2 B ehold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it.

His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow.

4 F or fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.

And those keeping guard were so frightened at the sight of him that they were agitated and they trembled and became like dead men.

5 T he angel answered the women, “Don’t be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.

But the angel said to the women, Do not be alarmed and frightened, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified.

6 H e is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.

He is not here; He has risen, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay.

7 G o quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.”

Then go quickly and tell His disciples, He has risen from the dead, and behold, He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.

8 T hey departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.

So they left the tomb hastily with fear and great joy and ran to tell the disciples.

9 A s they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” They came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.

And as they went, behold, Jesus met them and said, Hail (greetings)! And they went up to Him and clasped His feet and worshiped Him.

10 T hen Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me.”

Then Jesus said to them, Do not be alarmed and afraid; go and tell My brethren to go into Galilee, and there they will see Me.

11 N ow while they were going, behold, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all the things that had happened.

While they were on their way, behold, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had occurred.

12 W hen they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers,

And when they had gathered with the elders and had consulted together, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers,

And if the governor hears of it, we will appease him and make you safe and free from trouble and care.

15 S o they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Jews, and continues until today.

So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this story has been current among the Jews to the present day.

16 B ut the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them.

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed and made appointment with them.

17 W hen they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.

And when they saw Him, they fell down and worshiped Him; but some doubted.

18 J esus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

19 G o, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 t eaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days ( perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).
