1 Y ahweh, don’t rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath.

O Lord, rebuke me not in Your anger nor discipline and chasten me in Your hot displeasure.

2 H ave mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am faint. Yahweh, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

Have mercy on me and be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am weak (faint and withered away); O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

3 M y soul is also in great anguish. But you, Yahweh—how long?

My self is also exceedingly disturbed and troubled. But You, O Lord, how long ?

4 R eturn, Yahweh. Deliver my soul, and save me for your loving kindness’ sake.

Return, O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of Your steadfast love and mercy.

5 F or in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks?

For in death there is no remembrance of You; in Sheol (the place of the dead) who will give You thanks?

6 I am weary with my groaning. Every night I flood my bed. I drench my couch with my tears.

I am weary with my groaning; all night I soak my pillow with tears, I drench my couch with my weeping.

7 M y eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.

My eye grows dim because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.

8 D epart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.

9 Y ahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh accepts my prayer.

The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord receives my prayer.

10 M ay all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.

Let all my enemies be ashamed and sorely troubled; let them turn back and be put to shame suddenly.
