1 N e-am întors, şi ne-am suit pe drumul care duce la Basan. Og, împăratul Basanului, ne -a ieşit înainte, cu tot poporul lui, ca să lupte împotriva noastră la Edrei.

Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Edrei.

2 D omnul mi -a zis:,, Nu te teme de el; căci îl dau în mînile tale, pe el şi tot poporul lui, şi ţara lui; să te porţi cu el cum te-ai purtat cu Sihon, împăratul Amoriţilor, care locuia la Hesbon.``

And Jehovah said unto me, Fear him not; for I have delivered him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.

3 Ş i Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, a mai dat în mînile noastre şi pe Og, împăratul Basanului, cu tot poporul lui; l-am bătut şi n'am lăsat să scape niciunul din oamenii lui.

So Jehovah our God delivered into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.

4 I -am luat atunci toate cetăţile, şi n'a fost una care să nu cadă în stăpînirea noastră: şasezeci de cetăţi, tot ţinutul Argob, împărăţia lui Og din Basan.

And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we took not from them; threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

5 T oate cetăţile acestea erau întărite, cu ziduri înalte, cu porţi şi zăvoare, afară de cetăţile fără ziduri cari erau foarte multe la număr.

All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars; besides the unwalled towns a great many.

6 L o-am nimicit cu desăvîrşire, cum făcusem cu Sihon, împăratul Hesbonului; am nimicit cu desăvîrşire toate cetăţile împreună cu bărbaţii, femeile şi pruncii.

And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones.

7 I ar toate vitele şi prada din cetăţi le-am luat pentru noi.

But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey unto ourselves.

8 A stfel în vremea aceea am cucerit dela cei doi împăraţi ai Amoriţilor ţara de dincoace de Iordan, dela pîrîul Arnon pînă la muntele Hermon,

And we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon unto mount Hermon;

9 ( Sidoniţii zic Hermonului Sirion, şi Amoriţii îl numesc Senir),

(which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir;)

10 t oate cetăţile din cîmpie, tot Galaadul şi tot Basanul pînă la Salca şi Edrei, cetăţi din împărăţia lui Og în Basan.

all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 ( Numai Og, împăratul Basanului, mai rămăsese din neamul Refaimiţilor. Patul lui, un pat de fer, este la Raba, cetatea copiilor lui Amon. Lungimea lui este de nouă coţi, şi lăţimea de patru coţi, după cotul unui om.)

(For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.)

12 A tunci am luat în stăpînire ţara aceasta. Am dat Rubeniţilor şi Gadiţilor ţinutul de la Aroer, care este pe pîrîul Arnon, şi jumătatea muntelui Galaad cu cetăţile lui.

And this land we took in possession at that time: from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites:

13 A m dat la jumătate din seminţia lui Manase ce mai rămînea din Galaad şi toată împărăţia lui Og din Basan: tot ţinutul Argob, cu tot Basanul, care purta numele de ţara Refaimiţilor.

and the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half-tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, even all Bashan. (The same is called the land of Rephaim.

14 I air, fiul lui Manase, a luat tot ţinutul Argob pînă la hotarul Gheşuriţilor şi Maacatiţilor, şi a pus numele lui tîrgurilor Basanului, numite şi azi tîrgurile lui Iair.

Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth-jair, unto this day.)

15 A m dat Galaadul lui Machir.

And I gave Gilead unto Machir.

16 R ubeniţilor şi Gadiţilor le-am dat o parte din Galaad pînă la pîrîul Arnon, al cărui mijloc slujeşte ca hotar, şi pînă la pîrîul Iaboc, hotarul copiilor lui Amon;

And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the valley of the Arnon, the middle of the valley, and the border thereof, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

17 l e-am mai dat cîmpia, mărginită de Iordan, dela Chineret pînă la marea cîmpiei, Marea Sărată, la picioarele muntelui Pisga spre răsărit.

the Arabah also, and the Jordan and the border thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.

18 Î n vremea aceea, v'am dat porunca aceasta:,, Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, vă dă în mînă ţara aceasta ca s'o stăpîniţi. Voi toţi, cei buni de luptă, să mergeţi înarmaţi înaintea copiilor lui Israel.

And I commanded you at that time, saying, Jehovah your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all the men of valor.

19 N umai femeile voastre, pruncii şi vitele voastre-ştiu că aveţi multe vite-să rămînă în cetăţile pe cari vi le-am dat,

But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you,

20 p înă ce Domnul va da odihnă fraţilor voştri ca şi vouă, şi vor lua şi ei în stăpînire ţara pe care le -o dă Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, dincolo de Iordan. După aceea vă veţi întoarce fiecare în moştenirea pe care v'am dat -o.

until Jehovah give rest unto your brethren, as unto you, and they also possess the land which Jehovah your God giveth them beyond the Jordan: then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.

21 Î n vremea aceea, am poruncit lui Iosua, şi i-am zis:,, Ochii tăi au văzut tot ce a făcut Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, acestor doi împăraţi: aşa va face Domnul tuturor împărăţiilor împotriva cărora vei merge.

And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that Jehovah your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall Jehovah do unto all the kingdoms whither thou goest over.

22 N u te teme de ei; căci Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, va lupta El însuş pentru voi.``

Ye shall not fear them; for Jehovah your God, he it is that fighteth for you.

23 Î n vremea aceea, m'am rugat Domnului, şi am zis:

And I besought Jehovah at that time, saying,

24 S tăpîne Doamne! Tu ai început să arăţi robului Tău mărirea Ta şi mîna Ta cea puternică; căci care este dumnezeul acela, în cer şi pe pămînt, care să poată face lucrări ca ale Tale şi să aibă o putere ca a Ta?

O Lord Jehovah, thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness, and thy strong hand: for what god is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy mighty acts?

25 L asă-mă, Te rog, să trec, şi să văd ţara aceea bună de dincolo de Iordan, munţii aceia frumoşi şi Libanul!``

Let me go over, I pray thee, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.

26 D ar Domnul S'a mîniat pe mine, din pricina voastră, şi nu m'a ascultat. Domnul mi -a zis:,, Destul! Nu-Mi mai vorbi de lucrul acesta.

But Jehovah was wroth with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me; and Jehovah said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.

27 S uie-te pe vîrful muntelui Pisga, uită-te spre apus, spre miază noapte, spre miază zi şi spre răsărit, şi priveşte -o doar cu ochii; căci nu vei trece Iordanul acesta.

Get thee up unto the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

28 D ă porunci lui Iosua, întăreşte -l, şi îmbărbătează -l; căci el va merge înaintea poporului acestuia şi -l va pune în stăpînirea ţării pe care o vei vedea.``

But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

29 Ş i am rămas astfel în vale, îndreptul Bet-Peorului.

So we abode in the valley over against Beth-peor.
