1 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

La parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

2 S on of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Howl ye, Alas for the day!

Fils de l'homme, prophétise, et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Gémissez!... Malheureux jour!

3 F or the day is at hand, yea, the day of Jehovah is at hand, a day of clouds; it shall be the time of the nations.

Car le jour approche, le jour de l'Éternel approche, Jour ténébreux: ce sera le temps des nations.

4 A nd the sword shall come upon Egypt, and there shall be anguish in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be overthrown.

L'épée fondra sur l'Égypte, Et l'épouvante sera dans l'Éthiopie, Quand les morts tomberont en Égypte, Quand on enlèvera ses richesses, Et que ses fondements seront renversés.

5 C ush, and Phut, and Lud, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the children of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.

L'Éthiopie, Puth, Lud, toute l'Arabie, Cub, Et les fils du pays allié, Tomberont avec eux par l'épée.

6 T hus saith Jehovah: They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her strength shall come down: from Migdol to Syene shall they fall in her by the sword, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Ils tomberont, les soutiens de l'Égypte, Et l'orgueil de sa force périra; De Migdol à Syène ils tomberont par l'épée, Dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.

7 A nd they shall be desolated in the midst of the countries that are desolated, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.

Ils seront dévastés entre les pays dévastés, Et ses villes seront entre les villes désertes.

8 A nd they shall know that I Jehovah, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers shall be broken.

Et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel, Quand je mettrai le feu dans l'Égypte, Et que tous ses soutiens seront brisés.

9 I n that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships, to make careless Ethiopia afraid; and anguish shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for behold, it cometh!

En ce jour-là, des messagers iront de ma part sur des navires Troubler l'Éthiopie dans sa sécurité; Et l'épouvante sera parmi eux au jour de l'Égypte, Car voici, ces choses arrivent!

10 T hus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Je ferai disparaître la multitude de l'Égypte, Par la main de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone.

11 H e and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land; and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with slain.

Lui et son peuple avec lui, Le plus violent d'entre les peuples, Seront envoyés pour détruire le pays; Ils tireront l'épée contre l'Égypte, Et rempliront le pays de morts.

12 A nd I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked; and I will make the land desolate, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I Jehovah have spoken.

Je mettrai les canaux à sec, Je livrerai le pays entre les mains des méchants; Je ravagerai le pays et ce qu'il renferme, par la main des étrangers. Moi, l'Éternel, j'ai parlé.

13 T hus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince out of the land of Egypt; and I will put fear in the land of Egypt.

Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: J'anéantirai les idoles, Et j'ôterai de Noph les vains simulacres; Il n'y aura plus de prince du pays d'Égypte, Et je répandrai la terreur dans le pays d'Égypte.

14 A nd I will make Pathros desolate, and will set a fire in Zoan, and will execute judgment in No.

Je dévasterai Pathros, Je mettrai le feu à Tsoan, Et j'exercerai mes jugements sur No.

15 A nd I will pour my fury upon Sin, the stronghold of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.

Je répandrai ma fureur sur Sin, la forteresse de l'Égypte, Et j'exterminerai la multitude de No.

16 A nd I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin shall be in great anguish, and No shall be rent asunder, and at Noph enemies in open day.

Je mettrai le feu dans l'Égypte; Sin sera saisie d'angoisse, No sera ouverte par la brèche, Et Noph conquise en plein jour par les ennemis.

17 T he young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword; and these shall go into captivity.

Les jeunes hommes d'On et de Pi Béseth tomberont par l'épée, Et ces villes iront en captivité.

18 A nd at Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened, when I break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her strength shall cease in her; as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

A Tachpanès le jour s'obscurcira, Quand j'y briserai le joug de l'Éternel, Et que l'orgueil de sa force y prendra fin; Un nuage couvrira Tachpanès, Et ses filles iront en captivité.

19 T hus will I execute judgments in Egypt; and they shall know that I Jehovah.

J'exercerai mes jugements sur l'Égypte, Et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.

20 A nd it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first, on the seventh of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

La onzième année, le septième jour du premier mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

21 S on of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and behold, it shall not be bound up to apply remedies, to put a bandage to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword.

Fils de l'homme, j'ai rompu le bras de Pharaon, roi d'Égypte; Et voici, on ne l'a point pansé pour le guérir, On ne l'a point enveloppé d'un bandage Pour le lier et le raffermir, Afin qu'il puisse manier l'épée.

22 T herefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong one, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, j'en veux à Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, Et je lui romprai les bras, Celui qui est en bon état et celui qui est cassé. Et je ferai tomber l'épée de sa main.

23 A nd I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

Je répandrai les Égyptiens parmi les nations, Je les disperserai en divers pays.

24 A nd I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand; and I will break Pharaoh's arms, so that he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly-wounded.

Je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone, Et je mettrai mon épée dans sa main; Je romprai les bras de Pharaon, Et il gémira devant lui comme gémissent les mourants.

25 A nd I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I Jehovah, when I have put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall have stretched it out upon the land of Egypt.

Je fortifierai les bras du roi de Babylone, Et les bras de Pharaon tomberont. Et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel, Quand je mettrai mon épée dans la main du roi de Babylone, Et qu'il la tournera contre le pays d'Égypte.

26 A nd I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries: and they shall know that I Jehovah.

Je répandrai les Égyptiens parmi les nations, Je les disperserai en divers pays, Et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.
