1 P une trîmbiţa în gură! Vrăjmaşul vine ca un vultur peste Casa Domnului! Căci au călcat legămîntul Meu, şi au păcătuit împotriva Legii Mele.

Set the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle he cometh against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.

2 A tunci vor striga către Mine:,, Dumnezeule, noi Te cunoaştem, noi, Israel!`` -

They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee.

3 I srael a lepădat binele cu scîrbă; de aceea vrăjmaşul îi va urmări.

Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him.

4 A u pus împăraţi fără porunca Mea, şi căpetenii fără ştirea Mea; au făcut idoli din argintul şi aurul lor: deaceea vor fi nimiciţi.

They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

5 V iţelul tău este o scîrbă, Samario! Mînia Mea s'a aprins împotriva lor! Pînă cînd nu vor voi ei să se ţină curaţi?

He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

6 I dolul acesta vine din Israel, un lucrător l -a făcut, şi nu este Dumnezeu. Deaceea, viţelul Samariei va fi făcut bucăţi!

For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God; yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.

7 F iindcă au sămănat vînt, vor secera furtună. Nu le va creşte un spic de grîu; ce va răsări, nu va da făină, şi dacă ar da, ar mînca -o străinii.

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing grain; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

8 I srael este nimicit! Acum ei au ajuns printre neamuri ca un vas fără preţ.

Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein none delighteth.

9 C ăci s'au dus în Asiria, ca un măgar sălbatic care umblă răsleţ. Efraim a dat daruri ca să aibă prieteni!

For they are gone up to Assyria, like a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

10 C hiar dacă ei dau daruri neamurilor, tot îi voi apăsa, ca să înceteze pentru puţină vreme să mai ungă vreun împărat şi domni.

Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be diminished by reason of the burden of the king of princes.

11 C ăci Efraim a zidit multe altare ca să păcătuiască, şi altarele acestea l-au făcut să cadă în păcat.

Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars for sinning, altars have been unto him for sinning.

12 C hiar dacă -i scriu toate poruncile Legii Mele, totuş ele sînt privite ca ceva străin.

I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing.

13 E i junghie vitele pe cari Mi le aduc, şi carnea le -o mînîncă; deaceea Domnul nu le primeşte! Acum Domnul Îşi aduce aminte de nelegiuirea lor, şi le va pedepsi păcatele: se vor întoarce în Egipt!

As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt.

14 C ăci Israel a uitat pe Cel ce l -a făcut, şi -a zidit palate, şi Iuda a înmulţit cetăţile întărite; deaceea voi trimete foc în cetăţile lor, şi le va mistui palatele.

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.
