, друг мытарям и грешникам. И оправдана премудрость чадами ее.

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! And wisdom is justified by her works.

20 Т огда начал Он укорять города, в которых наиболее явлено было сил Его, за то, что они не покаялись:

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not.

21 г оре тебе, Хоразин! горе тебе, Вифсаида! ибо если бы в Тире и Сидоне явлены были силы, явленные в вас, то давно бы они во вретище и пепле покаялись,

Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22 н о говорю вам: Тиру и Сидону отраднее будет в день суда, нежели вам.

But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

23 И ты, Капернаум, до неба вознесшийся, до ада низвергнешься, ибо если бы в Содоме явлены были силы, явленные в тебе, то он оставался бы до сего дня;

And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day.

24 н о говорю вам, что земле Содомской отраднее будет в день суда, нежели тебе.

But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

25 В то время, продолжая речь, Иисус сказал: славлю Тебя, Отче, Господи неба и земли, что Ты утаил сие от мудрых и разумных и открыл то младенцам;

At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes:

26 е й, Отче! ибо таково было Твое благоволение.

yea, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.

27 В се предано Мне Отцем Моим, и никто не знает Сына, кроме Отца; и Отца не знает никто, кроме Сына, и кому Сын хочет открыть.

All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.

28 П ридите ко Мне все труждающиеся и обремененные, и Я успокою вас;

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 в озьмите иго Мое на себя и научитесь от Меня, ибо Я кроток и смирен сердцем, и найдете покой душам вашим;

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 и бо иго Мое благо, и бремя Мое легко.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
