1 G od, don’t keep silent. Don’t keep silent, and don’t be still, God.

Keep not silence, O God; hold not Your peace or be still, O God.

2 F or, behold, your enemies are stirred up. Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.

For, behold, Your enemies are in tumult, and those who hate You have raised their heads.

3 T hey conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.

They lay crafty schemes against Your people and consult together against Your hidden and precious ones.

4 Come,” they say, “let’s destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

They have said, Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be in remembrance no more.

5 F or they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you.

For they have consulted together with one accord and one heart; against You they make a covenant—

6 T he tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites;

The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,

7 G ebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;

Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre.

8 A ssyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.

Assyria also has joined with them; they have helped the children of Lot and have been an arm to them. Selah!

9 D o to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon;

Do to them as the Midianites, as to Sisera and Jabin at the brook of Kishon,

10 w ho perished at Endor, who became as dung for the earth.

Who perished at Endor, who became like manure for the earth.

11 M ake their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna;

Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, yes, all their princes as Zebah and Zalmunna,

12 w ho said, “Let us take possession of God’s pasture lands.”

Who say, Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.

13 M y God, make them like tumbleweed; like chaff before the wind.

O my God, make them like whirling dust, like stubble or chaff before the wind!

14 A s the fire that burns the forest, as the flame that sets the mountains on fire,

As fire consumes the forest, and as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,

15 s o pursue them with your tempest, and terrify them with your storm.

So pursue and afflict them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your tornado or hurricane.

16 F ill their faces with confusion, that they may seek your name, Yahweh.

Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek, inquire for, and insistently require Your name, O Lord.

17 L et them be disappointed and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish;

Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; yes, let them be put to shame and perish,

18 t hat they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, are the Most High over all the earth.

That they may know that You, Whose name alone is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.
