1 I n the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was struck, in the same day, Yahweh’s hand was on me, and he brought me there.
In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was taken, on the very same day the hand of the Lord was upon me and He brought me to that place.
2 I n the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, whereon was as it were the frame of a city on the south.

3 H e brought me there; and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

4 T he man said to me, Son of man, see with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I shall show you; for, to the intent that I may show them to you, you are brought here: declare all that you see to the house of Israel.

5 B ehold, a wall on the outside of the house all around, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed six cubits long, of a cubit and a hand width each: so he measured the thickness of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
And behold, there was a wall all around the outside area of the house, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed six long cubits in length, each cubit being longer by a handbreadth; so he measured the thickness of the wall, one reed, and the height, one reed.
6 T hen came he to the gate which looks toward the east, and went up its steps: and he measured the threshold of the gate, one reed wide; and the other threshold, one reed wide.
Then he came to the gate which faced the east and went up its steps and measured the threshold of the gateway, one reed broad, and the other threshold of the gateway, one reed broad.
7 E very lodge was one reed long, and one reed wide; and between the lodges was five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate toward the house was one reed.
And every room for the guards was one reed long and one reed broad, and the space between the guardrooms or lodges was five cubits. And the threshold of the gate by the porch or vestibule of the gateway within was one reed.
8 H e measured also the porch of the gate toward the house, one reed.

