1 I have a safe place in you, O Lord. Let me never be ashamed.

In You, O Lord, do I put my trust and confidently take refuge; let me never be put to shame or confusion!

2 B ecause You are right and good, take me out of trouble. Turn Your ear to me and save me.

Deliver me in Your righteousness and cause me to escape; bow down Your ear to me and save me!

3 B e a rock to me where I live, where I may always come and where I will be safe. For You are my rock and my safe place.

Be to me a rock of refuge in which to dwell, and a sheltering stronghold to which I may continually resort, which You have appointed to save me, for You are my Rock and my Fortress.

4 O my God, take me from the hand of the sinful, from the hand of the wrong-doer and the man without pity.

Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the grasp of the unrighteous and ruthless man.

5 F or You are my hope, O Lord God. You are my trust since I was young.

For You are my hope; O Lord God, You are my trust from my youth and the source of my confidence.

6 Y ou have kept me safe from birth. It was You Who watched over me from the day I was born. My praise is always of You.

Upon You have I leaned and relied from birth; You are He Who took me from my mother’s womb and You have been my benefactor from that day. My praise is continually of You.

7 I have become a wonder and surprise to many. For You are my strong safe place.

I am as a wonder and surprise to many, but You are my strong refuge.

8 M y mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your honor all day long.

My mouth shall be filled with Your praise and with Your honor all the day.

9 D o not let me fall by the way when I am old. Do not leave me alone when my strength is gone.

Cast me not off nor send me away in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent and my powers fail.

10 F or those who hate me talk against me. Those who want to kill make plans together.

For my enemies talk against me; those who watch for my life consult together,

11 T hey say, “God has turned away from him. Run and catch him, for there is no one to take him out of trouble.”

Saying, God has forsaken him; pursue and persecute and take him, for there is none to deliver him.

12 O God, do not be far from me! O my God, hurry to help me!

O God, be not far from me! O my God, make haste to help me!

13 L et those who are against me be ashamed and destroyed. Let those who want to hurt me be without honor and covered with shame.

Let them be put to shame and consumed who are adversaries to my life; let them be covered with reproach, scorn, and dishonor who seek and require my hurt.

14 B ut as for me, I will always have hope and I will praise You more and more.

But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more.

15 M y mouth will tell about how right and good You are and about Your saving acts all day long. For there are more than I can know.

My mouth shall tell of Your righteous acts and of Your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is more than I know.

16 I will come in the strength of the Lord God. I will tell about how right and good You are, and You alone.

I will come in the strength and with the mighty acts of the Lord God; I will mention and praise Your righteousness, even Yours alone.

17 O God, You have taught me from when I was young. And I still tell about Your great works.

O God, You have taught me from my youth, and hitherto have I declared Your wondrous works.

18 E ven when I am old and my hair is turning white, O God, do not leave me alone. Let me tell about Your strength to all the people living now, and about Your power to all who are to come.

Yes, even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not, until I have declared Your mighty strength to generation, and Your might and power to all that are to come.

19 O God, You are right and good, as the heavens are high. You have done great things, O God. Who is like You?

Your righteousness also, O God, is very high, You Who have done great things; O God, who is like You, or who is Your equal?

20 Y ou have shown me many troubles of all kinds. But You will make me strong again. And You will bring me up again from deep in the earth.

You Who have shown us troubles great and sore will quicken us again and will bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

21 A dd to my greatness, and turn to comfort me.

Increase my greatness (my honor) and turn and comfort me.

22 O my God, I will praise You with a harp. I will praise Your truth. I will sing praises to You with different kinds of harps, O Holy One of Israel.

I will also praise You with the harp, even Your truth and faithfulness, O my God; unto You will I sing praises with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.

23 M y lips will call out for joy when I sing praises to You. You have set my soul free.

My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises to You, and my inner being, which You have redeemed.

24 M y tongue will tell about how right and good You are all day long. For those who want to hurt me are ashamed and troubled.

My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; for they are put to shame, for they are confounded, who seek and demand my hurt.
