1 M ake haste, O God, to deliver me; Jehovah, to my help.

«Al maestro del coro. Di Davide. Per far ricordare.» O DIO, affrettati a liberarmi. O Eterno, affrettati in mio aiuto.

2 L et them be ashamed and brought to confusion that seek after my soul; let them be turned backward and confounded that take pleasure in mine adversity;

Siano svergognati e confusi quelli che cercano la mia vita, voltino le spalle e siano coperti di vergogna quelli che desiderano il mio male.

3 L et them turn back because of their shame that say, Aha! Aha!

Voltino le spalle a motivo della loro vergogna quelli che dicono: «Ah, ah!».

4 L et all those that seek thee be glad and rejoice in thee, and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified!

Si rallegrino e gioiscano in te tutti quelli che ti cercano, e quelli che amano la tua salvezza dicano del continuo: «Sia magnificato DIO!».

5 B ut I am afflicted and needy: make haste unto me, O God. Thou art my help and my deliverer: O Jehovah, make no delay.

Ma io sono povero e bisognoso, o DIO, affrettati a venire in mio aiuto, tu sei il mio aiuto e il mio liberatore o Eterno, non tardare.