9 T hen measured he the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and its posts, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was toward the house.
Then he measured the porch or vestibule of the gateway, eight cubits, and its posts or jambs, two cubits. And the porch or vestibule of the gate was inside.
10 T he lodges of the gate eastward were three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and on that side.
And the guardrooms or lodges of the east gateway were three on this side and three on that side; the three were the same size, and the posts or jambs were the same size on either side.
11 H e measured the width of the opening of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits;
And he measured the breadth of the opening of the gateway, ten cubits, and the length of the gateway, thirteen cubits.
12 a nd a border before the lodges, one cubit on this side, and a border, one cubit on that side; and the lodges, six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.
And a border or barrier before the guardrooms was one cubit on this side, and a border or barrier, one cubit on that side. And the guardrooms or lodges were six cubits on this side and six cubits on that side.
13 H e measured the gate from the roof of the one lodge to the roof of the other, a width of twenty-five cubits; door against door.
And the man measured the gate from the outer wall of one chamber or guardroom to the outer wall of another—a breadth of twenty-five cubits from door to door.
14 H e made also posts, sixty cubits; and the court reached to the posts, around the gate.
And the open part of the porch or vestibule of the gateway on the outside was twenty cubits, the chambers or guardrooms of the gate being round about.
15 F rom the forefront of the gate at the entrance to the forefront of the inner porch of the gate were fifty cubits.
And including this porch or vestibule of the gate on the outside and the porch or vestibule on the inside, the extent was fifty cubits.
16 T here were closed windows to the lodges, and to their posts within the gate all around, and likewise to the arches; and windows were around inward; and on each post were palm trees.
And there were closed windows to the guardrooms or chambers and to their posts or pillars within the gate round about, and likewise to the archway or vestibule; and windows were round about facing into the court, and upon each post or pillar were palm tree.
17 T hen brought he me into the outer court; and behold, there were rooms and a pavement, made for the court all around: thirty rooms were on the pavement.
Then he brought me into the outward court, and behold, there were chambers and a pavement round about the court; thirty chambers fronted on the pavement.
18 T he pavement was by the side of the gates, answerable to the length of the gates, even the lower pavement.
And the pavement was along by the side of the gates, answerable to the length of the gateways; this was the lower pavement.
19 T hen he measured the width from the forefront of the lower gate to the forefront of the inner court outside, one hundred cubits, both on the east and on the north.
Then the man measured the distance from the inner front before the lower gate to the outer front of the inner court, a hundred cubits, both on the east and on the north.
20 T he gate of the outer court whose prospect is toward the north, he measured its length and its width.
And the gate of the outward court which faced the north, of it he measured both the length and the breadth.
21 T he lodges of it were three on this side and three on that side; and its posts and its arches were after the measure of the first gate: its length was fifty cubits, and the width twenty-five cubits.
And its guardrooms or lodges, three on this side and three on that side, and its posts or pillars and archway or vestibule were the same size as those of the first gate; the length was fifty cubits and the breadth twenty-five cubits.
22 T he windows of it, and its arches, and the palm trees of it, were after the measure of the gate whose prospect is toward the east; and they went up to it by seven steps; and its arches were before them.
And its windows and its archway or vestibule and its palm trees were of the same size as those of the gate that faces toward the east. It was reached by going up seven steps, and the archway of its vestibule was on the inner side.
23 T here was a gate to the inner court facing the other gate, on the north and on the east; and he measured from gate to gate one hundred cubits.
Opposite the gate on the north and on the east was a gate to the inner court, and he measured from gate to gate, a hundred cubits.
24 H e led me toward the south; and behold, a gate toward the south: and he measured its posts and its arches according to these measurements.
After that the man brought me toward the south, and behold, there was a gate on the south, and he measured its posts or pillars and its archway or vestibule; they measured as the others did.
25 T here were windows in it and in its arches all around, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the width twenty-five cubits.
And there were windows round about in it and in its archway or vestibule, like those windows in the other gateways; its length was fifty cubits and its breadth twenty-five cubits.
26 T here were seven steps to go up to it, and its arches were before them; and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, on its posts.
And there were seven steps going up to the gate, and its archway or vestibule was on the inside. And it had palm trees, one on this side and another on that side, carved on its posts or pillars.
27 T here was a gate to the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south a hundred cubits.
And there was a gate to the inner court on the south, and he measured from gate to gate toward the south, a hundred cubits.
28 T hen he brought me to the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measurements;
And the man brought me into the inner court by the south gate, and he measured the south gate; its measurements were the same as those of the other gateways.
29 a nd its lodges, and its posts, and its arches, according to these measurements: and there were windows in it and in its arches all around; it was fifty cubits long, and twenty-five cubits wide.
And its guardrooms or chambers and its posts or pillars and its archway or vestibule measured as did the others. And there were windows in the gateway and in its archway or vestibule round about; its length was fifty cubits and its breadth twenty-five cubits.
30 T here were arches all around, twenty-five cubits long, and five cubits wide.
And there was an archway or a vestibule round about, twenty-five cubits long and five cubits wide.
31 T he arches of it were toward the outer court; and palm trees were on its posts: and the ascent to it had eight steps.
And its vestibule faced the outer court; and palm trees were carved upon its posts or pillars, and the steps going up to it were eight.
32 H e brought me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according to these measurements;
And he brought me into the inner court toward the east and he measured the gate; it measured the same as the others.
33 a nd its lodges, and its posts, and its arches, according to these measurements: and there were windows therein and in its arches all around; it was fifty cubits long, and twenty-five cubits wide.
And its guardrooms or chambers and its posts or pillars and its archway or vestibule measured as did the others. And there were windows in it and in its vestibule round about; the gateway was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.
34 T he arches of it were toward the outer court; and palm trees were on its posts, on this side, and on that side: and the ascent to it had eight steps.
And its vestibule faced the outer court; and palm trees were carved upon its posts or pillars on either side, and the steps leading to it were eight.
35 H e brought me to the north gate: and he measured it according to these measurements;
And the man brought me to the north gate and measured it; the measurements were the same as those of the other gates.
36 i ts lodges, its posts, and its arches: and there were windows therein all around; the length was fifty cubits, and the width twenty-five cubits.
Its guardrooms or chambers, its posts or pillars, its vestibule, and the windows to it round about. The length of the gateway was fifty cubits and the width was twenty-five cubits.
37 T he posts of it were toward the outer court; and palm trees were on its posts, on this side, and on that side: and the ascent to it had eight steps.
And its posts or pillars were toward the outer court, and palm trees were carved upon them on either side. And the approach to it had eight steps.
38 A room with its door was by the posts at the gates; there they washed the burnt offering.
There was an attached chamber with its door beside the posts or pillars of the gates where the burnt offering was to be washed.
39 I n the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, on which to kill the burnt offering, the sin offering, and the trespass offering.
And in the porch or vestibule of the gate were two tables on this side and two tables on that side, on which to slay the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass or guilt offering.
40 O n the one side outside, as one goes up to the entry of the gate toward the north, were two tables; and on the other side, which belonged to the porch of the gate, were two tables.
And on the one side without, as one goes up to the entrance of the gate to the north, were two tables; and on the other side at the vestibule of the gate were two tables.
41 F our tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they killed the sacrifices.
Four tables were on the inside and four tables on the outside of the side of the gate, eight tables upon which the sacrifices were to be slain.
42 T here were four tables for the burnt offering, of cut stone, a cubit and a half long, and a cubit and a half wide, and one cubit high; whereupon they laid the instruments with which they killed the burnt offering and the sacrifice.
Moreover, there were four tables of hewn stone for the burnt offering, a cubit and a half long, a cubit and a half broad, and one cubit high. Upon them were to be laid the instruments with which were slain the burnt offering and the sacrifice.
43 T he hooks, a hand width long, were fastened within all around: and on the tables was the flesh of the offering.
And slabs or hooks a handbreadth long were fastened within round about. Upon the tables was to be placed the flesh of the offering.
44 O utside of the inner gate were rooms for the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south; one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Then the man led me into the inner court, and behold, there were two chambers in the inner court: one beside the north gate but facing the south, and one beside the south gate but looking toward the north.
45 H e said to me, This room, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the duty of the house;
And the man said, This chamber with its view to the south is for the priests who have charge of the house,
46 a nd the room whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the duty of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok, who from among the sons of Levi come near to Yahweh to minister to him.

47 H e measured the court, one hundred cubits long, and a hundred cubits wide, square; and the altar was before the house.

48 T hen he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the width of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
Then he brought me to the porch or vestibule of the temple proper, and he measured each post or pillar of the porch, five cubits on either side. And the width of the gate was three cubits for this and three cubits for that one.
49 T he length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the width eleven cubits; even by the steps by which they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
And the length of the porch or vestibule was twenty cubits and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps by which it was reached, and there were two pillars standing on the posts or beside them, one on either side of the entrance.
