Psalm 6 ~ Psalm 6

picture

1 O Lord, do not speak sharp words to me in Your anger, or punish me when You are angry.

O Lord, rebuke me not in Your anger nor discipline and chasten me in Your hot displeasure.

2 B e kind to me, O Lord, for I am weak. O Lord, heal me for my bones are shaken.

Have mercy on me and be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am weak (faint and withered away); O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

3 M y soul is in great suffering. But You, O Lord, how long?

My self is also exceedingly disturbed and troubled. But You, O Lord, how long ?

4 R eturn, O Lord. Set my soul free. Save me because of Your loving-kindness.

Return, O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of Your steadfast love and mercy.

5 N o one remembers You when he is dead. Who gives You praise from the grave?

For in death there is no remembrance of You; in Sheol (the place of the dead) who will give You thanks?

6 I am tired of crying inside myself. All night long my pillow is wet with tears. I flood my bed with them.

I am weary with my groaning; all night I soak my pillow with tears, I drench my couch with my weeping.

7 M y eye has grown weak with sorrow. It has grown old because of all who hate me.

My eye grows dim because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.

8 G o away from me, all you who sin. For the Lord has heard the sound of my crying.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.

9 T he Lord has heard my cry for help. The Lord receives my prayer.

The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord receives my prayer.

10 A ll those who hate me will be ashamed and worried. They will turn away. They will be put to shame right away.

Let all my enemies be ashamed and sorely troubled; let them turn back and be put to shame suddenly.
