1 ( O cîntare. Un psalm al fiilor lui Core.) Mare este Domnul şi lăudat de toţi, în cetatea Dumnezeului nostru, pe muntele Lui cel sfînt.

Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

2 F rumoasă înalţime, bucuria întregului pămînt, este muntele Sionului; în partea de miazănoapte este cetatea Marelui Împărat.

Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.

3 D umnezeu, în casele Lui împărăteşti, este cunoscut ca un turn de scăpare.

God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.

4 C ăci iată că împăraţii se adunaseră: doar au trecut împreună,

For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.

5 a u privit -o, au înlemnit, s'au temut, şi au luat -o la fugă.

They saw it, then were they amazed; They were dismayed, they hasted away.

6 I -a apucat un tremur acolo, ca durerea unei femei la facere.

Trembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail.

7 A u fost izgoniţi de parcă ar fi fost luaţi de vîntul de răsărit, care sfărîmă corăbiile din Tarsis.

With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

8 Î ntocmai cum auzisem spunîndu-se, aşa am văzut în cetatea Domnului oştirilor, în cetatea Dumnezeului nostru: Dumnezeu o va face să dăinuiască pe vecie. -

As we have heard, so have we seen In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah

9 D umnezeule, la bunătatea Ta ne gîndim, în mijlocul Templului Tău!

We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of thy temple.

10 C a şi Numele Tău, Dumnezeule, şi lauda Ta răsună pînă la marginile pămîntului; dreapta Ta este plină de îndurare.

As is thy name, O God, So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 S e bucură muntele Sionului, şi se veselesc fiicele lui Iuda de judecăţile Tale.

Let mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of thy judgments.

12 S trăbateţi Sionul, şi ocoliţi -l, număraţi -i turnurile,

Walk about Zion, and go round about her; Number the towers thereof;

13 p riviţi -i întăritura, şi cercetaţi -i palatele, ca să povestiţi celor ce vor veni după ei.

Mark ye well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces: That ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 I ată, Dumnezeul acesta este Dumnezeul nostru în veci de veci; El va fi călăuza noastră pînă la moarte.

For this God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death.
